He is a WR…he came into ole miss as a reciever thenthey CONVERTED him into a rb, reciever is his natural position. I dont expect you guys to read up on the guy as much as i hace seein as how much of a chiefs fan he us but the chiefs really arent changing anything about him he was a rb and a reciever in college they are just scratching out the rb part

He played fulltime WR in his first two years, but after realizing how much of a playmaker this guy was…they wanted the ball in his hands all the time so they started handing it off to him.
Just call him a weapon.

People laugh at his height/weight, but forget how strong the guy is…he did 20 reps of 225lbs on the bench press at the combine, so he should be able to take some hits. The combo of McCluster & Charles out of the backfield & as the #3 & #4 receivers, along with Bowe & Chambers on the outside is going to create some serious matchup problems for opposing defenses…assuming Cassel can get these folks the ball.
I was as surprised as anyone that KC didn’t take a NT or early LB in the draft, but the additions of Berry at SS & Arenas as a nickel corner (along with Flowers & Carr) should make this team pretty difficult to pass against. The run D is the obvious concern, but with two top 5 picks on the DL coming into their 2nd & 3rd seasons, there should be improvement here as well.

Maybe you ought to try watching college football. They have it on TV you know, usually on Saturdays. Dexter McCluster played more WR than RB in his career at Ole Miss, and only focused more on the running game when he was a senior.
It’s funny seeing comments from people who obviously don’t know anything about a player except what they’ve read in pre-draft blogs.

But then again, the Broncos did take a Fullback at #25 that they will try to convert to QB.

What are you talking about? They spent their #5 pick on a game-changing safety and 4 out of 7 picks on defense. That doesn’t sound like they are focused on offense. Don’t tell me – it’s because they didn’t draft a NT or ILB. Well, sometimes the guy they want is gone before they can pick them and you don’t force a pick for need – especially when you have many needs. Plus we picked up Shaun Smith at NT in FA. Then again you could have just not been paying attention at all.

McCluster is a Darren Sproles type, except better. This guy will add a new dimension to the Chiefs in many facets of their game.
I don’t think the Chiefs can rely too much on McCluster as a receiver. He’s just too small. But he can be a role player. I remember the Chiefs trying to convert Dante Hall into a slot receiver, and they almost got him killed.
McCluster will be one of those players that the Chiefs can use as a return guy, wildcat guy, a guy they use in multiple back sets to keep defenses on their heels, occasional slot receiver, et al. He’s the type of guy that forces opposing defensive coordinators to adjust their plans around him, which is why KC drafted him.

This actually makes a lot more sense to me. I scratched my head when KC made this pick because McCluster is the same type of back as Charles. They kept describing him as a “change of pace back,” with a propensity for big plays, seemingly ignoring that this is why Charles is a dangerous back. If they wanted a true RB to act as a long term Jones-like backup they would have waited on someone else. Good luck to Dexter on the transitoin!

You do realize that they drafted 5 defensive players and only two offensive ones right? They will be tons better this year.
