If it[ankle] has been bothering him for so long why didn’t he have this surgery done three or four months ago?
One the other hand:
Only in America do we build up our heros just to tear them down, and tear them down as hard as we can. Whatever the beef is some of you have with Favre I don’t get it. Some tear into Favre worst than Big Ben or PacMan or Vick. He’s never done anything bad or has he been arrested for anything that I am aware of since coming into the League. Loves his wife and kids(Hear that one, Tiki?) Complain all you want to, but this guy is going down as one of the best qb’s ever to stand behind a center. He’ll go into the Hall of Fame on a rocket sled when he finally becomes eligible. I’m not even a Packer or Viking fan, either.

Being a Vikings fan I used to despise Favre. There are still some things about his past that being a Viking doesn’t erase (Strahan). It thrills me to no end how it eats at Packer fans every time his name mentioned. It confuses them like a little girl who sees her daddy kissing her worst enemy’s mommy. For this I like him more with each day that passes.
FYI- whether it turns out to be the right call or not they wouldn’t have taken Clausen.
Teams don’t cheap shot other teams QB’s because it turns into throwing at batters heads in baseball. Do you really think this will be a game plan? Idiots

I have no idea what Favre is going to do and he has earned the right to make up his own mind. He does not need an excuse to miss training camp since the Vikes were not going to make him go. While I am sad about his comment about the Packers, it just shows how estranged he still is from Ted Thompson. For all of the bloggers who did not follow him at GB, Favre was treated like dirt from the moment TT drafted Rodgers. TT had every right to move on, but he could not have kicked Favre out of town in a more ungracious manner. The answer is no. Longwell would have blown it, Peterson would have fumbled, something would have happened and no matter what, it wouldn’t be Favre’s fault. In the world of the Favre-worshipper, his game-ending Int’s are the correct play at the time and are someone else’s fault. Just ask Fan of Football, he blamed Brett’s 6 int playoff game against St. Louis on Sherman and the receivers.

Werder and MDS here should have done some homework, this surgery isnt major. It is to fix an existing surgery from years ago.
The same thing happened last year, when he had work done on the shoulder before coming back.

You all are making way too big of a deal out of this:

Sure — certain exercises cause some ankle pain, but it’s nothing that I haven’t experienced [or played with] before. In fact, many people don’t realize that I injured my ankle before the NFC Championship game. I’ve had surgery on this ankle twice before, and I’ve played with the pain before. The hits I took throughout the 2009 season, including the Saints game, just added to the ankle pain and likely caused some bone spurs.”
We all know those Saints hits were dirty, and Favre is trying to ram that point home with the NFL. Either way, this isn’t a huge deal and Favre’s chances of being back or not at this point haven’t changed drastically in either direction.

The Sun rising tomorrow isn’t as sure a thing as Brett Favre and the Vikings winning the Super Bowl next Year!!!!!!! Favre is the Best. Vikings are the best franchise in pro sports. Childress is the best professional coach in any sport in the world.
Favre coming back is a guarantee that 2011 Sup Bowl Champs reside in MIN, all 31 other teams should just skip this year. Favre is the best.
