SI story on Roethlisberger features several new details

We pointed out before calling it a night that the new Sports Illustrated contains a feature regarding Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Though the magazine is not yet on newsstands, the article by Jack McCallum has been posted on the SI.com web site.

Here are some highlights (or, as the case may be, lowlights):

1.  Agent Ryan Tollner claims that Roethlisbeger has gotten the message.  “[H]e’s a good person who doesn’t want to be remembered as the kind of guy
who’s being presented to the public right now,” Tollner said.

2.  In 2006, several months after Roethlisberger had suffered serious injuries due to riding a motorcycle without a helmet and then vowed to always wear a helmet in the future, KDKA-TV captured images of him riding a motorcycle without a helmet.  He shot a middle finger to the camera as he drove away.  The story never aired, possibly due to concerns that it would have disrupted the station’s relationship with the Steelers.  (KDKA broadcasts the team’s preseason games, and also is the local CBS affiliate.)

3. Accounts of Roethlisberger’s “Do you know who I am?” attitude arose repeatedly during the visit by Sports Illustrated writers to Pittsburgh.

4.  A source close to Roethlisberger said that his goal with the alleged victim in Milledgeville wasn’t intercourse but “Clinton sex.”  (Please, enjoy your breakfast.)

5.  The police officer who resigned in the wake of the Milledgeville incident, Jerry Blash, has a sign in his carport that reads “RESERVED PIMP PARKING.  HO’S IN BACK.”  (We’re far more offended by the fact that it’s not funny at all.)

6.  A person named “Craig” told SI that, a few weeks before the Milledgeville incident, he overheard Roethlisberger making lewd comments to a pregnant waitress at a T.G.I.Friday’s restaurant.  “Did your boyfriend forget to pull out?” were among the things Roethlisberger allegedly said.

7.  Roethlisberger held a party on the one-year anniversary of his motorcycle accident, and his behavior resulted in Roethlisberger being required in the future to pay the $5 cover charge at the bar, which thereafter prompted a call from a Steelers security official asking why Ben had been banned.  The owner of the bar said that Roethlisberger hasn’t been banned but also said, “Tell him he’s an arrogant asshole, and every Steeler can get in without a cover except him.”

8.   An unnamed friend of Roethlisberger’s said that, when they are out together, the friend feels obligated to apologize to waiters and bartenders for Ben’s behavior.  The friend has never witnessed sexual impropriety, but he has seen Ben “disrespect” women.

9.  I’ve long believed that words and actions during playground basketball games are one of the biggest indicators of a guy’s true character.  So this observation from the unnamed friend struck a chord:  “He is embarrassed by Roethlisberger’s pettiness and immaturity during
pickup basketball games — he says Big Ben will whine about team selection,
talk mean-spirited trash and flex his biceps when he makes a good play.”

10.  Teammate Willie Colon, who was with Roethlisberger on the fateful night in Milledgeville, had this to say about the situation.  “The fans have a right to be upset,” he said.  “They buy tickets to
support us.  Remember that Ben is a human being, and human beings make
mistakes.  Hopefully he learns from his and moves on.”

We recommend reading the entire article, along with additional info from David Epstein, which eventually will be posted at SI.com.

Squeeler fans be proud of your pathetic QB and sorry excuse for a human being. Squeelers should have traded the scumbag when they had the chance. In the December Squeeler/Ravens game, Ravens fans in unison will chant “She said no”. LMFAO

  9. Insomniac says: May 5, 2010 8:52 AM

I’m surprised you haven’t commented in detail on the letter David Cornwell went to the Commissioner.
With excuses like his commitment to football prevented him from maturing in other aspects of his life (so we all initially start out as mean people with a sense on entitlement and only through maturation do we become courteous?).
“…Ben’s actions would have resulted in such vicious and false allegations. … Whether it is in the privacy of a hotel room or in the more risky environment of a semi-public restroom, a false allegation of rape simply is not within the zone of the foreseeable consequences of consensual sex.”
So Cornwell is declaring against Ben in Georgia are false (something he will not say himself).
It’s not Ben’s fault, wrong place at the wrong time.
“…encourage behavior that is more consistent with accepted principles and/or established procedures.”
It’s society’s fault that his behavior is abhorrent. His behavior is fine, but we need him to get him to act more like the rest of us.

  10. mmdd1111 says: May 5, 2010 8:54 AM

This arrogant POS should be booted to the curb. His sense of entitlement is probably why he sexually assualted those woman…he thinks he deserves whatever it is that he wants. Piece of garbage.

