Merriman trade talks scuttled by contract issues

S. Merriman.jpgThe Shawne Merriman rumors that surfaced over draft weekend were at least partially true.

The Chargers linebacker was available, and Kevin Acee the San Diego Union Tribune confirms there were trade talks over all three days of the draft regarding Merriman.

In the end, the necessity of reaching a long-term deal with Merriman “complicated and ultimately thwarted possible trades,” according to Acee.

The rumors reached Merriman through the mouth of Chris Berman.

Boomer did report that I was on the move I checked
well I think I’m already moving pretty good thanks lol
,” Merriman wrote on Twitter.

It looks safe to say now Merriman won’t be moving out of San Diego this year.

This guy is one felony arrest from moving on……
Without the ‘roids he’s been average at best. An average LB with a history of trouble + a huge contract = No Trades.

Why would anyone sign a long term contract with a guy whose tendons are all eaten away by steroid and HGH abuse?
Guarentee you this guy tears a bicep in the next two seasons.

Since the Chargers have one of the worst OL, they could let Merryman back on ‘roids and play him on the line.

Wait. If there were talks about trading him on all three days, that would include day 3. If you were willing to take a day 3 pick for him, why wouldn’t you take a package involving future picks?
    I certainly would rather take a 2011 2nd round pick than a 2010 4th round pick for a player, wouldn’t you?

Shawne Merriman is learning what Eric Gagne learned: steroid testing can be hazardous to your career.

He wants a contract based on 05-07 and teams want to pay him based on 09.

Is it me or is the last time we saw Merriman actually on the move when he was “on the juice”??

vegasdonkey, how do you figure the Chargers have a bad o-line?

“how do you figure the Chargers have a bad o-line?”
The worst rushing attack in the NFL might play a small part in that analysis.

Hey vegasjackass, the Bolts have one of the top pass protecting offensive lines in the NFL…the run blocking hasn’t been good, but we’ll see whether that was LT’s doing or not with Mathews now on board. Bottom line, your horsecrap team might be the worst in the West this year since the Raiders have decided to get rid of Jamarcus. Have fun with that Tebow pick.

He has been an absolute disaster since he was caught with roids
He isn’t half the player he used to be….very telling

Almost as much fun as getting humiliated at home in the first round of the playoffs huh?
Year after year the overrated Dolts always tank in the end…LOL!

    1. There are 32, not 31, teams in the NFL.
    2. Only 5 teams took less sacks.
    3. LT is done.
