this is kinda funny and really aggrivates me. this guys is still playing and hasn’t had any punishment what so ever because he is a star. Odell Thurman of the Bengals got 2 dui’s and rite after his 2nd dui convicition the NFL gave him a lifetime ban, which was a little extreme and here vincent has had 2 dui’s a driving under suspension and other charges and still is aloud to play. guys such as Stallworth get drunk and then kill someone and he gets a lifetime ban, which was rediculous. Not to mention players getting caught with drugs over and over and they get 2nd chances. What a joke its time the NFL and Roger Goodell start being consistent and stop showing favoritism to certain teams and players.

You’re right about Ben’s conduct, and a harsh intervention was needed. Maybe it will prompt him to change directions. Would have preferred it to come from the Steelers because there would have been no charges of unequal justice or calls for matching league suspensions as there are now. As for the rape issue, after reviewing everything carefully, I’m confident no rapes occurred or I wouldn’t have posted with such vehemence. But after all the incendiary things that have been published, I can understand why others would have doubts. My certainty doesn’t have anything to do with Ben personally–he seems to be a dog–or with the Steelers. It’s just the only conclusion based on the evidence. I don’t expect anything honorable from McNulty, but someday Georgia may come clean. Her “friends” dragged her into this sordid mess, and I feel sorry for her.

I’ve met VJ before in a social setting and the guy was down to earth and gracious. Unlike some of the other trash that play(ed) for the Chargers that think their shit don’t stink. Shaun Phillips, Antonio Cromartie and Tim Dobbins to name a few. It’s no surprise Cromartie is gone and Dobbins was thrown into that draft day trade, while VJ is still here.

Honestly I am a die hard Chargers fan. It disappoints me when I see stuff like Jackson getting a DUI. I was the happiest to see Cro go and am looking forward to Merriman going too. I will say this in regards to Jackson, the reason his license was suspended was BECAUSE they wouldn’t renew it because at the time he still had the on going DUI case going on. Doesn’t make it ok that he was driving but the 2 went hand in hand. What disappoints me the most is the fact that Chargers actually have a designated driver program for these players and it doesn’t seem to be getting used.

Deb: I wasn’t talking about you. I know your position on Ben though, I’ve read most of the comments and I’ll say this….
We will probably never know if Ben actually raped a woman or not, BUT we do know that his behavior and his inability to keep himself out of trouble is a major concern for the Steelers and more importantly, the NFL.
Ben’s 4 game suspension is based on the above, if he was convicted of rape, he might be kicked out of the league permanently, and rightly so, in my opinion.

Why is the national media not all over this story?
Vincent Jackson is a menace to life and limb of every fan on the road. What if he had rear ended a 20 year old college nameless girl on her way to having drunk sex in the bathroom of a local bar?
Surely that is a huge black eye for the NFL and its standards of conduct.
If Vincent Jackson was white, he’d get a year of suspension for besmirching the reputation of the league and putting the fans at risk.

Let’s be clear. I’m not apologizing for criminal behavior. I’ve reviewed all the documentation in Nevada and Georgia and I’m saying straight out that no one was raped. If the Nevada woman’s text messages say she wants to see him again, she wasn’t raped. If the Georgia medical exam says there was no intercourse, she wasn’t raped. It’s real simple for mature grownups who can read.

Jackson was apprehended while driving to the Chargers’ playoff loss to the Jets. (He caught seven passes for 111 yards during his visit to Revis Island; maybe getting handcuffed should be added to Jackson’s pregame ritual.)
