Roethlisberger suspension expected Wednesday

It looks like Florio’s abacus needs to go in for repairs.

Ben Roethlisberger’s suspension is expected  come on Wednesday, according to a tweet from Mark Maske of the Washington Post.  A previous report from Yahoo! said the suspension would come by Tuesday, but it looks like that will be at least a day off.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter also quotes a source that would be “very surprised” if Roethlisberger’s suspension comes out Tuesday.  Schefter said no one is exactly certain when the announcement will arrive, but the league wants to resolve the issue quickly.

Maske also writes that Roethlisberger will accept the suspension if it’s not “too harsh.”

We’re wondering what would define “too harsh” here.  Our best guess: anything more than a four game suspension could create an appeal.

How many days does the sorority accomplice get for her role in this deviance? After all, she was the one tugging on him, holding him and luring him when she clearly saw he was imbibing.
    Smells bad, obvious gold-digger setup.

This is silly. Why you gonna hate on a guy who went after a chick thats pet name is apparently DTF on facebook. ( Down to ‘F’ )
This is another example of hoes tryin to bring a man down. Every guy knows how devious women can be, especially when her needs aren’t satisfied. An since there was NO PHYSICAL evidence means Big Ben ( that what the ladies call him) didnt smash this broad & thats why she ran her mouth

The delay might,if true,be attributed to Roethlisberger’s agent being stuck in Paris and they’re waiting for the wind to shift.
This opens up the interesting possibility that the entire landscape of the draft could be changed by teams playing games in London as they are apt to choose the BPA from Hawaii as they should be more tolerant to volcanic ash.

Or Tom Brady. Or David Ortiz. Or any member of the Fab Five. Or Jimmy Page. Or Elvis Presley. Or Muhammad Ali. Or Charles Oakley. Or Governor Ed Rendell.
Or, pretty much anyone else to this level of frequency.

  29. jerseykingpin says: Apr 19, 2010 11:08 AM

Also, we can’t be too patriarchal here. We can’t apply what academics call a “gender construction.” You have two people here being sexual with each other throughout the night and both are impairing their judgments with alcohol. The night ends with an encounter that appears to have been ambiguous and was regretted. That’s what a prudent look at the facts shows. And it is perfectly permissible to criticize either Roethlisberger or anyone else for having an ambiguous encounter with a stranger when both he and the stranger were suffering from impaired judgments after a night of sexual flirting. But what is NOT okay is to lynch Roethlisberger and call him a “rapist,” when the facts supporting that allegation are not even worthy enough for an accusation under the law (probable cause).
And what may be worse is the media showing only the accuser’s day-after (second) accusation, and not its surrounding difficulties. I wonder how many in America know right now that the accusation began with sorority sisters who objected to a drunken encounter, not with the accuser herself? Or that, even in the hospital, the accuser could not say the matter was clearly against her wishes at the time. How many today on the A.M. talk radio take the accuser’s second-day version as “the accusation” rather than as a significant derogation of what all the evidence that night suggested?
Here’s my point. I have no problem with criticizing Roethlisberger for numerous things. I have no problem if the league goes after him just for having drunken and reckless encounters with strangers. My only concern is that they go after him on the FACTS — not on this yellow journalism stuff. Stop the witch hunt, please.

Listen, I absolutely have not condoned what Ben did from a judgement standpoint, and think he will get some suspension under the Personal Conduct Policy. But to suggest no criticizm of this girl is outrageous. She should also be held accountable for her actions, and I hope at some point she is subjected to similar scrutiny as Ben has been publicly.

This is so reminiscent of the Duke Lacrosse aftermath, where all the “fathers of girls” came out of the woodwork and torched four totally innocent boys for “raping” a gold-digging b*tch.
How do we know this is not the same thing?
Sure, Ben has got to stop hanging around people like this, but really, other than the woman’s story, and her friends, there is no evidence that Ben even had sex with her. People are innocent until proven guilty, and since Ben will never be proven guilty, he is INNOCENT.
Ben has to change his ways, has to start hanging around people who are out of college, and probably should look to settle down or at least date high profile people like Jeter, but to just assume what the woman said is right is ridiculous. Just because Ben is “280” pounds like some person said above, does not mean its true. Just because a drunk woman who changed her story after the first night says something, doesn’t make it true.
How does Kobe, who admitted he slept with the alleged victim, and was CHARGED with rape get off, but Ben, who hasn’t been charged with a thing, where there is no evidence he even slept with her, let alone admit it himself, gets put away for half the season. Come on. This is still America.

Suspension: 2 to 4 games. By mid-season the storm will quiet down. Ben finds faith and marries a nice lady. His reputation slowly mends except for the “holier than thou” crowd, along with AFC North rivals. They keep it going out of frustration. The girl got paid. It will be over in a few months. Nonetheless, the once-proud Pittsburgh franchise now has to bite their tongues. The Ravens still have an accomplice to murder on their roster so they have nothing to say. The Bengals? Not many good citizens on that club. Good coach, bad owner. Criminal element is very much a part of that team’s makeup. Then you have the Browns….. Something about a “mistake by the lake”. The AFC North ain’t what it used to be. Kicker: They probably all voted for Barrack Obama.

Whew. What a relief. I mean, every single gold digger every born just decided to narrow their target to Big Ben. And people have the audacity to blame him for this bad luck!

“It looks like Florio’s abacus needs to go in for repairs”.
No it’s his brain that needs help and his hairpiece of course…I could write several stories about THAT thing!

