Ex-NFL quarterback Mike Tomczak arrested in domestic dispute

Former NFL quarterback Mike Tomczak was arrested today and charged with two counts of simple assault, police told WPXI in Pittsburgh.

The station quotes Bell Acres, Pennsylvania, Police Chief Brian Brown saying, “Mike lunged at his wife, grabbed her and stepped on her foot.”

Tomczak was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

Tomczak played for the Bears from 1985 to 1990, for the Browns in 1991, for the Packers in 1992 and for the Steelers from 1993 to 1999.

Lunged at her, grabbed her, and then……… stepped on her foot????
    Should’ve pinched her.

  2. tacious says: Apr 26, 2010 5:45 PM

I’m not a proponent of any form of domestic violence… but stepping on her foot? That’s a bit ridiculous… there has to be more to this than that!?

  3. Stoogie says: Apr 26, 2010 5:45 PM

Hasn’t been a very good few days for obscure ex-QB’s. First Pastorini, now Tomczak. Who’s next? Randy Wright? Mark Malone? Richard Todd?

  4. dabarber says: Apr 26, 2010 5:46 PM

Wow, he’s lucky he is still not with the Steelers or they would have threatned to trade him and spanked his bottom!

Does anybody know where I can find a Tomczak jersey? Not because I condone his actions, but moreso because I think he is the most garbage QB to ever start in an AFC Championship game.
    Sweet haircut, Florio.

That’s it, Tomczak. You are no longer my 7th favorite all-time Steeler qb. You’re still way ahead of Ben and Bradshaw, but you’ve now fallen below Bubby Brister. Kordell and Kruczek have left you in their dust.
Don’t step on the woman’s toes!

  20. medic406 says: Apr 26, 2010 6:05 PM

Like another Steeler QB, this too was consensual. A consensual ass-kicking is ok if it is between two adults and they both……………………….. If I were a woman who lived in Terry Bradshaw’s neighborhood I would be very afraid right now.

“Mike lunged at his wife, grabbed her and stepped on her foot.”
    ==========================================
Hmmm, I’m think he was just about to hit her, caught himself, and stepped on her foot.
So then, I’m thinking the assault comes from stepping on her foot, because “lunging at her” and “grabbing her” aren’t assault.
    Right?

honestly, how many times do husband/wife have an argument and someone grabs someone?
now to cross the line is to slap, poke, throw etc…. but honestly – I stepped on her foot officer….
did he step on it and then smash his foot into it in an attempt to break bones?

Those guys are the worst. Those violent Brownbearsteelerpackers. I cannot believe that Browns, Bears and Packers fans would come to his defense. They must be ashamed of him representing their cities.
Go ahead and miss the sarcasm, too. Why the hell not?

It’s a sad commentary on Dan Hampton and all Chicago sports fans how quickly they turned on Jim McMahon. Super Bowl Champion quarterback, albeit a bit injury-proned, benched in favor of Ditka’s new boy, Mike Tomczak. For those of you who don’t know who Mike Tomczak is, well, he’s nobody.
    And then there was Flutie…

  69. Slow Joe says: Apr 26, 2010 8:35 PM

Tomczak must be paying the piper for his incredible fortune in the NFL. He was by far the least talented QB to have a 15 year career in the NFL. I still marvel that he pulled it off.
