Santonio sends an open letter to Steelers fans

On his official web site, Jets receiver Santonio Holmes bids adieu to Steelers fans via an open letter.  He also acknowledges the errors that resulted in the trade that sent him to New York.

“I have made some mistakes in my past that I am not proud of, but the
most important thing is that I have learned from them,” Holmes writes.  “God has given me
the opportunity to make a clean start and I am really excited about
moving forward in a positive direction.”

If he really wants to move in a positive direction, allow us to make a suggestion.  As to the image of the phone to the right of the letter, he probably should change the time to something other than “4:20“.

Not like the Jets are that bad of a destination, they were a hell of a lot better than the Steelers last year.

Seeing as how he went to The Ohio State University, and there’s no spelling errors in the letter, we can all be certain somebody else actually penned the letter.

Guess after the last couple of week’s events we won’t be seeing those commercials on the NFL Network featuring Big Ben throwing to Santonio Holmes in the Super Bowl anymore.
In retrospect Kurt Warner and the Cardinals winning that game sure would have had more meaning (like the Saints victory this year) than putting more Super Bowl rings on the fingers of a pair of morons like Ben and Santonio.

  16. lookout221 says: Apr 22, 2010 12:11 PM

Well, I was going to post about the 4:20 on the iphone, but someone beat me to it. Santonio, haven’t you learned? Don’t publicly admit to smoking pot.

  17. CT Stiller says: Apr 22, 2010 12:12 PM

Florio should really give credit to the “4:20″ reference to the guy who commented on Santonio’s site:
    “22 April 2010 @ 11:06 am
    by Donovan
lol at 4:20 on the phone to the right… subtle”
But what do you expect from Florio at this point, really?

  18. FreeAgentPro says: Apr 22, 2010 12:13 PM

I hope the large contingent of Jet fans at the draft hunt Florio down and drop a 420 lb weight on his head. Leave Holmes and the Jets alone, wannabe.

  19. Snibs says: Apr 22, 2010 12:14 PM

Bigstorm… I couldn’t agree more but you forgot to mention Florio’s ridiculously bad toupee!

Thats complete BS…the Jets are easily one of the most overrated teams in the NFL right now. They went 9-7 last year and backed their way into the playoffs. Wont be shocked if they dont make it at all this year.
Holmes will basically be taking a demotion and is playing with a QB who never be anything more than average. Quote me on that.

I’m all for Religion, if that is something you believe, but really? God had nothing to do with this, unless he is refering to Rex Ryan for acquiring him, but then I’d view him more as a buddah with a belly full of chi.

  31. CleanSlaton says: Apr 22, 2010 12:45 PM

Pot has its purpose, but obviously isn’t for everyone.
I just quit smoking after approximately 10 years of smoking it several times EVERY day.
The dilemma results from people telling others how to live their lives and what to do in them. If one doesn’t like pot, then one doesn’t have to smoke it.
That irritable dickhead in everyone’s office needs it; Priests in all religions need it; Musicians and artists need it; however, sorority girls that text while driving their SUV’s don’t need it, pro-athletes don’t need it, and elected officials don’t need it. Pot holds people back that exhibit no self control, which is what SHOULD be taught about any substance, instead of the myopic, blind hatred of something one doesn’t understand/try.
Santonio, if you can’t quit pot, you’ll have all the time in the world to smoke it when you’re not playing football anymore, i.e.-your next offense.
Oh, and not to mention it would help our economy in enumerated ways and set an example of tolerance the rest of the world can follow….

When was the letter written? was it 2 days ago… on 4/20? Are you sure you weren’t looking at the date on his Iphone and then seizing on an “Opportunity” to discredit, Florio?

  33. Ollie says: Apr 22, 2010 12:53 PM

The last three times you learned your lesson, I didn’t beleive you. This time I surely do!!

  34. Deb says: Apr 22, 2010 12:55 PM

    @Mooch …
People have been saying pot would be legal any day now for 25 years. Wrong. Most Americans oppose legalization. I support legalization even though I don’t use and think the NFL should adopt a don’t ask/don’t tell policy. But right now it’s illegal in most states, violates NFL policy, and Goodell is on a crusade. For Holmes to STILL have 4:20 on his site shows he hasn’t learned anything … and he’s an idiot.
The Rooneys would have let him go anyway when his contract expired because they don’t get into bidding wars for wideouts. I wish him well, but won’t be surprised if he shoots himself in the leg next week.

    LOL. Quote you? Jace814?
I love listening to Jets haters; nothing but an echo of some s*** they heard on the radio, and baseless speculation on the team’s talent.
If any of you took the time to watch the Jets last season, you’d see the only game we were “out” of was the 2nd NE game. Every other game came down to the wire.
Yea, the Jets were 9-7. what you fail to realize is we could have easily been 12-4 or 13-3. Considering we had a rookie QB who blew up mid-season, that speaks volumes of the talent everywhere else.

  37. Klytus says: Apr 22, 2010 1:28 PM

Thanks for your contributions with the Steelers. No one will forget “the catch”. We might show more enthusiasm if we hadn’t been whipsawed in the passed 6 weeks.
    GO STEELERS!

Just to let Fagio know… for future refrences.. and anyone else who’s killing Holmes for the 4:20 image on the iphone, like tcohan commented, it is the standard time on the iphone image.. check out the link above if u relly wanna know what ur talkin about… just dont want the rest of us to be like mike

  39. Deb says: Apr 22, 2010 3:16 PM

    @knicklord42 …
If that’s true, it’s an interesting marketing choice by Apple. But sorry, I’ll always love Santonio for that catch, and I wish him great things with the Jets … but even if that’s the standard time stamp on the iPhone image, it’s a mighty big coincidence that he has it on his page. He has a lot of images to choose from in building his Web site. Choosing that one–and not removing it under the circumstances–is foolish.

Man- all of you people bashing Florio are comical. If he sucks so much, why do you take the time to go to profootballtalk and then log on to comment? You probably are unemployed and jealous
