Free-agent safety jeopardizes his freedom

ClintonHart.jpgVeteran safety Clinton Hart is available to be signed by any interested team.

And the list of interested teams likely has just been reduced.

Our friends at TMZ have passed along a link to the Marion County, Florida inmate database.  We entered Hart’s name, and there he was, projecting a Tom DeLay-style smile above the details regarding Hart’s arrest.

Hart apparently is being held without bond after being busted for domestic battery.

The 32-year-old defender spent 2009 with the Rams after six seasons in San Diego.  Hart entered the league in 2003 as a member of the Eagles.

He became a full-time starter for the Chargers three years ago, starting 30 regular-season games in 2007 and 2008 combined.

His next opportunity could come with the Mean Machine.

Wow, this is the first NFL player to be busted for hitting a family member. Certainly all NFL teams will avoid him for this arrest, not because he’s a mediocre journeyman player in his 30s.

Domestic battery? Sign him, Pittsbur……oh, wait….he’s not a pro-bowler, so he’d have to go…never mind.

The Steelers are set at safety. Quality (and one superstar) starters and adequate/solid depth.