If any of you front running f**ks that claim to have stopped wearing your Ben jerseys wanna send me one, I’d appreciate it. This guy is now officially a god to me. I hope he continues to be a d**k but just stays the hell away from drunken party favors.

I think the pull out line was pretty funny.
Having said all that, it’s time Ben. Time to clean it up. Get some Hoe’s in your house if you want to pull this sh*t. Just sayin’

  15. TheRedBengal says: May 5, 2010 8:56 AM

Now it makes sense why the steelers have not made it a priority to seriously (a rookie center…really, that’s it? Are Starks, Colon, and Essex just ‘playin’ like they’re playing poorly?) upgrade their o-line: they want to have Ben’s head beat in by opposing defenses.

  16. lemmyk73 says: May 5, 2010 8:56 AM

So…… how many more “unnamed” sources and gossip/rumors are you going to continue to post Perez Florio?

  17. ambientnoise says: May 5, 2010 8:57 AM

tell us all about how you love your quarterback, pittsburgh “fans”!!
apologize for rape! defend the indefensible! and try to persuade yourself that you’re doing the right thing!
this simply proves what the rest of us have always known: the steelers are not – nor have they ever been – a “classy” organization.

  18. Fat_Old_Sun says: May 5, 2010 8:57 AM

Face of the Steelers franchise right there. Stand up and cheer everyone.

Hi my name is Ding. I just wanted the people at SI to know I saw Mike Florio following several fat people into the restroom and sniffing (aka snarfing) the toilet seats after they got up to leave. I also heard him grunting while he did it. Florio is obviously a perv. You can quote me on that.

Why do any of you morons think that Roethlisberger’s actions are any different than a number of pro players in every sport? We live in a pro-football, basketball and baseball city, there are a lot of arrogant assholes on those teams who act like this or even worse. I used to know a few of them in my younger days and played pickup ball and hung out at the bars with some very nice guys. The jerks make it awfully difficult for those players that aren’t like that, which is the vast majority.

He obviously has a low opinion of himself. He overcompensates for a lack of maturity and self confidence with boorish, sophomoric behavior. His social awkwardness, especially with women, suggests his undeveloped ability for intimacy. He has little self awareness and dissociates his behavior with consequences, exascerbated by his celebrity status as an NFL player. The fact that he surrounds himself with sycophants and enablers demonstrates that there is no one in his social circle acting as a “conscience.” It was telling that Steelers security intervened with a bar owner on BR’s behalf, rather than investigate the behavior that led to his exclusion. Are the Steelers less concerned that BR is single-handedly destroying their carefully crafted reputation than they are about winning? It is certainly the dark reward of a “winning is everything” mindset.

    d) Do you call a foul when your head squirell falls off?
    e) Are you the only one wearing “Chucks” on your playground?
    f) Do you play on a regulation hoop or “drop it down” so you can play like a big boy?
    g) “have you always thought about joining the priesthood?”

I can’t wait to see what GODell does with the Saints drug issues.

  59. Holeinone09 says: May 5, 2010 9:36 AM

Wow! Can you imagine that Ben gave the middle finger to somebody?!! I NEVER heard anybody do that! And WOW, he made a lewd comment about a pregnant woman? Anybody that reads PFT would NEVER see such lewd comments like that!
So the hatchet job continues. Ben will soon be linked to the recent bomb plot in Times Square as well somehow. LOL, hey people get over the fact that Ben is human and has an ego like most pro athletes. After what everyone on the planet has heard in the past months, is this even a story anymore at this point? Some of these points are so minor! Hey Mike, does the article say that at one point in his life, Ben stepped on an ant too?
Does anybody think that Ben was a polite choirboy? Hell no. All this is is a rehash while the flame of his Georgia story is still somewhat hot, EVEN THOUGH all actions that will be taken have now been put on the record, by the Georgia DA, NFL and Steelers.
This SI article is merely a blatant attempt to try to capitalize on what was a big story that is just ready to burn out. And this too will burn out.
And come 10/17/10, when Ben plays his first game this season and leads the Steelers to absolutely destroy the Browns (which he clearly will be out to do after all this has happened), it will be completely over with. And he will be cheered by most Steeler fans that day.
But most importantly, for Ben’s sake, hopefully he does become a better person off the field, since he is great on the field.
    GO STEELERS!

Every time I think this guy has hit rock bottom more embarrassing dirt comes out. I have to believe this guy really is a douche when his friends and team mates no longer have his back. I also think his image is beyond repair. Sure, he will be coached and told what to say and do some community P.R. that he really has no interest in, but it will likely be very short lived. He’s shown his true colors, so his agent and manager can put all the lipstick they want on him, he will always be a pig. Steelers go 8-8 this year, at best, and player disssention forces a trade in the next offseason.

