The crowded Dallas receiver group has Patrick Crayton wanting to leave.
Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com reports that Crayton has stopped working out with the Cowboys in hopes of getting dealt. The moment Dez Bryant was drafted, speculation started regarding whether Roy Williams or Crayton would be moving on.
Owner Jerry Jones has said Williams isn’t going anywhere, but that doesn’t mean Crayton will realize his wish to leave. Jean-Jacques Taylor of the Dallas Morning News doesn’t believe the Cowboys will trade or cut Crayton.
We don’t think they should.
Bryant was essentially drafted to replace Williams. He’s an outside receiver. Crayton is easily the most reliable slot receiver on the team, and getting rid of him would hurt the offense.
We suspect Bryant will cut into Williams’ snaps. Crayton should still have a significant role.
