The NFL did not care about when or where Conan signed. He is not the reason for the delay of the schedule release. It more than likely was becasue of the Mcnabb trade to DC and Big Bens legal woes along with the New York coin toss debacle. ESPN was never gonna get a better schedule than the peacock. Dick Ebersol would go nutz.. Crude Conan could move to Greenland and the NFL could care less. Rest assure the schedule had absolutely nothing about where Conan landed.

When I clicked on Schedule for the Colts on NFL.COM, at the bottom of the page I see “Full Schedule Coming April 20 7pm et exclusively on NFL.COM and NFL Network

At least 6 of their away games are out side in what would be cold weather climates (Philadelphia, Washington, New England, New York Jets, Green Bay, Chicago.) Unless they play all 6 straight on the road to start the season, he’s gonna have to deal with some cold weather. Here’s hoping GB/Min or Min/Chi ends the season.

I don’t think Rothlisberger was the reason for the delay:
I suspect the NFL was waiting as long as it could because of a situation that may have had a direct impact on who got what games: Conan o’Brien.
Until Conan signed with TBS on Monday (4/12), the NFL likely was having to do up two schedules:
One if Conan went to FOX. That schedule likenly included giving ESPN a much stronger than normal Monday Night Football schedule to compensate for having to have a 7:00 PM ET/4:00 PM PT start (instead of 8:40 ET/5:40 PT) for a November MNF game the night Conan premiered on FOX if Conan had gone to FOX as widely anticipated before he signed with TBS. Given the NFL owes FOX for a screwup with the playoffs last January that cost FOX the Divisional Playoff lead-ins for “Human Target” and “24″ that FOX told ad buyers at the May 2009 up-fronts they would have, I suspect had Conan signed with FOX, the NFL would have had to make the November 8 MNF game a 7:00 PM ET kickoff to assure that game ended before the likely premiere episode of a Conan on FOX show had Conan gone to FOX.
The other schedule is the if Conan didn’t sign with FOX, which we now know us what happened.
That to me may be why the NFL has delayed putting out a schedule in the hope the Conan situation would be settled before the NFL had to get one out and the NFL was not in a position where they had to shift games that normally would be on NBC to ESPN as advance compensation for needing to move a game up to a 7:00 PM ET kickoff.

This is yet another debacle occuring under Fuhrer Goodell’s watch. I recall just 3 or so years ago the schedule being released consistantly in the first week of April with little fanfare. It has now been delayed for weeks on end for two straight years.
Cue the losers who love to point out “who cares, we already know what teams will be playing”.
Well, some of us actually go to the games, and spend lots of money to do so, and would already have trips booked if this process wasn’t completely mismanaged and the schedule was already out. What a farce.

You read it here first. Steelers will host a Thursday night game Week 16, be on the road Week 17, then host the NHL Classic Jan. 1, probaby against the Caps.

The reason it isn’t being released yet is because they haven’t been able to finalize it. They are slow, and dumb.
They are worried about people not paying attention to it because it’s the weekend? That’s like saying I don’t care if Shakira or Beyonce take a wrong turn down my street and need directions because it’s the wrong day of the week.
If I care about something, the day of the week or weekend means nothing.
NFL, just admit you hire substandard employees in almost every aspect if your business… and this is just another example. Florio could make the schedule faster, and probably end up with a better final product.

I don’t really see how this hurts the pre-draft build up. It’s two days prior to the draft. People are already amped up for the draft. If anything, this will just fuel the people that haven’t been gearing up for the draft to actually come back around to football. I think it’s a smart move.
They will release the schedule on Tuesday night. People will break it down Wednesday all day, plus throw in draft talk. Thursday during the day people will be back into draft-talk mode for the 1st round, and the draft will kick off that night. The NFL will own not just the weekend, but basically the entire week (Tuesday night schedule release through Sunday draft breakdown).
