Mike Zimmer: "I'll be on Pacman at all times"

A day after PFT reported that Pacman Jones will be signing with the Bengals, Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Bengals are hammering out the final details on Pacman’s contract. And one Bengals coach is already vowing to keep a close eye on Pacman.

“If we sign him,” Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer told Bengals.com, “I’ll be on him at all times.”

Zimmer said he told Jones that he would need to be disciplined, that he isn’t likely to be a starter in Cincinnati, and that he’ll be expected to improve team chemistry, not hurt it. After all that, Zimmer says, “He looked me in the eye and shook my hand.”

So the Bengals are getting ready to add Jones, with a strict warning that he’ll be sent packing at the first sign of trouble.

We’ve got a bunch of strong character guys on defense,” Zimmer said. “I’m not going to let this kid screw up our chemistry.”

Sounds like Pacman and the Bungles are off to a good start. I’m sure that’s exactly what Pacman wants to hear said in the media about him from the DC..good luck with that.

Make all of the Bengals/Stripes/convicts jokes you like. I don’t trust or like Pacman either. That said, Zimmer is rock solid in my book. If he says he’s got this one, I’ll trust him.

  12. nfcbeast says: May 5, 2010 4:42 PM

HAHAHAHA- yeah a give him a good talkin to and he’ll be an angel.
PamMan will be suspended or cut by week 8

You gotta love Mike Zimmer! The more I hear from the guy, the more and more thankful I am that Cincy has him on staff. He’s a no-nonsense kind of guy, takes no s*** from anyone. Good luck keeping Pacman in check, coach Zim, if anyone can do it you can.
I don’t care how well this season goes, at the end I really hope Marvin walks or takes a paycut to become the DC, and Zimmer takes over as head coach of the Bengals (Hey… Let a man dream…).

“We’ve got a bunch of strong character guys on defense,” Zimmer said. “But the offense? F*ck ‘em, nothing but a bunch of thugs and criminals.”
He then proceeded to pull out a wad of singles and “make it rain” over Pacman’s bowed head.

the more cowboys the better maybey cincy should move to dallas since we have almost all of cowboys players. Now all we need is T.O to complete our superbowl team.

  19. virtueandvice says: May 5, 2010 4:48 PM

So what is Zimmer gonna do? Pay out of his own pocket to hire a full time bodyguard like Double J did? Jesus, some organizations NEVER learn. The Bungles are one T.O. signing away from 4-12 this year.

  22. kazkal says: May 5, 2010 4:53 PM

To any haters keep Hating…Zimmer is the man and one of the best D.Coordinators in the NFL…LOOK at what he did in cinci after a streak of horrible defenses and that was with players like Dhani,Crocker & Roy who were Castoff vets.

PacMan cleaned up his act years ago. Now people trying to provoke pacman to do wrong and write cheeat about him on their silly blogs. Whats he suppose to do. He’s only human.
Leave pacman alone, and he leave you alone!

  26. Rasta says: May 5, 2010 5:11 PM

What none of you know; Tim Tebow meet with de Pacman and cast out all of those demons that dwell within his soul. Tebow also tried to circumcise him but Pac was to fast on his feet.

  27. Cincinnasty says: May 5, 2010 5:11 PM

Cincinnati takes troubled young men and turns them in to respectable individuals you have to respect that..

  28. BlitzDorsey says: May 5, 2010 5:19 PM

How fuggin unbelivable. Man it’s rough being a Bengal fan.
It’s not just that Pacman is a punk. He’s a bad football player. I know there is no risk and they can just cut his arse (and won’t give him much of a signing bonus) but why even mess with this clown? He’s not a good corner. Couldn’t cover anyone his last year in the league in ’08 with the Cowboys.

  29. Cincinnasty says: May 5, 2010 5:24 PM

Football is a mean game and takes mean guys to play it.. I’d say we are the meanest team in the league… Character questions on the field don’t matter..

Great, now Pacman will end up cooking meth in an RV. Fantastic.

  31. BonnieD says: May 5, 2010 5:30 PM

Zimmer is awesome. If he thinks he can make a productive player out of Pacman, then he will.
The stupid jokes are getting old, especially the one about Tank, who had a great year, did not get in any trouble, and signed a new contract with the Bengals.
Please DO SOME RESEARCH before you post about things of which you obviously have no knowledge.
There were a lot of people saying Roy Williams can’t cover, but he can in Zimmer’s system. They said Tank was a bad player, but not in Zimmer’s system. Same will be true for Pacman.
Cincinnati takes players and uses them correctly on defense. Dallas can’t develop anybody.

Oh the jealousy of The Bengals(never heard of the bungles)except you bungholes who are fans of teams like the raiders, jaguars, bears, steelers….
I could go on all day, these teams and others have had more felons than The Bengals by far.
Learn what you are spewing from your pie holes instead of climbing on a four year old bandwagon of lame ass reporters who know less than you !

  38. theembalmed says: May 5, 2010 6:11 PM

A few years ago, a personnal conduct policy was enacted in the NFL. It was started because of the behavior of a few tarnishing the many.
Who were the “2 FACES” of this policy when it was introduced? Chris Henry a bengal and Adam Jones who is now a bengal. The third person to feel Goodell’s wrath was…Tank Johnson who became a bengal last year.
The bengals will have one helluva offense in 2013 with Vick backing up Rothlesburger and santonio holmes and plaxico on the outside. Now if Goodell would suspend some pass rushers then the bengals would be golden.

  39. Cincinnasty says: May 5, 2010 6:17 PM

Please my fellow Cincy fans.. Don’t pay attention to the “thug” jokes.. We could have a 53 man roster of choir boy’s and this image wouldn’t go away.. The truth is we bring in troubled guys and give them an opportunity to become respectable men… Let the hater’s hate.. Hiii Haters :P

  43. sturmunddrang47 says: May 5, 2010 7:35 PM

I don’t see pacman making the opening day roster, unless someone gets injured. He’ll be nothing more than training camp fodder to get them through the wr competition. Right now they have almost twice as many wide receivers as corners.

  44. tombrookshire says: May 5, 2010 7:46 PM

I’d pay him $100 a game and a three day old pizza, payable based on a good behavior clause in his contract. Makin’ it rain.

Winning championships is still the goal, right?

That’s nice. Unfortunately the purpose of playing is to win Lombardi trophies, not rehab complete wastes of talent who have no idea how good they have it.

“We’ve got a bunch of strong character guys on defense,” Zimmer said. “I’m not going to let this kid screw up our chemistry.”
We NEED more coaches like this man in the NFL.
