Great trade for the Bucs. Leftwich was probably going to be cut anyway. Would’ve been nice if Tampa could’ve somehow landed Limas Sweed in this trade deal as well…even if it meant sending a 6th rounder to Pitt.

OK, you can take any roster in the league and go through the names and find many a turd and jerk…..but Ben-a-palooza has taken turdism to a whole new level. Motorcycle accident (sans helmet), Lake Tahoe, Milledgeville, and all teh minor stuff (turn your hat around, you look like a dumbass). Been a Steeler fan since the days of John Henry Johnson and I won’t watch ‘em if Ben-a-palooza is on the team. Trade him? Hell, just cut his ass and let Byron, Dennis, Charlie and whomever they draft fight it out. Does anybody remember who the Raven’s QB was when they won the Super Bowl? Yes, QB is an important position but team is more important. The Steeler fan base has quite a female following, females with daughters and grandaughters and sisters. They will not forget what Ben-a-palooza did. Nor will us old guys with daughters and grandaughters. He can’t stay in Pittsburgh, he won’t say stay in Pittsburgh. What he has done is much worse than what Santonio did. OK, I rambled, I admit it.

Multiple witnesses in Georgia say the accuser was chasing Ben from bar to bar, engaged in sexual banter and telling him she was “down to f–k.” The rape kit was negative. As I’ve repeatedly acknowledged, his behavior fits a pattern of immature, drunken debauchery and I hope the “scared straight” tactics of the Steelers/League are successful. If not, he’ll continue to wreck his life … and perhaps wind up making porno buddy flicks with Sean Salisbury.
Your posts also fit a pattern–of desperate rantings by a rival fan who, for all his posturing, has no deeper understanding of sexual assault issues than Roethlisberger likely has of nuclear physics. But thats not nearly as bad as the fans who actually think Ben won’t be traded or that if he is that he actually has any trade value! I’m going out on a limb here but how many teams do actually think will be lined up to trade anything of value for a damn rapist?? LMFAO!!!

Well I believe the Steelers would trade Ben for a 1st and 3rd, as a player Ben is awesome but as a person not so much. The Steelers are said to be fielding offers not because they think he sucks, but because the fans in Pittsburgh have shown backlash about the issues surrounding him. If Seattle offered 14 and their 3rd I believe the Steelers would do it…Pittsburgh Steelers pride themselves on hard work and humble players…. But as a fan of another team, I def. hope they do it.

Regardless of how long Ben’s suspension will be it doesn’t change the fact that Flacco has never beaten the Steelers when Ben was at the helm, Carson Palmer has never won a playoff game (even with an awesome running game/defense last year LOL!), and the Browns, well, they are the Browns + Jake Delhomme!

Now I ain’t no mathemagician….but it seems to me there were 7 teams last year who they didn’t make look bad.
And they also didn’t look real sharp against an awful Titans team.
And they didn’t make Green Bay look especially bad in their win against them, or Baltimore in the second meeting.
In fact, if we set the benchmark at making a team “look bad” at a 2 TD margin of victory, the Steelers actually only made one team look bad last year.
Oh, you also lost to the Raiders, Browns and Chiefs. So, to conclude….STFU and GTFO.

Byron Leftwich is a smart move that makes all the sense in the world . With him being there in 2008 he knows the offense and the coaches . If the Steelers can provide him protection , he could easily lead them through the first half of the season .

I think the Steelers may want to increase the odds that one of the QBs can play well enough to make Roetlisberger redundant. When Byron first came to Pitt, he played in place of Ben, stopped a losing streak and had a better passer rating than Roethlisberger in limited playing time. There was a significant sentiment at the time that he should remain as starter even after Roethlisberger returned.
If he or Dixon, or even Batch gets off to a good start to the season, they won’t be pulling the guy off the field the moment Ben’s suspension is over. It will take a couple of bad games on the part of whoever is starting for them to give way.

trickbunny is a complete dope who lacks credibility. For all the posting that person does on EVERY thread about the Steelers, he doesn’t have a clue about the team or what it will or won’t do. Now hear this: The Steelers will NOT trade Ben. Ben will take his punishment lumps, quietly, and then get back to playing football and making other team’s defenses look bad. He did a dumb thing as I have said, but it has been blown way out of proportion now, and particularly with the facts about how the girl behaved (and who so far is getting off without any negativism in the press, shockingly so. She was a real role model herself, huh?). Frankly I think he should get less than the 4 games people are talking about. The NFL has to and should take some action, but they have to be careful about setting a precedent they will have to live up to.
So, Ben haters like trickbunny, get used to Ben and the Steelers making your team look bad for years to come. Have your fun for a while longer.
Ben is the QB of the Steelers. Byron is insurance for a while. Dixon must not be ready to take over for a few games.

You haven’t been watching pro football long, have you? A franchise QB is a consistent, proven winner/starter who probably has a contract in the neighborhood of $102 million or more. And no matter what he’s done off-field, he’s considered the team’s on-field general by doing thing like, oh, leading the team to three conference championships and two Super Bowls in five years and winning a Super Bowl in a clutch two-minute drive. Love him or hate him, Roethlisberger is a franchise QB.
Examples of other franchise QBs: Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb, Drew Brees. Examples of potential franchise QBs, people on the cusp: Mark Sanchez and Joe Flacco. Examples of serviceable QBs who are not “franchise” QBs: Marc Bulger, Derek Anderson, Sage Rosenfels, David Garrard, Byron Leftwich.

Lost in all this mess is the fact the steelers lost their best wr who has even come close to reaching his prime.
They have an ancient Hines ward and a 2nd yr unproven in mike Wallace who will see a lot more attention now that Santonio is gone.
If I was Ben I would be quietly seeking a trade and nudging for the warm weather in Fan Fran because there is gonna be a mess at wr in Pitt for a long time to come!

Even if the Steelers traded Roethlisberger, why would they want Trent Edwards? That’s subtraction by addition. In your scenario they’d be better off getting a 6th rounder instead of Edwards.
