Texans pick up Michael Gaines

The Texans have added three tight ends in the last three days.

They drafted Garrett Graham and Dorin Dickerson in the late rounds Saturday, and signed Michael Gaines on Monday, according to John Clayton of ESPN.

Gaines, who has played with four teams over the last four years, will be used mostly for blocking purposes.

Owen Daniels must really be in the shitter…..
Steve Slaton needs to get some competition too, he was useless last year, only reason i care is b/c i had him on my fantasy team.

Damn!!! Gaines is a big blocking tight end, but he also showed good hands in the few times the Browns passed the ball to him. I’m glad he caught on somewhere, but I wish the Browns would have re-signed him…

Dickerson will be playing WR according to the head coach.

Whew, I was afraid they wouldn’t address the TE position.

“Gaines, who has played with four teams over the last four years, will be used mostly for blocking purposes.” – That’s if he makes the roster. We’re or rather they’re creating a new set with all TEs. We have about 7 or 8 on the roster. Let’s see:
    Daniels
    Dreesen
    Casey
    Hill
    Graham
    Gaines
    Steve Maneri(UDFA signed)
Dorin Dickerson(drafted as TE though he is going to play WR)
7 of them. I’m sure that’s still not enough for them.

    @ben.there
HAHAHA thats hilarious! You can never have to many good T.E’s.. They can do everything on offense, block catch even play fullback.
Dickerson could be AJ number 2.. Wouldn’t mind having two of those on the field or maybe an AJ for the future. Good to see they’re trying to install a theme in Houston.

He dropped many passes with the Lions and often fumbled when he did catch it.

Good to see Garth Brooks’s alter ego still sticking in the league.
