Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is very pleased with the offseason moves his team has made.
“It’s like Christmas with all these guys,” Sanchez said Monday, in comments distributed by the team.
Sanchez particularly is excited about the latest addition, receiver Santonio Holmes.
“This is huge for our offense,” Sanchez said. “It adds that explosive element; a guy who can just take off the top of the defense is a term we use to just blow off the top of a defense because he’s so fast. They’ve got to respect him running down the field. Underneath stuff, just throwing him a ball behind the line of scrimmage even, catching it on a reverse, this guy is explosive. It’ll open things up for Jerricho [Cotchery] and for Braylon [Edwards] as well. It’s big.”
It is big. Just like the expectations that the Jets are building for 2010. And if the team doesn’t live up to those expectations, it sure as hell won’t feel like Christmas. Even if it’s actually Christmas.
UPDATE: Or, as a commenter puts it, “He’ll shoot his eye out.”
