Do Skins fans think that the tam should have waited and traded for Rothlesberger? Would have cost more, but you’d have gotten a winner who had 8 years or so left. Way better than what you have now. As long as you do not mind the PR aspect, which I am sure Snyder and Shanahan would have overlooked.

@Boysroll I believe for the past 15 or so years the Redskins have won the same amount of the championships as your poser team…ZERO. As a matter of fact since 1996 you have finished above them in the standings 7 times and in the same time period the Redskins have finished 7 times above the ‘girls. The only glaring difference is the Redskins have three playoff wins during that time period to your 1. If anybody should be doing any talking in the NFC East its Eagle fans, but then again they have just as many championships as Skins and ‘Girls. So I guess the Giants fans can talk.

i don’t know if McIntosh is good for a 3-4 defense but i wonder why everybody in the nfl thinks that the 3-4 defense is the only way to win. Somebody may think that three of four 2009 conference finalist use 4-3 defense, only the Jets are 3-4. To have good defense you must have good players 4-3 or 3-4 make no difference at all.

McIntosh is a solid, young LB and another reason why switching to the 3-4 makes NO sense. The 3-4 defense is a fad and it makes me sick that the Redskins have jumped on the bandwagon. True the defense has been lacking in it’s turnover impact over the last few years but they also have been in the top 10 the last 2 years. Hears a thought, instead of leaning on that top 10 defense to do more, why not establish a consistent offense for a change? I know…it makes too much damn sense.

All the writer of the article did was pass along an analysis that has been accepted by the media as the reason for this move. It was not cited, but that is the SOP for this website.

Really, because 3-4 co-ordinators are always looking for outside linebacker in the 230lbs region with 5 sacks in a 4-year pro career.
He is a little bit undersized for the 4-3 that we’ve played. He has been a decent player for 3-years, but he isn’t a pass rusher. He isn’t even great in coverage, just decent. The fact that he was our best cover linebacker had more to do with the fact that two of our linebackers were converted defensive ends.
I am sure Haslett could do something with Macintosh, but he isn’t a great fit for a 3-4 defence and he is showing signs of expecting a contract far in excess of what his pro-career merits.

I laugh at all who question a Superbowl winning coach and his intentions.
I laugh at Cowboys fans regardless; they can’t help their disabilities. Even though 75% of their fans are bandwagon and never stepped foot in Texas. The other 25% are clinically braindead. Pretty pathetic stat for a pathetic team.

I have tried to be supportive and withhold judgment as the first quasi-professional GM/coach tandem in Washington since 1992 attempts to change the culture of futile excess that typifies the Little Danny era, but it is becoming difficult.
The defense certainly needs to adopt a more aggressive attack focused on turnovers and third-down execution. The turnover numbers and third-down percentage have been anemic as the defense consistently ranks high under the NFL’s misleading yardage-based ranking system. But, the defense did keep a junior varsity offense in many games that should have been blowouts. Anybody remember losing to the Cowgirls by a barn-burning score of 7-6?
But, this obsession with the 3-4 base defense better produce Steeler-like numbers for former Steeler assistant Haslett or the team will regress in the one, single area that has been competitive over the last few years.
Shanahan and Haslett are gambling big in their bids at redemption and have only two years to show impressive results or their decision not to become younger will again leave Redskins fans with an aged, underachieving team with no hope for the near future.
I like the McNabb and RBs moves if they are accompanied by a strong effort in the draft and free agency to address the o-line, but the defensive moves so far leave little room for error and less room for optimism. Hail!

They are media commentators, and media aggregators who happen to perform a job well enough that people like you (and me) are here to read what they write. So your chiding them for not being something they never claimed to be is each comes off as petty and bitter.