Same reason Bengal fans have to take shit for signing people who have been in trouble in the past. Not to pick on you personally, because you do make a salient point, but some Steeler fans keep yelling “we got 6 rings” and then act indignant when someone bangs on their QB. Fans of other teams want retribution. I am guilty as well.
The funny thing is, no one on this message board has a single Super Bowl ring, and a majority of the players don’t give a shit about the fans. They appreciate that they pay the bills, but most of them do it for the money, not the fans. Press is good, but sincerity is lacking. I also have the feeling that Ben’s point of view and subsequent behavior may be more prevalent than most are willing to admit.

I hate all things Steelers, so obviously this has been an great off season for me.
But after reading this I can’t help but to think back to the regular season when Hines Ward called out Ben. At the time most people were shocked that Ward would do that but in retrospect, it took balls to call the team star an a hole. and the guy obviously is just that.

    b) Did your mommy say, “they save the best for last.” When you got picked?
    c) You + playground hoops = SnL skit in the making!
    d) Do you call a foul when your head squirell falls off?
    e) Are you the only one wearing “Chucks” on your playground?
    f) Do you play on a regulation hoop or “drop it down” so you can play like a big boy?
    g) “have you always thought about joining the priesthood?”
Finally, you playing hoops is just funny and you have to be a man and admit that……or show some video evidence!

I can tell you exactly why Ben is the way he is. All things considered, no matter how glamorous you may think it is to be a celebrity, I can assure you that you should very grateful you’re not Ben Roethlisberger. When Ben was just about 2 years old his mother, Ida, abandoned him and his father. Ben’s father raised him alone until Ben was 4. Can you imagine a mother abandoning her baby? What it would take to do that? At any rate, Ben’s dad remarried, but Ben’s biological mom got visitation rights every other week-end. Until she was killed in an auto accident when Ben was 8. Children don’t understand. They blame themselves. This is a classic case of maternal abandonment syndrome. In fact Ben’s mom not only abandoned him once, but twice! How do you think a child would feel about a mother who as far as he’s concerned abandoned him? How do you think he would feel about himself? The bottom line is this: Ben’s mom made him feel low and worthless. Do you ever watch Criminal Minds or Law and Order, Special Victims Unit? This is a classic story for men who hate women, who become serial rapists. Ben has a deep and abiding resentment against his mother and thereby women. He wants to degrade them. He wants to make them feel low and humiliated and worthless just like his mom made him feel. The man is seriously sick. He’s going to need to be in therapy for a long time. Like I said, you should just be really grateful you’re not him.

All we actually know is they broke up and she announced her pregnancy. The baby was born in Aug, they had broken up late Nov the prior year. Unless she knew the minute the sperm hit the egg, or they didn’t actually break up until after Nov. it’s unlikely he knew she was pregnant. Now if you want to dog him out because she told him and he didn’t marry her because you consider that dirt baggish, that is your prerogative. They broke up in 2006, 3 months before SHE announced that she was – wait for it – 3 MONTHS PREGNANT. and she had the kid in August, which would be – gasp – 9 months from when they broke up. The Rooneys can tear up Ben’s contract in his face and he can do nothing about it.
Pre-season results.. Dixon starts, Leftwich, then Batch. They will have a winning record without Ben. The Rooneys’ think… Hmmmmm.

They also need to do a pee-pee test on him for drugs. I bet the behavorial people will or they are paid off too. BAMMMM – weed, cocaine, etc.
Ben is NOT going to change. He’ll make up some story to get away with the testing and within 6 months, he’s back at it again. People don’t change unless they want to. He doesn’t want to.

I have no idea what his character really is, because I don’t know him personally. Nor do you — but there you are, “drawing your conclusions” which is a nice way of saying “declaring him guilty” of something he hasn’t even been CHARGED with.
And I’M the one who’s living in a fantasy world?
Let me leave you with the facts we do know:
    1. The accuser not only told the first cop she met she wasn’t raped, but she wasn’t even sure if she had sex.
    2. The DNA swab couldn’t even produce a nanogram of substance needed for testing, which a famous medical expert found puzzling if not downright impossible given the nature of the accusation.
    3. The bar manager said he saw Ben and the victim talking outside the bathroom door — not inside the bathroom getting banged.
And based on this, YOU’RE not the ones who are dumb and insane for claiming you KNOW he committed the crime of rape upon this woman. I am.
I’m crazy for even bringing up the possibility he didn’t do what was charged. Uh huh.
Do you morons realize what the DA is saying when he throws this case out for not even being able to find probable cause — you do realize he’s basically laughing at the credibility of the sorority girls’ story?

