Philltesq – yes, but an interesting point is this. Ben went on the offense and called the accuser a crazy woman who was delusional. That he would not have placed himself in such a situation.
On the face of it, that looks to be the case in Nevada.
But now, in light of this new incident…it may not look so convincing to a jury in a civil suit.
In many ways, Ben’s lawyer going on the offense may be his undoing now. You can only attack if you are resigned NEVER to get into trouble again. If you err a second and third time, the woman looks less crazy.
And that is why the offer was pulled, and she will now get a truckload of cash.
Just outlining what happened, I make NO claims about what may or may not have happened in Nevada.

I love the fact that these Steeler fans who are sticking up for jackassberger are the same ones who ripped Ray Lewis for what may or may not have happened with him. The only difference is, the scumbag is now on the team we root for. As a huge Steeler fan, I cannot root for someone who keeps putting himself into these situations. How can his teammates back him? He gets suspended for 6 games and completely destroys what the team has worked for. The ultimate sign of self entitlement and selfishness. Karma is a much bigger dick than moronberger will ever be.

Well, duh! – yeah it is. It’s not a well known statute but it definitely is allowable. It is common knowledge in and around Pitt though because of the high prevalence of trailer parks.

If BB was wise, or has competent legal advice, write out a check, pay the woman off, and put it all behind him. He has enough problems right now without this still hanging over him. Guilty or not does not matter. He is a breath (or heavy breathing) away from a big suspension. What happens if he loses the civil suit? Will that be a trigger for another suspension? He needs to pack out the garbage from his previous life and try to learn and pick up the pieces of his life. I’m not a BB fan, just someone who has been around the block a few times and figured out it is sometimes the better part of courage to just accept defeat in a battle and go on to win the war. JMAO

Dunlap is nothing more than a sleavy ambulance chaser looking for a payday. The timing of the suit last season (to coincide with training camp) made it quite apparent that he was hoping to blackmail Ben and get a quick payday.

Once again, your legal acumen is in question.
If the accuser brings in character evidence against Ben, he is wholly entitled to bring in character evidence against his accuser. In other words, the accuser would essentially throw away all protections afforded her by any Rape Shield Laws in Nevada. This is basic first year law school stuff. You really think the accuser would want to open that door and allow a man of Ben’s means to dig around in her past?
Come on now. This is pure posturing by her counsel. She will likely get less of a settlement if her case is as weak as most people think it is.
