Police officer who received complaint against Roethlisberger resigns

We’ve been trying to space out the Ben Roethlisberger-related blurbs, in order to reduce from 500 to 250 the number of e-mails we receive each day telling us not to write so many Roethlisberger-related blurbs.

Here’s one that has been lurking near the top of the stack.  The police officer who received the initial complaint from the alleged victim in Milledgeville, Georgia has resigned.

Per TMZ, Jerry Blash admitted that he said something similar to “this f–king bitch is drunk” or “this bitch is drunk off her ass accusing Ben of assaulting her.”  He also reportedly told the accuser and her friends that “Roethlisberger has a lot of money” and that if they make a police report they “would be wasting their time.”

TMZ reports that Blash resigned under threat of termination.

It’s unknown whether Blash’s statement affected the investigation.  Coincidentally, he’s one of the cops who were photographed with Roethlisberger prior to the incident.

I have a good friend from school who is from Pitt. He goes to some of the same watering holes as Ben, and told me point blank to my my face that Ben is an obnoxious drinker. When he’s wasted he says anything that comes to his head to women. A lot of the times they are so offended that they don’t even care that he’s a star.
After reading excerpts from the police reports – I truly believe that Ben “TAKE THE GoOdieS” Rothlisberger raped that young woman. I also believe he belongs in jail and out of the NFL totally. If we can send Michael Vick to jail for abusing dogs then certainly what Rothlisberger did is far worse. I used to have a good opinion of him even though I wasn’t a Steeler’s fan. Now I think he is just a P-O-S. He belongs in jail where any other rapist would be. Payoffs just seem to cement the facts that he knew what he did was wrong. The Pennsylvania State Police need to investigate the officer that was his bodyguard and bring him up on charges also if the facts indicate the he aided and abetted the rape of that young woman. This just makes my skin crawl.
This man should be in jail. There are women who try to take rich people(Like the Seagal story), but this woman has back up witness. Multiple witness confirm the first thing out of her mouth was help me, I was raped. It was not hey, I just got lucky with a football player.
What should be the deciding factor is was the “ripped”. A woman who has willing sex with someone, would not have her genitals ripped. A woman forced to have sex, will be ripped and bleeding.
This is one of the reasons it is so important to have a victim checked at the hospital.
I just wonder why all these superstar types feel that they have to get a woman drunk before trying to get theirs. The fact that a 28 yr old man needs to engage 20 yr olds is sad in itself; the fact that sexual assault is not a strong enough crime like say, dog fighting is sadder! How do we send one guy to jail for dogs and then let a rapist stay in the game because he has two rings?

  16. mmdd1111 says: Apr 16, 2010 2:11 PM

WOW. corrupt police officers…who would have thunk it. The PA cops need to be fired as well. One is a PA Trooper and the other a Pittsburgh cop. Both should be fired. Whether on duty or not, they are supposed to serve and protect ( other then Ben’s deviant sexual assaults)

  17. Neen says: Apr 16, 2010 2:12 PM

This needed to happen. People reporting a crime should not be made to feel helpless. A victim of sexual assault has already been made to feel powerless, and should have felt safe about reporting the incident to an authority figure without fear of being re-victimized and humiliated.

  24. ECS - Brougham Boys 74 says: Apr 16, 2010 2:15 PM

The Rooneys should resign since they are a disgrace to every other owner in the NFL. How do you keep paying a RAPIST, Rooney? Oh yeah, because he makes you money. So SERIAL RAPE is okay, as long as the Rooneys make money. It’s unclear if they are okay with child rape, since the last victim was 20. But I’m pretty sure they’d be okay with it even if the victim was a child, because Little Jen Rapistberger is making them money, and that’s really all that counts. Morals, decency, being a good human being and a positive member of your community – all of those are less important to the Rooneys than making money.

