Steelers undrafted free agents

Steelers second-round pick Jason Worilds will be familiar with at least one of his new teammates when he reports for work.

The team signed defensive end Cordarrow Thompson as an undrafted free agent, giving them two members of Virginia Tech’s defense. Thompson started all 13 games for the Hokies in 2009, finishing with 25 tackles and a half-sack.

The Steelers also signed a player from Connecticut. Defensive end Lindsey Witten join three offensive linemen — A.J. Trump of Miami, Dorian Brooks of James Madison and Ciron Black of LSU — and UTEP safety Damon Cromartie-Smith as the team’s undrafted signees.

    Didn’t they also try and sign Roman Polanski?

    How many Cromartie-(any name you choose) are we going to get in this league? I swear a new one comes out every year.

    Drafting all those OLBs when they have woodley and harrison, while leaving mt. cody on the board for the ravens… bad move.

    Don’t you ever again talk to me as though you are some man of conscience concerned about women and rape issues. This post says everything about who and what you are and that your only interest is getting in digs at a team you don’t like.
    And in that dark little space you call a soul, you know it … though you’d never be man enough to admit it.

    Hmmm. Something tells me that we may just see quite a few more Cromarties over the next 20 years. Meh, it’s probably a illegitimate bastard of a prediction on my part, though.

    Hmm….guys gets girl intoxicated to take advantage of her despite her objections.
    That’s not really that big of a stretch to compare the two.
    If anything, since Polanski probably really did only do it once, the comparison is unfair to HIM.

    Polanski didn’t employ a rape-victim selection committee (the bodyguards).
    On multiple occaisions…

  12. Deb says: Apr 25, 2010 6:55 PM

    @NFLMMAfan …
    Another well-informed “man” pipes in. Actually, Polanski did employ a rape-victim selection committee: the 14-year-old girl’s mother.
    On the other hand … there were no bodyguards in Nevada. And if you’d bothered to read the court filings in that case, you’d know that Ms. McNulty’s own text messages reveal that two days after the “rape” she was texting friends about looking forward to seeing Roethlisberger at an upcoming dinner. She was telling a “boyfriend,” she thought he looked like Ben and that if things didn’t work out with him, she’d go for Ben instead. That’s only one example of the evidence refuting her claim … which you’d know if you’d done any research.
    As for Georgia, the ONLY people who’ve given statements saying the bodyguards blocked the bathroom were two drunken sorority sisters. Multiple other witnesses said they did not. If you’d bothered to listen to his entire 71-minute press conference, the DA said one of those two sorority sisters had been ejected from the VIP room by Roethlisberger and that the bodyguard was blocking the curtained entrance to the VIP room, not the way to the bathroom. Now it’s being reported that girl was ejected for jeering him about the Nevada rape accusation. This was BEFORE Ms. “Down to F–k” skipped off with him to the bathroom and before those same two sorority sisters–according to multiple statements dragged her to the cops and before she told both the cops and the hospital personnel that she had not been raped and before the rape kit turned up negative.
    By the way, the club owner told the DA he showed those two girls a way to bypass the bodyguard to go back and check on their friend, but they chose not to go.
    As a REAL rape survivor, I have a problem with women who use rape accusations as a way to get money out of men or as a way to get even with them. And people who joke about the abuse of a 14-year-old–and a case they clearly know nothing about–to take digs at a football player whose team they don’t like are no better.

    Yes. I make fun of pieces of shit. I regularly made fun of the Bengals too when they were the ones employing the highest concentration of douchebags in the NFL. Am I jealous of them too?
    And yes, the girl in the Polanski case WAS 14. The m.o. was pretty much the same, and I’m sure, given to his own devices, Ben would sooner or later face charges from someone under the age of 18 as well. After all, he already established he has no issue with CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELIQUENCY OF A MINOR.

    In fact, when you say “Don’t you ever again talk to me as though you are some man of conscience concerned about women and rape issues” you sound even more like a lunatic because I have never once attempted to engage you in any conversation before. In fact, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen ANYONE try. You just come in claiming to be the authority on the subject because your assault was “real”.

    That’s right- Roethlisberger is a sexual predator criminal mastermind, with hired goons to drug and kidnap unsuspecting victims to slake his unholy lust.
    Do you seriously believe that? If so, then why? The conclusion can’t come from any reading of the documents or the actual account, so where are you coming up with it?

    @TFBuckFutter …
    Nice try, darlin’ but I’m not playing to the crowd. I’m just talking to you. You’ve addressed posts to me on multiple threads trying to play the intellectual with concerns about women–thus the “female misogynist” bit. The intellectual part falls flat, though, when you go out in left field with things like that line about Roethlisberger contributing to the delinquency of a minor. There is a difference between being an underage drinker and being under the age of consent. I know women who are married with children at 20. I’m sure you do, too.
    I’m not claiming to be an authority on anything. As with anyone else, my experiences inform my opinions. And I’ve been doing a bit of self-therapy. I didn’t speak of what happened to me for years–even when other women shared their stories with me. Even in therapy I couldn’t use the word. So repeating it here has helped minimize its power. But for me this has much less to do with my rape history than my passion about justice issues. Someone posted sarcastically that I must have “Constitution” tatooed on my backside. No … but she may be closer to figuring me out than you are. Ben may be the biggest jackass in the world and the last person on earth I should be defending. But this trial by media is wrong. It’s morally and ethically wrong.
    You say you’ve called out the Bengals for their “douchebags.” Well, I nearly lost a friend over Richard Jewell. And my own mother thought I was nuts defending John and Patsy Ramsey. I happened to be right both times, but it wouldn’t have mattered. We have due process for a reason. It’s one of the things that separates our nation from less enlightened systems. This is mob justice and it’s appalling because the public doesn’t have all the pieces. I shouldn’t keep calling her Ms. DTF because I suspect she’s a victim of some pretty vicious “friends.” That part is anger that comes out of my own history. But believe it or not, the rest is sincere crusading.

    That’s terrific. And if their husbands supply them with booze, they are contributing to the deliquency of a minor. It’s in the Liquor Control Act. http://transportation.unm.edu/pubs/Under21-11×8.pdf

    No, they’re not. People 18 and older are adults, not minors. Adults aged 18-20 are underaged drinkers, but they’re adult underaged drinkers, not “minors.”
    Besides, your insinuation had more to do than just drinking age and you know it. You can’t contribute to the delinquency of a minor when the supposed “minor” is an adult.

    And as for my childhood….2 married parents (still married to this day) and no trauma, so….I’m pretty sure I’d bore a therapist.
    Unlike you, who, for some reason, thinks their perspective on things is more significant than anyone else’s. All I do is crack wise….you seem to think you’re important.

    Again, nice try. You’ve been just as self-important and preachy as I’ve been, Mr. Pot. I probably popped out of the womb spouting some sort of passionate conviction on something. It may be insufferable, but at least it’s sincere. But you’ve spent weeks indulging pretentious grandstanding about devaluing women, shouting rants about voiding contracts when people are too drunk to consent, and sarcastically insisting YOU know more about rape than someone who’s been there. And since you can’t claim to be coming from a place of genuine conviction, now you’re just going to claim you were only cracking wise.
    Uh-huh. Coward.

    As usual profootballtalk does a bang-up job of getting the story wrong. In the initial post of Steelers’ free agent signings running back Andre Dixon of UConn was listed as one of the signees. Not true. Also no mention that his name was deleted from this story.
    In addition, only four of the guys listed are actual Steelers’ signees. Three other players (not listed here) were also signed by the club. For the real list check out: http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/steelers/s_678215.html
