Report: Raiders eying offensive tackles

According to NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora, the Raiders are eying offensive tackles with the 39th overall pick.

It’s another indication that owner Al Davis is not ready to give up on 2007 No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell, who recently weighed in at 290 pounds.

In particular, La Canfora says the Raiders are high on Indiana’s Rodger Saffold. Saffold, a four-year starter for the football-challenged Hoosiers, appears to be higher on Davis’ draft board than popular first-round Raiders mock pick Bruce Campbell and Charles Brown, an athletic two-year starter from USC.

Saffold has been projected to to play right tackle, left guard, and possibly left tackle -- his college position -- at the next level. He was also heavily rumored to Indianapolis in the first round, before the Colts settled on pass rusher Jerry Hughes.
