Uh, that’s just wrong Bun McSticky. 16 mil for 3 years for the most dominant DT in the league is not bad at all. That’s if some team wants a good deal on a huge pain in the ass.

Nobody is going to take Haynesworth with that contract and Haynesworth sure as hell won’t give up money to be traded.
Skins have already paid him the bulk of his guaranteed salary. His remaining salary is low and very affordable.

He is the third journeyman defensive lineman to be signed in the past 7-days, the second with stumpy NT dimensions. They are just filling out their off-season roster so they can get through their mini-camps and training camp.

He could be a really effective nose tackle, he doesn’t want to play there because he doesn’t want to be used to occupy blockers. He wants to build his own stats, to be the star.
He should take a look at what the Cowboy’s NT Jay Ratliff can do from the NT position. The new defense Haslett is installing will likely give Haynesworth far more freedom than he experienced last year in Blache’s rigid 4-3.

Even if they sit his Fat A$$ down all year, I would not care. He is not worth the headaches. He was signed by someone that knew he was out the door and he tried to make a big splash.

To answer your question the big deal can potentially be a very big deal. One, it keeps him happy, which is important so you don’t lose a bunch of money on a whiner. Secondly, he can line up at a left 3-4 end and tie up the right tackle and guard, where most teams tend to run anyway. Haynesworth, when healthy and motivated (and yes I know that is a big if), he is nearly unstoppable. Now consider some blitzing from the outside that would funnel the running game inside and force the QB to step forward into a hard driving D-Line. Truth be told, the Redskins are a year away from fully implementing the strength of a 3-4. But if they are somehow able to trade back and recoup a second round pick where they can draft a pash-rushing OLB, then it could happen sooner than later.

Go ahaed and work it out with fat Assbert! Have one of these other guys rotate at NT and play 92 at ends! Yeah hes a d bag but hands down top 5 d lineman in the nfl! So yes hopefully this move means they will play Al at end! Lets make it work skins! Yall got portis on board now time to kiss and make up wit fat assbert! Oh yeah why r we switching to 3-4 again? If im not mistaking hasletts defenses sucked in NO consistently! I guess the saga continues!

The Green signing will have ZERO impact on the Skins decision on Haynesworth…
—If you are going to speculate, this signing has more of an impact on Mark Brunell and Kellen Clemens if it allows the Jets to add another UFA (depending on salary)

You left out another benefit and maybe the most likely one. This signing could mean that Haynesworth won’t have to play NT and can instead play the 3-4 end position in the base defense and move to DT on passing downs. That scenerio would probably be enough to keep Albert happy and with his size he could dominate the 5-technique.
