Bills G.M. says Tebow "was never in our plans"

On Thursday night, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that the Bills were targeting quarterback Tim Tebow.

Buffalo G.M. Buddy Nix said otherwise.

I love Tim Tebow,” Nix told Chris Brown of  “We spent a lot of time with him, and he’s a great kid.  And he’s gonna do well.  But he was never in our plans.  And we never intended to move up to take him. . . .  I will admit we tried to move up, but it wasn’t to take Tim.  It was another player, and he was gone.  So we didn’t.”

Our guess is that the Bills were trying to trade up to get nose tackle Dan Williams, a 3-4 nose tackle whom the Cardinals gobbled up at No. 26.

The Bills hold the ninth pick in round two, which if you hadn’t heard starts tonight at 6:00 p.m. E.T.

Nix totally stinks as a GM and the Bills will be in the toilet again this year.

Maybe they believe in Gailey’s ability to get one of the current QB’s good enough for next year and are gonna take Man Mountain Cody at the 40 spot. At least it would fill a need.
I still say trade up and get Colt to run that spread offense that Gailey likes.

Or, given the retirement of the Bills 26 year old LT, perhaps it was an attempt to move up for Bulaga?

Boy, between this and the whole trading Big Ben fiasco is it possible that Schefter has any credibility left with anyone? He’s become a joke.

  10. FireJerryJones says: Apr 23, 2010 11:50 AM

He was probably in bed by 9… same as on the eve of free agency.
Some teams just can’t get out of their own way.

so” boy genius west” moves up 15 spots for 2nd a 3rd and 4th round picks for a guy you could of reach for in the 2nd round. Wow I hope TT is the real deal in 3yrs LOL. PS also its one of the deepest drafts since 1983.

  15. BroncFanOr says: Apr 23, 2010 12:11 PM

  16. Sean Bateman says: Apr 23, 2010 12:15 PM

So they tried to move up to take a player who was already gone?

I am lost on my the Bills picked up C.J. Spiller. Yes I know Spiller is a baller but now they have 5 RB’s and they are hurting at the O-line position and the QB position. No way Jimmy C will be still on the board, if the Browns or Raiders are smart they will pick him up tonight, they both pick before the Bills do. The Bill screwed themselves on not getting a QB.

The Bills WILL NOT take a QB in the second round! For some odd reason they still Bill-eve in weak-armed captain checkdown Trent Edwards. I am and will always be a Buffalo Bills fan, but i am so confused to what the coaching staff in the B-lo is doing!

Florio, I love the sarcasm about the starting time of the draft tonight. More importantly, thanks for including it. I would have tuned in at 7:30…

Bills took the best player in the draft vs. WASTING a pick on a QB not worth the ninth pick. BILLS will pick OT and DT from here on out I HOPE. DO NOT DRAFT CLAUSEN or MCCOY (with the 41 pick) PLEASE!!! they are not the future
Spiller was a good pick up!!!!!
    Nix IS GOOD!
    Chan scares me.

  22. Tcostant says: Apr 23, 2010 3:53 PM

My guess he is not being truthful. The Bills wanted Tim Tebow, just ask Jim Kelly’s wife!
