Mr. Rooney stated that Ben was being allowed to return to the team because they were convinced he was contrite enough about his situation, and they would allow him to work to regain everyone’s trust.
Furthermore, the line that you are banking on here “We have not discusses a trade with any other team”…. should not be taken the way you are taken it. He is just not saying that they haven’t discusses with any other team the possibility of a trade. He is saying they haven’t disucussed “a trade with any other team.” As in they haven’t discussed it period.
The bottom line is the yes the Rooney’s have tried to keep a clean image. But the boat on that has kind of sailed. James Harrison got a big new contract, drunken Jeff Reed did as well.
