Our favorite Twitter trash talk of the weekend

One cool aspect of Twitter is that fans get to see the players are often just fans.

We noticed a lot of NFL players excited about the draft, and discussing whether their teams made the right picks or not.

Our favorite moment of the weekend came in the form of some trash talking though.

Bills cornerback Drayton Florence asked his followers what undrafted players have the best shot at making the Buffalo roster.

Jaguars wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker’s answer: “Whoeva u guard in practice!”

The two players were once teammates, and Sims-Walker made it clear he was just messing around.  Then again, Florence was a huge free agent bust in Jacksonville, cut after one unproductive season there.  There’s probably some truth to Sims-Walker’s words.

Sims-Walker is becoming a fan favorite in Jacksonville.
Once a week, he invites all his twitter followers to a “Jag Night on Mike”. Sometimes he takes his fans to the movies, bowling, etc… Actually the next one is tonight!
All MSW (that’s Mike Sims-Walker for the slow people) twitter followers are invited to Dave & Busters in Jacksonville to watch the Orlando Magic game and eat some food at 8pm!
From MSW’s twitter: “Jag nite at dave n busters in the show room tonite @8pm for the magic game, free food in drink! Everyone invited!” http://twitter.com/MIKESIMSWALKER

  11. SteelCurtnDee says: Apr 26, 2010 1:16 PM

    @gojev
pretty cool… but Chad Ochocinco’s been doin that stuff for a while here in Cincinnati.
I’m a Steelers fan but Chad gets a bad rep, but you don’t hear about that kind of stuff that he does here in Cincinnati.

  12. JerseyJints says: Apr 26, 2010 1:16 PM

How can you be a “huge” free agent bust? That sounds really stupid.

  13. QJ1984 says: Apr 26, 2010 1:20 PM

lol. I’d much rather see players use twitter like this rather than Darnell Dockett bitching about his teams plans and Santonio Holmes, looking for sexy ladies to do a video shoot or talking about waking and baking.

  14. MuskyHunter2542 says: Apr 26, 2010 1:21 PM

    Twitter is Ghay!!!

  15. ejtowne says: Apr 26, 2010 1:21 PM

Sims-walker is a DOUCHEBAG!!!! He should be glad that he doesnt play the Bills this year!!!! Might get his big blockhead knocked off!!!! Florence may have been a bust in jaguar land, but has been a solid player since joining Buffalo!!

  16. Duck Fallas says: Apr 26, 2010 1:23 PM

Free shit will make anyone a fan. Very cool (if not financially irresponsible) of MSW.

    lol nice.

  18. Dapollock says: Apr 26, 2010 1:35 PM

I heard the Pittsburgh QB likes to take people clamming. But just the ladies though. Whether they like it or not. And if their BF doesn’t pull a gun or somethin’

Sims-Walker is gonna be a beast this season.

    Nice one

    @JerseyJints?
    Huh?
When you sign a 6 year contract and get a $10 million dollar signing bonus…only to get released 12 months later. That is what you call a huge free agent bust.

jacksonville is running out of hyphens

  23. SpartaChris says: Apr 26, 2010 2:07 PM

Ochocinco has been doing that for a while now. Takes his followers out in almost every city he goes to. Personally, I think it’s great when players give back to the fans on such a personal level like that. It surprises me more players don’t do that.

  24. KM91 says: Apr 26, 2010 2:37 PM

ejtowne is just mad that Mike Sims-Walker caught the game-winning touchdown against the Bills last year.

  25. cadillacjosh says: Apr 26, 2010 3:12 PM

Favorite twitter burn should be a regular column.

  26. jj jones says: Apr 26, 2010 3:31 PM

Drayton Florence talks like Deion Sanders but plays like Deon Figures.
    Bust.

  27. dafish says: Apr 26, 2010 3:44 PM

    KM91,
My favorite memory of the Buffalo game was buying the club seat 2 rows behind the Bills bench for $25. And of course me trying to bribe Lindell with $3 to miss the field goal that he never got a chance to attempt.
That was one fun game that we almost blew. TO and that 90 yard TD catch, the O lineman for Buffalo snapping his leg, I could hear it and I was sitting on the Jags 25 and it happened around the Bills 30.

  28. nagurski_T_form says: Apr 26, 2010 3:51 PM

    This is funny stuff.
I like Florence, too…he covered well and played physical last year.
A career rebirth? I think so!

  29. Cake Or Death says: Apr 26, 2010 4:06 PM

D Flo only sucks because he isn’t allowed to headbutt five yards past the line of scrimmage.

  30. iamahospital says: Apr 26, 2010 4:59 PM

florence performed well last year with the bills. he was a pretty big part of the number 2 pass defense in the league.
sims-walker is a great receiver too, i’m sure they’re just playin around.

  31. JerseyJints says: Apr 26, 2010 6:02 PM

@ gojev, my bad i thought he was signed as a free agent out of college (a la snead, blount etc). in my haste i glazed over the name so didnt recognize referrence to someone who got PAID.

  32. KM91 says: Apr 26, 2010 7:41 PM

Dafish, I don’t think I want to relive watching Eric Wood break his leg.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3sxYA16Qfk
Ironically enough, the guy who fell on his leg was just cut today.

  33. dafish says: Apr 26, 2010 8:06 PM

Oh no not that intention at all. I was recalling what transpired, I hope Wood is good to go this year.

  34. JagMania65 says: Apr 26, 2010 8:27 PM

Florence talks like Deion Sanders, but plays like Col. Sanders!

  35. BillsFan20 says: Apr 29, 2010 6:55 PM

Sims-walker is a DOUCHEBAG!!!! He should be glad that he doesnt play the Bills this year!!!! Might get his big blockhead knocked off!!!! Florence may have been a bust in jaguar land, but has been a solid player since joining Buffalo!!

Please tell me your not a Bills fan. Because obviously your not because if you were you would know that we play Jacksonville at home on October 10th you idiot.
To all my fellow BillsBackers ejtowne is officially ejected on grounds of retardation.

  36. bills83 says: May 9, 2010 5:12 PM

Love Sims-Walker, Like Florence a lot, the bills pass d didnt miss a step when anyone was hurt, Mckelvin, Whitner, Scott etc. We have some depth at DB. I think its funny how Florence was taking peoples jobs from them in San Diego then goes to a horrid Jacksonville Secondary and gets called a bust? Florence was a former 2nd rounder out preforming 1st rounders like Jammer and Cromartie when he left in FA 2 yrs ago, it actually happens to a lot of defensive backs in the league. (nate Clements, Gary Baxter, Dangelo Hall) Some teams and Some CB’s just dont gel, Then theres guys like Florence Charles Woodson, D Hall, Fabian Washington, who change teams and look revived.
