49ers trade up for tackle Davis at 11

The 49ers have pulled off the first trade of the 2010 NFL Draft, sending a fourth-round pick and their first-round selection at No. 13 to Denver in exchange for No. 11.

With the 11th pick in the draft, San Francisco selected Rutgers offensive tackle Anthony Davis.
Davis, a 6-foot-6, 325 behemoth, was regarded as the premier pass protector in the Big East last season.  He started all three years on campus, racking up 32 first-team appearances and finishing out his career at left tackle.
Despite a shaky offseason and history of weight fluctuations, the 49ers appear to view Davis as their left tackle of the future.  How long he takes to secure that position remains to be seen.  Incumbent blind-side protector Joe Staley — another recent first-rounder — is capable of playing both sides.

Did not have to trade up, had a shot to get either bulaga or davis with # 17. Bad, bad move by 49ers. Losing the their 4th round pick in the deepest draft in years. : (

Great pick for us. One of our major needs. Now we need to upgrade our pass rush and safety/corner back. Just hope he isn’t another 1st round bust like kwame harris.

You guys are all idiots. Green Bay was clearly going to draft Anthony Davis and we gave up a 4th rounder, if there is someone we desperately need in the 4th round we can trade for from next years picks but 4th/5th/6th/7th picks are all useless anyways, its like having a lottery ticket.

Idiots? So you say your prediction is better than ours? Stop being a punk. It’s my own thought on how I saw this draft unfold that’s it. For all I know we could call you an idiot for predicting that the packers would trade up to get him. A lot less likely than waiting two more picks to get Davis. It’s all prediction. What do you know, the packers stayed put and got the tackle that they wanted.

Yes you guys are idiots for insulting a pick based on nothing, thus my insulting you based on nothing. Glad we all got that. Anyway why are you morons bitching about the 49ers getting the 2 highest ranked o-linemen at their positions available? How about instead of complaining we focus on the fact that we got 2 good players? We don’t know would have happen had they not traded up but we know that we got 2 good players. So yes, I am calling all of you whiny, bitchy idiots.
