Hours before Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the bathroom of a bar, witnesses say he expressed fear of a lawsuit in declining an invitation to a sorority house.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette quotes a witness as saying that a student asked Roethlisberger if he wanted to go back to her sorority house.
“Hell no,” Roethlisberger responded, according to the witness. “That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen.”
It’s mind boggling that Roethlisberger could be cognizant of the danger of lawsuits and yet still act the way he acted that night. Did it never occur to him that providing alcohol to underage girls and then having sex with one of those girls could be a lawsuit waiting to happen?
The “lawsuit waiting to happen” statement would seem to suggest that after being sued by a woman in Nevada who accuses him of sexual assault, Roethlisberger decided he needed to change his behavior. And that he had a pretty warped view of what would constitute appropriate behavior.
