Kenny Britt admits he's out of shape

K. Britt.jpgThe Titans haven’t had a truly dominant No. 1 receiver since, well, they were the Oilers.

Anyone that watched Kenny Britt’s eye-opening rookie season knows that streak has potential to end.  Now he just has to show he wants it.

Britt admitted Thursday to the Tennessean that he’s not in the greatest shape right now.  Titans coach Jeff Fisher held him out of OTA work, hoping to avoid a hamstring pull.

Being out of shape in April isn’t a huge concern, but Fisher has sounded the alarm publicly on Britt’s commitment and offseason attendance a few times this Spring.  The second-year player was also in the news a few times in January.

We get the feeling the Titans know they have a good one, but worry about keeping him on the straight and narrow.

Yep, sounds like a typical No. 1 receiver.

  1. Maybe he needs to go on the Lendale White diet… except that only involves getting in shape in a contract year.

  2. Man, well oh well, it could be worse. They could have that “Diva” Crabtree. Look at all of the trouble he’s caused since signing. Wait, oh yeah…it’s hard to even find anything on Crabtree because he hasn’t been in any trouble either with the team or off the field. In fact he’s spent a lot of time at the facility with Alex Smith this off-season.
    But he’s a Diva….

  3. You know, just because there isn’t news today doesn’t mean you have to put crap like this on the site.

  4. Apparently Britt hired Doze Bryant’s buddy, David Wells, as his “lifestyle coach” during the off season.

  5. that’s funny Jerry rice a true #1 receiver, we never heard of him being out of shape and over weight. Dang lazy Diva’s

  6. Its Ok for him to be a little out of shape right now. Unlike us nerds, some guys need to get their minds off football. Fisher needs to trim his mustache, he must not be getting sufficient O2 to the brain.

  7. #1 Wideout by the numbers…

Couldn’t have set it better myself…

  9. So, Derrick Mason wasn’t a true #1 receiver?
    04: 96 reps, 1168 yards.
    03: 95 reps, 1303 yards.
    02: 79 reps, 1012 yards (in 14 games).
    01: 73 reps, 1123 yards (in 15 games).
    00: 63 reps, 895 yards (16 games, but only 10 starts).
If that’s not a #1 receiver, get me 3 #2 receivers for the Rams, asap.

  10. He said dominant, guys. Mason, as good as he is, has never been the kind of receiver to keep defensive coordinators up at night.

  11. potential #1 receiver not committing himself to the job, sounds like dwayne bowe ’09, better get in shape “naturally” kenny