  41. Dr. Steve says: Apr 16, 2010 2:29 PM

It appears to me that the laws of society apply to everyone but members of the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc.
Over and again a player is caught using some illegal substance. While anyone else would face a felony charge and a prison sentence, in professional sports it’s handled in house and the player gets a reprimand or game suspension.
In a sexual abuse case like Ben Roethlisberger’s, it is apparent that when a woman says “No”, it is okay for Ben to force her to have sex. Anyone else would be facing a rape charge and going to prison. “No” means “No!” anywhere else, but not in Ben’s case. He gets a pass because he is a professional athlete and has a police officer like Jerry Bash covering for him.
The police report states Roethlisberger already had his penis out as he walked toward the woman. For anyone else that would be a charge of indecent exposure. Not in Ben’s case, though. No charges were made against him, again because he’s protected by his professional status.
Oviously, the laws of our society apply to the general population. However, it is clear that professional athletes are not required to obey the same laws. They can do drugs, rape women, expose themselves and it isn’s even considered a crime. In Ben’s case, for example, the NFL called it nothing more than a “serious matter.”
Now I ask, what’s wrong with this picture? And, why are decent people willing to put up with it? Where is the outrage?

This case must be reopened and justice must be served. If Ben is innocent (and the more I read..the less likely that seems)….then let it be shown in court. If he is guilty….then let him face the music for what he did.

It is NOT the job of a police officer to discourage a possible crime victim from filing charges…no matter how much money or how famous a person may be. This cop intentionally tried to get this girl to not file a report or charges against a guy who’s ass he was kissing earlier in the evening. I don’t know if he was one of Ben’s “posse” or bodyguards…but either way….he intimidated this girl with his words. He should be charged…and this god damn case better be reopened. There was a crime committed (and to the few people who are still defending this piece of crap rapist…..give it a rest…there is more than enough evidence through witnesses now……and again..if someone is too drunk to say no …it is considered rape……but this girl DID say no. You have no grounds to stand on. The rape kit showed she had been violated…..it just didnt have enough of Ben’s DNA to prove it. But do the math and stop defending this guy…..he is guilty

Drinking underage is sure sign that there’s NO WAY shecould have possibly been raped. Girls that drink underage have never been raped and give it up willingly in dingy bathrooms because that’s how they are.
Did I mention she had some kind of pin on asking to be treated like this. Its practically consent. What a gold digger. How many lives has this golddigging tramp ruined?

Kind of funny that 3 sober cops on the scene all said the same thing, and yet we have been led to believe the drunk sorority chicks with “Down to F***” on their nametags.
If this thing had ever gone to trial, there would have been a huge credibility gap favoring the facts that favored Big Ben.
Too bad the three cop’s side of the story wasn’t salacious enough to warrant all the media attention.

I realize this is a complex case and you have a simple mind, but if you’re going to throw my name into a post, at least try to get it right. I have better things to do with my day than try to correct your misinformation.
    Wrong cop.
This is not one of the sober Pennsylvania cops acting as Ben’s bodyguards that night (which is what you’re referencing in my previous post). Yes, I do think the statements of sober witnesses are more reliable than the statements of drunken witnesses. I’m sure if you drop the keyboard right now and call the Cleveland PD and put that question to them, they’ll back me on that.
This is one of the cops the drunken sorority sisters dragged their drunken friend to on the street that night. These cops asked a few questions, then sent the woman to the hospital and dispatched a detective to the hospital to take over the case. Blash did not have any further role in the investigation.
Sorry to interrupt the lynch mob with the facts. Carry on.
And trickbunny, I’m sure you do want everyone to chant names at Roethlisberger whenever he’s on the field. You’ve beaten the Steelers what? Once? It’s not like you can hope to win any other way.
What do you call someone who uses a rape accusation–even though the authorities closed the case–as a way to manipulate the outcome of a football game? Demented or desperate?

  80. robert ethan says: Apr 16, 2010 3:50 PM

Don’t make too big a deal about the T shirts. The girls got their DTFs as a joke at a birthday party, and Roethlisberger got his Satan shirt because it was the only one they had left in an Extra Extra Fat.

  81. Heart Of Steel says: Apr 16, 2010 3:52 PM

Who’s to say this girl didn’t follow Roethlisberger from bar to bar (as various witnesses stated), got hammered, was looking for a hookup (hence the DTF pin), used this as a golden opportunity to not only bang a celebrity but get millions in return?
Who in their right mind would cry rape (or as she claimed, “kinda raped”), then drop charges long before the D.A. concludes there is not enough evidence to go to trial?
Make no mistake, Ben is stupid for even being at a college bar, let alone going into a bathroom with a girl for some action.
HOWEVER, you can only speculate what happened that night. It’s a he said, she said case and it’s been proven that there is not enough evidence for charges to be filed.
Believe what you want, it only matters on these message boards. At the end of all of this, Ben will be on the field at some point, in some team’s uniform, making millions of dollars as people cheer him on.