  70. Mooch says: Apr 19, 2010 1:16 PM

Maybe the gold diggers are all racists. Which is why they passed on Kobe and all decided to go after Ben.
The league has every right, and significant financial interest, in suspending him. Learn about business, the NFL, and the real world.
The NFL can shut you down for not signing an autograph if it wants to. And the NFLPA is a partner in that level of player control.
    Please.

  71. Mooch says: Apr 19, 2010 1:19 PM

Idiot? Well, of course he is – he is from Ohio.
But I don’t see many people from Ohio, even those far more recognizable, wealthier and famous than Big Ben, getting accused time and time again.
    Odd, huh?

  72. queenie says: Apr 19, 2010 1:24 PM

I’m guessing a 2-4 game suspension without pay and that’s heavy for no conviction let alone an arrest…but it looks like the mob mentality is at work here and I guess that is the price one pays when you have a QB who is as dumb as a box of rocks who plays on a team that has been as successful as ours has.
And yea I’d love to read those comments if he did appeal it….oh my god can you imagine….I mean their panties are all in a bunch now that I can’t even go there…well okay I did go there…but I mean I’m just saying is all.
    GO STEELERS!

Deb- For the record, I stopped reading your novellas of bullshit awhile back and do not intend to start in the near future. So whatever your reply contained after the 1st line is lost on me- just to note, my reply was to the fool who I quoted in my post and directed at him, not at you and not necessarily at your bff Ben either. I know, I know Ben’s dumb but that’s excusable- I’ve managed to surmise that from your 10 million postings, blah blah blah.

  76. No-I-In-team says: Apr 19, 2010 2:18 PM

After reading the case documents it is clear that it may have benefitted Ben in the long run to have this go to trial, or at least a grand jury. As it is the media has taken second-hand “Witness” statements as fact and used them to drive up page hits for their websites. When one views the actual reports produced by a MONTH-LONG investigation it becomes clear that at the worst this situation was a couple of people who may or may not have screwed around in bathroom after a night of flirting and drinking. Is Ben an idot? I don’t think we need a jury to determine that, of course he is. But when the accuser drops the case without offerring any further information to the police, and then disappears into the mist without anyone ever being able to confirm anything, it leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Instead of trying to answer those questions the media has decided to hang the accussed even though the authorities decided it wasn’t even necessary to interview him a second time. Perception is reality for the lemmings in this country. If the media reports it, then it must be true. Never mind that they generally report what will sell papers/magazines/and page hits.

guys guys guys, why we acting crazy, this a simple case of boggarting the pus, any jock no thats what we do if a girl get drunk dck get hard somebody got to give it up the 1 thats drunk is the easy target why? she won’t remeber so we hope, then our own arrogants give us the authorithy to justify our behavior buy caller her a whore and she desevere it, but the bottom line is (it’s still called rape), i don’t see her asking for momey in fact the money subject has not come up from her side so fellow stop tripping, it is what it is, and if you never done it am sure you heard about some jock that did, back in the day, brothers or father where likely to get a charge behind this inmature behavior so stop tripping.

Hey genius, who ever said I support vick? He’s scum just like your rapist QB. They both should be out of the league forever as far as I’m concerned.
This thing has nothing to do with what team you are a fan of, it has to do with what is right. Anyone who supports the guy just because he plays for the steelers is just as much a scumbag as he is.

Mooch — You are dumb. You have no idea what you are talking about. Must be from Cinn.
Cincyalldaway — Cincy all the way- Enough said! Doesn’t have a clue. Idiot.
Jerseykingpin — you are the only one who is making any sense.
Go back to school all you Steeler haters.
    Mooch — Know your facts!

Next time you want to write an essay on the ethics of football, please don’t. Just stick to writing about the Pine Barrens and mafia ties in Atlantic City. That would be so much more interesting.
Rape is ugly…but so are women who cry rape and then drop charges. She can’t claim she was afraid of Ben – everyone knows who he is and he’s been under a public lock-and-key since the alleged incident. So, why did she not go forward with prosecution?
BTW – what the h3!! happened to Ben’s wife? When he was a rookie he was supposedly married and had kids? Did she dump him or did he dump her or were they just co-habitating? She was supposedly his high school sweetheart. Guess cheerleaders and football captains don’t always make for a happy couple.

  81. Mooch says: Apr 19, 2010 5:39 PM

A guys responds to eight people with “nuh uh, your stupid” and then tells us to get the facts.
    Laughable.
You must be from Ohio or Western PA.

Never defended Roethlisberger. Just posted the facts from the authorities. Unlike you, I believe in telling the truth.
My post are too long for you because you aren’t very bright.
You’re also low class and have the manners of bar trash. Rest easy. Won’t waste more pearls on swine like you.
    Short enough?

  83. Josh Krauss says: Apr 19, 2010 6:21 PM

Considering that he contributed alcohol to a minor and then once he got her drunk proceeded to rape her a lifetime ban wouldn’t be too harsh. This guy doesn’t deserve to wear an NFL uniform, he is a dirt bag and he deserves to go to prison for the next 20 years. Everyone talking about how this effects him and his career, what about the 20 year old girl he raped this has ruined her life forever, she will never be able to have a normal life all because he is a P.O.S dirt bag.

Didn’t say you did- I said you seem to concede his stupidity but feel that’s forgiveable.
‘Just posted the facts from the authorities. Unlike you, I believe in telling the truth. ‘
Did I lie? My first comment above to myeaglescantwin was meant in a ‘why yes asshole commenter that’s a possibility but another is that she was raped.’
‘My post are too long for you because you aren’t very bright. You’re also low class and have the manners of bar trash. Rest easy. Won’t waste more pearls on swine like you.’
