2-2 in playoff games, never progressing past the 2nd round. No one knew it at the time but the GB win was just the start of a string of disappointing, poor playoff performances by Farve.

OH yeah, a GREAT QB. If he was as good behind center as he is at serial torture & murder of sick animals, he’d be the best of all time. As a human being, he is a defective, soulless POS. On the field he’s another failed project @ QB, a carnival act, a gimmick at best.

IDK if you really follow football, but your rookie contract is tiered upon where you are drafted and teams sign you to X amount of years so they can squat on your cheap managable contract. Until you out perform it, then they squat on it some more. So you want to tell me that its CJ’s fault he was over looked coming outta HS and had to go to East Carolina and put up great numbers there but wasn’t drafted in the same slot as say a Ricky Williams/Cedric Benson and therefore didn’t sign a behemoth contract. These guys should be paid and assessed on a season to season basis just like everyone else is that works, except school teachers but thats an whole other can of worms.

Being a risk-averse QB that holds the ball too long doesn’t get you into the HOF. Ask Neil O’Donnell.
McNabb’s numbers are not even close to HOF level. He has to get a ring.
Look at Boomer Esiason’s career stats. Then look at McNabb and add 2 years at last year’s level of production. At 13 years they are almost identical.

Florio, terrible. Who do you know in their professional life that isn’t “quietly clamoring for a raise”? I bet your broke-a*s is quietly clamoring for a raise, too.
What would have been an appropriate assumption to make is the fact that Kolb was in the last year of his contract. Let’s say the Eagles don’t extend his contract and he has a breakout year. Now Kolb can test the market.
When your back-up is making $5.5mm, paying your starter $6mm/year makes sense. Get some common sense and keep quietly clamoring for that raise.

For everyone saying the Eagles gave Kolb too much for being an unproven starter – what’s Bradford’s contract going to look like? What about Tebow – QB’s drafted in the first round – in fact every player drafted in the first round makes way more than they are worth….
Eagles did this deal the right way. First, because Vick is scheduled to make $6M as his back-up – now there is the mistake the Eagles made. Second, it’s only a 2 year deal to let them see what they have in Kolb as a starter for the next 18-20 months. If he turns out to be the player they think he is, they give him a long term deal next year or mid way through the 2012 season. If he’s not, then cut him loose or trade him and look to draft another QB in 2011/2012 – especially if Kafka doesn’t look like he can be the starter.

Kevin Kolb is Unproven so far. But I am not ready to bury him or annoint him just yet, but
I am willing to give him time to prove himself to the team and Fanbase. From what Iv’e seen of this Kid is that he is sharp, a good arm , has a Great attitude, and is a class act. Good Luck this Season , Growing Pains are tough.

Yeah, only 1st rounders like Tim Couch, Cade McNown, Akili Smith, and Alex Smith make it in the NFL. It’s a proven fact.
I mean, no 6th rounder could ever win the Super Bowl or throw 50+ TD’s! A guy like that would get killed in a market like Boston!
Or worse yet, you pull some washed up Navy vet in round 10 to be the QB for a legacy franchise like Dallas! That would be a total failure!
Lemme guess, a Redskins fan? Redskin fans are like LA fans, they have zero knowledge of the game, don’t buy tickets, and can’t be bothered to pay attention past Halloween.

That is quite possibly the dumbest idea I have ever had the misfortune to read. If you sign a contract to make a certain amount for X years, you’re bound to that contract. End of story. Chris Johnson should be pissed he didn’t sign a shorter contract. Obviously at the time he thought he was getting a good deal. Hindsight is a bitch, but now those players have to live with what they’ve signed.

Can someone please explain this comment to me? If he hasn’t proven anything yet, then you can’t say anything definitive about how the Eagles will do. In other words, if he hasn’t proven anything yet, how can you state so clearly that the Eagles are going to lose because of him? Why is the assumption Kolb was unhappy with his contract? What remotely even hints at that? Is it possible the Eagles, knowing Kolb was the new starter, wanted to ensure he got paid starter money? As any team would? Could they have approached him and said, we’re going to do a new deal? Heck, could Kolb’s agent have made the suggestion that since Kolb was now the starter and not some mid-round draft pick warming the pine that it was time to approach the Eagles for starter money and Kolb said “sure, why not, that makes sense”? And all of that is what Kolb is happy to put behind him, which is a common sense thing to say to a routine transaction that happens hundreds of times in the offseason?
Talk about reaching for a story.

Im an Eagles fan and I actually agree with you. Mcnabb is the greatest of all time in NFL history at passes to interceptions ratio. So saying because Mcnabb threw 22 tds and 10 interceptions last year so Kolb will throw 25 tds and 5 interceptions next year is asinine.
No way the Eagles go from having the best in history to the very next guy topping him.
I think Kolb will end up being a top 10 qb by years end. But he will throw ints. He has already shown he has a propensity for it. I think that has alot to do with having limit playing time and will get better at it once he gets a chance to get use to game speed on a consistent bases. But still there will be a learning curve and Kolb will throw picks.
IMO it will be more like 26tds 16ints in year 1. Who knows he might throw less. He might be 1 of the best at not throwing picks but you cant come out the box after all the picks he has already thrown and say things like he will throw 5 ints because you make us sound stupid.
I mean come on along with the back to back 300 yard games and all the tds he also threw 5 ints.

May putting this all behind us means people like you.
All we have heard over the past few monthes is all the Eagles qbs being in there last year. We have also heard talk through the media if Kolb would be the starter or will it be Vick. Or if Kolb doesnt preform will they bench him from Vick. Also some websites have been wrong stories about Kolb hating Eagles fans and wanting out. Maybe he was talking about that. Signing a contract extension certainly puts that behind him. Also he could just be talking about getting a deal done. Its nice to know for sure you will be somewhere for atleast another year. Maybe hes happy to get that behind him.
Either way who cares. Theres nothing wrong with wanting a new contract especially when your in your last year of your orginal. Thats when players are suppose to be thinking about these things. As long as you handle it like Kolb did its fine. Thats all that matters.
Now I dont think thats what he meant. I think your just trying to make something out nothing but even if it is its fine by me. It would probably even make me happier if it was true because it would let me know he would handle himself like a professional in the future if something like contract problems ever comes up.