  82. seanx says: Apr 16, 2010 3:56 PM

I find these discussions fascinating. I don’t really know what happening in that bar that night. Neither do any of you.
Do I think Ben is an entitled over-grown frat spoiled frat boy asshole? Yes. Most pro atheletes are.
Do I think Ben uses women like Kleenex? Yes. Most pro atheletes do too.
Do I think Ben is a rapist? I don’t know. I think most of his life women have thrown themselves at him, so he has no idea of how to relate to them. He just thinks he can have sex with any woman. And probably usually does.
I think the incident in that bar is probably like a lot of sexual encounters between young drunk people. What happened is blurry to both people. I am sure we have all had sex with people we met at bars. While drunk.

  83. CKL says: Apr 16, 2010 4:03 PM

Anyone who thinks Ken Wisenhunt would ever want to coach BR again is probably dreaming. BR completely trashed KW in the press after KW left the Steelers. Why? Because …you know…KW had the gall to coach him at all. Arians is BR’s yes man which is why BR loves Arians.
The poor relationship between BR and any coach who has had the gall to coach BR or try to tell him what to do or contradict his silly drama queen injury nonsense in the media (BOTH TOMILIN AND COWHER have had issues with BR embellishing his injuries in the press…so clearly it’s those men’s fault and not BR’s…not)is one reason I have maintained that BR is what he is…a bully who doesn’t like to hear no. AND a guy who loves attention and to be looked at as some brave hero. IMO both those things play into why he has the relationship with women he has. He picks women who are drunk, far younger or far far below him in the power structure (groupie vs NFL QB) so he can feel like a big man. If he were a REAL MAN…he could be happy dating a lady who was his equal like Missy P or that golfer. But they are very accomplished & independent and have their own lives and careers and don’t NEED BR so they probably didn’t spend their time together feeding his pathetic ego. Hence why they didn’t last with him. He’s a peter pan…he won’t grow up.

I think Ben should face discipline for poor judgment but that it should come from the Steelers, not the League. I’m fine with whatever the team decides, including suspension.
Now … please name ONE player Goodell has suspended without an arrest or failed drug test on his record. Just one. But you’d better have your facts straight because I’ll check them. And let me give you a helping hand: Pacman Jones had a half-dozen arrests, charges, pleas, probations, and sentences–and was involved in two shootings in a four-month period–before his first league suspension. So that’s not a good example.

The EVIDENCE isn’t there and it will not somehow appear out of thin air!
Ben is guilty of poor judgment and repugnant behavior that much we know to be true BUT none of us knows what happened that night not even the accuser due to her intoxication. There was not even enough evidence for an arrest to be made.
There could be a 1,000 different scenarios that went down that night and yes it may have been rape but we do not know.
Sorry cry babies but Big Ben stays a free man until the next alleged victim (if there is one) actually takes a stand and does the right thing by following through on a prosecution….ghee imagine that…you see here we all have a right to face our accuser in a court of law and present BOTH sides to a jury that is when you have evidence and facts to go so far!

ECS – Brougham Boys 74 – you are a soccer fan, aren’t you?? FYI – The Rooneys OWN the team… they cannot resign.
As to others: keep in mind you are all hearing one side of the situation… BR has never had the opportunity to question the legitimacy of these statements, the witnesses’ veracity, the quality of the evidence (DNA, etc. — whose was it – male/female? – keep in mind it was too small a sample to verify a person’s makeup; could the injuries been caused by ‘personal toys’ used earlier in the evening, where were all the members of the palooza party or the restaurant workers, were all the girls drunk at or near the level of the accuser, etc. — questions a good attorney would ask and investigate for a client). Fred Bright’s show the other day was the equivalent of presenting to a grand jury (he was playing to the Court of Public Opinion – he is an elected official and wants to look strong for his re-election – so he has motive) (the ‘defendant’ does not have the opportunity to dispute/ question anything). The DA presents only his/her best evidence – while leaving out the parts that don’t fit the theory. Don’t forget you were all against the Duke players initially… based on what the DA said but when their attorneys began the defense it changed quickly. In addition, the majority of us know what it is like when we have reached brown/black out point…. you remember bits and then it becomes melded together and, if you remember, you may learn later that the sequence you have in your head is out-of-order, and you’ve attributed actions to the wrong person.

