Jerry Jones: “We won’t be moving Roy”

It didn’t take long after Dez Bryant was drafted before speculation started about Roy Williams’ future. Heck, we may have started it.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says we should shut our yappers.

“We won’t be moving Roy,” Jones said Thursday night.

As skeptical as we are of everything said around the draft, we believe Jones here. The reason is simple: Williams has already received a guaranteed $9.5 million bonus this year. He’s due another $3.45 million in salary.

Essentially, Williams is a sunk cost for 2010. So he’ll stick around for another year in the “best group of receivers” in the league. Jones even says Williams will start across from Miles Austin, with Dez Bryant coming off the bench.

Just don’t expect that arrangement to last very long.
