Steelers expect Roethlisberger discipline Wednesday

The Steelers believe they will know how long Ben Roethlisberger will be suspended for before they draft Thursday.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has learned the Steelers expect to hear the verdict Wednesday. Commissioner Roger Goodell said he could possibly could announce the news during the draft.

The announcement shouldn’t change Pittsburgh’s draft plans.  Kevin Colbert said his draft priorities haven’t changed at quarterback this offseason.

Roethlisberger was on the field with his teammates for the second day of OTAs Tuesday.

  1. Think you can fit in a dozen more posts about when we are going to hear about his punishment between now and then?

  2. Goodell is going to run in front of the cameras with his weiner hangin out & make the announcement…..then he won’t let anyone leave.

  3. This is the second post today.. and the 3rd or 4th in two days saying that his discipline will be on Wednesday..
    Please..
    For the love of GOD..
    STOP!

  4. Good god, make it go away. All these ridiculous updates having me urning for the Favre retirement non-sense.

  5. nothing will turn your stomach more than seeing
this idiot on the field laughing it up with his team
I think he goes in the locker room pumping his fist and his team mates follow. What a disgrace.
The rooneys will go to church in the morning.

  6. Ha, one can only assume you are using a template post system for this. The style would be something similar to ‘Steelers assume Rapistberger to be disciplined .’ The great thing is you all use this multiple times a day. I’ll only be truly happy when I see the Thursday/Friday/Saturday versions of this article.

  7. Steelers must have an easy beginning to the schedule which is why they don’t want to announce the suspension like they did Pittsburgh a favor. Let’s see who they play the first 4 games.

  8. Ravens still rock Stitzburg’s ass- home and away with or without the rapist.
An 8 game suspension isn’t so bad when you consider that most serial rapists spend life behind bars getting roethleisbergered’ nite and day.

  9. @ Dixon29 – those two clowns were charged and convicted. #7 wasn’t charged with anything. Small difference that a Browns fan like you obviously wouldn’t understand. Crawl back under your rock and wait for rebuilding plan #5 in the last 10 years to kick in.

  10. Goodell is going to run in front of the cameras with his weiner hangin out & make the announcement…..then he won’t let anyone leave.
    LOL!!!!!

  11. While I expect to hear at least another report on what may or may not happen to this douche bag.

  12. MOAR updates! MOAR speculation! MOAR character assassination!
We want the red meat! MOAR! MOAR!

  13. blah..blah…blah…blah…blah….for all of you assholes out there that are hating the nation. We will be ready for your punk asses in the stands, just like the steelers will be ready once again for your teams punk asses on the field. It will be a bunch of ass kicking on Sunday’s.

  14. so will they announce the suspension during the draft, even though the Steelers will already know the decision on Wednesday? OMFG THE DRAMA

  16. I think Ben should sit out the season to reflect the sour taste he left in the great state of pennsylvania

  17. UNCLE!!! Thank God for the schedule release tonight. It will give Florio and Rosenthal something else to write about.

rmac, you beat me to it. If their schedule is front-loaded with weak opponents (Browns, Bills, Raiders) and/or likely losses anyway (Pats, Saints, Ravens), then we will know that the NFL is being tough on Ben but soft on the team.

  20. @steelcity79…
I can appreciate (not) your passion for the asses of other men. That’s your business, dude.
You and the RAPIST should probably seek some sort of counseling for deviant sexual behavior.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

  21. HAHA on that DVE site there’s a banner over a map that says Where’s your towel “Ben”? That’s just asking for trouble!

Like 2008 when you turds went 0-3?
You got lucky once last year, but it still took you till overtime to beat out 3rd string QB.
Yea, you guys sure strike fear into your opponents.

    That’s messed up..