    * A bunch of scanks with no dignity or self respect were whoring around at bars.
    * Ben had sex with one of them in a filthy bar restroom. Reeeeeeeal classy. In and out the door in 10 minutes? 10 whole minutes? Wow, easy there, stud.
    * Drunk-off-her-ass scank says she was raped.. kinda.. sorta… maybe… close enough.
    * Cop, also googly-eyed over the prospect of being buds with a football player (who cares), was a little bias in his report-taking, comments.
    * Ben dumps a suitcase of money in said scank’s lap to not pursue the matter further. (Allegedly, suspectedly, presumably)
Do I have it pretty close?
I guess my only question is… how were the under-aged scanks allowed into the bars, and served alcohol? Why haven’t the bars and/or scanks been charged for under-aged drinking? If Ben was buying the scanks shots, why hasn’t Ben been charged with providing alcohol to under-aged scanks?

Now within the 562 pages released by the GBI, there was ANOTHER woman which claimed the same thing happened to her in Las Vegas.
ARE YOU THAT SSTTTUUUPPPIIDDD? You are fighing an uphill battle now. And apparently that attack you claim happened to you was a lie. How about having a multitude of flashbacks to remind you how it felt, if in fact what you say is true? WHO CARES GOODELL HASN’T SUSPENDED WITHOUT AN ARREST? It’s going to happen now. And yes, Goodell can do it too! What’s going to stop him? The union can’t get involved with punishments handed down by the commish. I doubt they would say anything about whoever hands them down when it comes to Ben. In the end, that’s just more spotlight placed on the rapist. I’m sure Ben wants more of that!!
One earlier posting was right. You would defend Osama Bin Laden if he wore black and gold. Heck you would even defend Satan at this point! YOU ARE A LOW LIFE PIG! It is also obvious that you are jealous of this girl in the first place. You wish you were her saying no and him doing whatever he wanted to you. The prosecutor is prosecuting Ben in the court of public opinion. He’s done a very good job! Ben just shut up and do you job. If I were Ben I would not contribute anything about my private life from now to infinity. “It’s football or nothing at all.”
As far as the world is concerned, Ben is on a spiritual retreat and lives like a hermit in his Georgia mansion. To further drive home the point, I would put an imposing iron fence around the property and have at least 3 Dolberman Pincers running free at all times.

man.. was everybody bought and paid for.. including the popos? say it ain’t so.. deb..

Just a question to no one in general…. Is wearing an item of clothing or apparel that states, “Down to F*K” an invitation to sexual intercourse even if said person says “no” TWICE during a sexual encounter?
My father and community I grew up in taught me that once a woman says no it means STOP even if its in the middle of the act and no matter how intoxicated the woman is. I was also taught consequently not to take advantage of inebriated persons.
Have any of you been taught different or does your clothing or mental state somehow imply consent to sex acts regardless of any verbal communication between parties involved?

RebaT you are so thick. I know sarcasm is hard to detect in text but sheesh I was laying it on pretty thick. Golly Gee.

I am sure we have all had sex with people we met at bars. While drunk
Many of us had the decency to leave the premises at least.
    ===========================
And also the decency to have the consent of the other before engaging in a fore mentioned drunken sexual encounters.

RebaT is a bitter lonely dyke.
    Let her be.

If a girl raped me I’d be totally cool with it.

