Panthers minicamp one-liners

Said coach John Fox of the first minicamp, “All in all, I thought it was a pretty good outing.”

The Panthers had 84 players on site, and CB Richard Marshall, unhappy about his restricted-free-agent tender, was the only no-show.

Said WR Steve Smith of his new rookie teammates, “We’ve got some guys with pretty good speed. So as far as receivers as a whole, all the new guys, they’re pretty quick. As a whole, these new guys coming in here can burn a little bit.”

LB Thomas Davis was on the practice field five months after surgery to repair a torn ACL.

The Panthers have signed undrafted WR Trent Guy.

Said QB Jimmy Clausen of making the transition to the NFL, “It’s a little faster and the guys are a little bigger. But at the end of the day it’s just football and you go out and there and have a good time and execute the plays.”

Clausen says his goal is to be the Week One starter.