  25. First, I am a life long Steelers fan. I for one think that no matter what the league/team does to him will not change the way he is fundementally wired, he is who he is. It is now up to the fans to take a stand and punish this guy and the team for not doing the right thing. My daughter has a #7 jersey that is now in an envelope heading back to team HQ with a searing note (not that that would make a difference) but if all Steeler nation sent their jearsey’s of #7 back demanding a refund, and stopped going to the games, that would send the necessary message. Then #7’s brand equity would never recover and he would suffer financially. If enough people did this and stopped going to the games, the Rooney’s would be forces to dump his ass. The ultimate response to the situation is in the hands of the fans.

  26. He’s going to be suspended for the fourth preseason game and the Steeler’s bye-week, regular season game. That’ll learn’em.

  27. steel city 79,,, bunch of your tough guys in yellow tried that crap at soldier field on Sept. 20 and were promptly heaed dunked in the tolilet try again tough guy try again

  28. steel 79, bunch of your tough guys tried that at Soldier Field on Sept 20th, ended up getting head dunked in the toilet, try agin internet tough girl try again

Just like you were ready for the Browns Bengals (twice i might add) Chiefs and Raiders last year…???
You sound like a real winner…and all you do is give credibility to the people that make fun of “the nation”
What are you suggesting you are gonna do in the stands this year? I am guessing take your frustrations out on opposing fans showing up in your house to watch their team win…
    HAHA!! Go play in traffic!

  30. I bet we bring back Leftwich — that way we have some added depth for the 2-4 games that Ben is suspended for. That was a perfect role for him in 08′ and Tomlin loves him. Batch is basically just a coach now so he wouldnt even care. Ben/ Dixon/ Byron = best QB trio in the league.

  31. The NFL has worked out well for the steelers in Bens case as it relates to schedule.
A week five bye to get him ready, and only Balt in week 4 that they probably can’t beat.
You watch, Goodell will give him 4 games, and then reduce it back to three.
    What a set up.
The guy needs to go for a season at least.

Nice parenting – teach your daughter that it’s okay to railroad people based on media spin.

    Don’t watch!

  34. Geez people, he did not do ANYTHING WRONG!! The worst he should get is probation. The media are the ones BLOWING this whole thing out of proportion. If they use BB to set/make an example, then every bimbo who has ever been scorned is going to make allegations against the players just to get even or score some $$. Yes, I kow there are bad guys out there, just don’t believe these two incidents are one of them. Also, they keep talking about a substance problem for BB, I don’t think any of the police reports have said he was drunk or worse in either case??? And the media keeps saying he bought/forced her to drink…not true, just because he buys THE ROOM a round of drinks, it is still the bars responsibility not to serve underage girls(VIP room or not). It is not Bens responibility to check ages. And finally Twenty years old is not underage when it comes to the alleged actions that took place in the bathroom. So people, leave Big Ben alone so he can go win #7 for the STEELERS. GO#7!!!!!

  36. True Steelers fans still stand behind Ben. He’ll be forced to sit out 2 games max. The only problem I see that he has is that he, like his accuser, has an alcohol problem. Both of them could use help from AA. I hope he turns things around and leads the STEELERS to another Super Bowl! Then all you fans of other teams that wish bad things on players from other teams just because they beat your team can hate even more.

  37. Ok Ben defenders. Please let me know how you can stand behind him when one of the clear facts is that he went into a bar bathroom with the intent to have sex. Please tell me how you find that to be acceptable behavior. Please tell me that this is how you would act and how you would also teach your children, boys or girls, to act.
Only filthy mutts would try to do what Ben did do.

  38. For all you Steelers fans turning your backs now, remember, its about the Uniform, not the players. Give you season tickets to those who want to watch games, and don’t dare jump back on the bandwagon. You are probably the types of people that quit tasks when they become difficult. If you don’t want to be a Steelers fan because of Big Ben’s incident, fine, but don’t come back when he is gone, we don’t want you.

  39. Iron City NC….
Well put. Ben wasn’t even charged and if all of you limp dicked bandwagoners can’t hack it start cheering for another team….I suggest the Browns.
You will then know pain and anguish and humiliation (and that’s just from driving through that post apocalytpic hole).
The team is bigger than any player. Get over yourselves you bunch of hypocrites.
