Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams said Thursday night that he’s thrilled to welcome Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant, the Cowboys’ first-round pick, to the team.
“If all goes well, not trying to talk noise, but if all goes well, we’ll have the best wide receiving [corps] in the league,” Williams told Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com. “Dez is a big dude, he can play. He will help us win some ballgames.”
Williams said he takes the selection of Bryant as a message to himself and the other receivers already on the Cowboys’ roster -- and it’s a message that they’ll all have to compete to have balls thrown their way, which Williams said he embraces.
“Yeah, [with] Dez it opens up competition, which brings out the best in the guys,” Williams said.