    @Dawn …
Thanks for the link. I’ve never seen the documentation on the conversation with Roethlisberger, so I didn’t know who conducted that interview. The police chief said several times that Blash had no involvement in the investigation beyond the initial conversation with the accuser–that’s what I was going by.
The DA talked as though more than one officer was present when Roethlisberger was interviewed. But he said Roethlisberger only said a couple of sentences before one of the men in his group said he shouldn’t say more without an attorney.
I’ve really tried to stick to the facts in everything I’ve posted. I’ve said from the beginning that Roethlisberger is a jackass, but that’s not a criminal offense. As the DA said, there’s not enough evidence for probable cause for an arrest, let alone a conviction. He said there was a lot of alcohol and plenty of blame to go around and he hopes they both learned something. That’s not the typical comment of a prosecutor who who thinks a rapist is getting away for lack of evidence.
I think two fools got drunk and behaved foolishly. It’s a sordid mess, but not a rape.
As for Ben, he’s a sleaze. Rather than having the league set a precedent, I’d prefer the Steelers deal with him. I’m 99 percent sure they’d suspend him, and I’d support whatever they decided. Why so many idiots interpret that as me defending Ben, I’ll never know.

    @Kevin DuBrow …
Since I’m not defending Roethlisberger and have made clear from day one that he’s a jackass and I’ll support whatever punishment the Steelers devise, it’s obvious that you haven’t read any of my posts. Or perhaps you’re just too stupid to grasp their content. So you’re just angling for a little attention. Now I’ve given it to you.
    Run along.

    Deb,
I love it when you talk like that….
And you have made it easy to point out your statements that have been incorrect…they are so numerous…..
The funny thing about your comments are the ones you direct at me actually describe you fairly well.
You just cant stand if someone challenges the “All Knowing Deb”……
Deb if you want to defend constitutional principles maybe this is not the site for you!!! Well maybe it is…atleast it will keep you busy.
You just keep making all of us look bad with your “factual” posts…keep them coming girl.
Deb, I doubled spaced for you so it makes it quicker and easier for you to cut and paste my comments…

I don’t know why everybody’s giving Deb a hard time. She’s just pointing out that if Roethlisberger did, in fact, commit a crime, he would have been convicted in an air tight case, regardless of his celebrity status. On a related note, she’s going to help me in my ongoing search for the killers of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Has anyone ever seen trickbunny and bunbun in the same place at the same time??
    Methinks you have a cyber-stalker!!!
A cyber-stalker that is so pathetic he actually has multiple forum names!!!! His life must suck!!

@Kevin DuBrow….Dude, welcome to the stupid club. Made up of all the posters that Deb has determined are beneath her…..
@Deb…you told Kevin DuBrow – it’s obvious that you haven’t read any of my posts…uhhh that makes 2 of us…

You can’t refute the factual information and lack the profundity to discuss deeper issues of personal responsibility and equal justice regardless of status–which sometimes can be more difficult to obtain for the famous than the homeless. So you find threads where simpletons hurl insults and rush to piggyback on their posts. Strength in numbers. Sorry, I can’t relate. I’ve always been able to stand on my own. That’s what comes of having the courage of your convictions.
Does it make you feel classy to gang up with the boys? Wouldn’t your little girl be proud?

  137. MasterShake says: Apr 17, 2010 1:24 PM

    Calm down.
Per TMZ, Jerry Blash admitted that he said something similar to “this f–king bitch is drunk”
He said sofa king beach front. He’s Mel Gibson.

The one important piece of information that’s being left out by those pretending not be defending Roethlisbger but really are is this:
Those bodyguards blocked the entrance to the VIP room, and as were instructed by boss Ben, they didn’t allow men but did allow women only into the room. Once in the room, the women were supplied booze by Roethlisberger.
This story would not be nearly so tragic had Roethlisberger been partying with both males and females. Perhaps shaking a few hands and talking some football.
Instead, he was on the prowl — and with the aid of his bodyguards and free alcohol — he was searching exclusively for potential sexual partners.
He obvioulsy choose the woman who had shown the most interest … and also was the most intoxicated.
Trade him … while he still weighs only 300 lbs. and before he reaches the 350 mark.

  139. bobzilla says: Apr 17, 2010 10:27 PM

Deb says she’s 99 percent sure the Steelers will suspend Roethlisberger. Really? Nintey-nine percent? What’s with the only one percent?
I am 50 percent sure the Rooneys will trade him… if they can find a taker.
As for all those day-one posts in which she claims to have said that Roethlisberger is a jackass: Nope, never happened.
In fact, OTHERS were the jackasses (or worse) if they even hinted that her beloved Big Ben might have been involved in any wrongdoing.
    Just trying to stay factual.