    http://www.weldamfm.com/ben-roethlisberger%E2%80%99s-sex-assault-accuser-andrea-mcnulty-bragged-about-sex-wanted-his-baby/
Andrea McNulty told her former co-worker, Angela Antonetti, about having sex with Roethlisberger during a celebrity golf tournament at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. Antonetti and McNulty both worked there as casino hosts. Antonetti said in a sworn statement that McNulty “expressed to me she was hoping for a ‘little Roethlisberger.”
Antonetti also revealed that Andrea McNulty asked her to travel to Pittsburgh in August 2008 for a Steeler’s game with her so she could try to “run into” Ben Roethlisberger. “I told her that she shouldn’t try to chase Mr. Roethlisberger.”
Also around this time, Antonetti said McNulty wanted to locate Mr. Roethlisberger’s cell phone number from a Harrah’s executive casino host. But she told Andrea it was inappropriate to use Harrah’s resources to contact Roethlisberger.
    And then there’s this:
    http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09231/991790-66.stm
Less than 24 hours after she claims she was sexually assaulted by Ben Roethlisberger, his accuser sent an e-mail saying she was preparing to go to dinner with the Steelers quarterback and a few others, according to Mr. Roethlisberger’s lawyer.
The note was among nearly two dozen e-mails and more than 150 instant messages that were released yesterday by Mr. Roethlisberger’s lawyer, William David Cornwell Sr., of Atlanta.

If Ben did nothing wrong, as he claimed in his press conference, why does he need to go to a clinic? To send him to a “clinic” is a clear sign the Steelers know he has a problem. Woud that make the NFL and the Steelers culpable if he rapes someone during team travel?

  248. Deb says: May 6, 2010 1:01 AM

    @ECS – Brougham Boys 74 …
Roger Goodell suspended Roethlisberger for 4-6 games and ordered him to have a behavioral evaluation. He spent the weekend at a behavioral clinic being evaluated per Goodell’s orders.
Ben OBVIOUSLY has behavioral problems. The clinical term is JACKASS. Hopefully, this is a wakeup call to FIX HIS LIFE. But the evidence still shows he didn’t rape anyone. It’s REAL simple. I’ll type slowly just for you …
Woman #1 texted a friend AFTER she was “raped” and said she was looking forward to seeing Ben again. The defense has her text messages and submitted them to the court. Sound like a rape victim to you, genius?
Woman #2 had a vaginal exam and the doctors said she didn’t have intercourse. It doesn’t matter if he wanted a blow job. She told the cops he vaginally raped her and the medical exam said he didn’t. Trust me, when a woman has really been raped, she knows where the guy stuck his penis!
    Ben = jackass not rapist
If jackass were illegal, most of the men on PFT would be in jail.

  249. Deb says: May 6, 2010 2:26 AM

    @ambientnoise …
For you to pretend ANY concern for the welfare of any woman is some bizarre cross between sick and hilarious. The amount of DNA needed to determine identity is miniscule. The amount of male DNA found during the vaginal exam was so infinitesimal it couldn’t even be tested for identity. That means there was no semen–not even the amount that would be left in the event of withdrawal–in the vaginal area. The allegation was vaginal rape and the medical exam didn’t indicate intercourse. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Nor do you care. You’ve repeatedly made clear that the facts of the case are irrelevant to your rantings. So please stop with the hypocritical moralizing. As it is, hell is going to spit blue flame when you drop in. No need to make it worse.

Here is a BEAUTIFUL article. Complete article.
    This is the TITLE—
Is Ben Roethlisberger the most hated athlete in the world?
The laying low of former Pittsburgh and NFL icon Ben Roethlisberger reached a new nadir on Wednesday with a Sports Illustrated cover story entitled, “The Hangover.”
Considering that “Big Ben” still has a pair of lawsuits (one for sex assault) pending, he’s still a long way from bottom.
The SI story, a comprehensive hit piece laying out Roethlisberger’s towering callowness, sexual adventuring and “Do you know who I am?” attitude toward the little (i.e. all) people, covers the last four years. However, it’s only taken a few weeks for Roethlisberger to separate himself from the sizable pack in the running for the most despised pro athlete alive. Now, he’s out front and running alone. (LMAO)
Roethlisberger led the Steelers to a Super Bowl victory in 2006. Only 23 years old at the time, he remains the youngest quarterback to win the NFL’s ultimate prize. A big, blue-collar worker playing the NFL’s white-collar position, Roethlisberger was guaranteed a spot as the game’s face for a decade.
    Then he started acting up.
His first mistake was getting involved in a motorcycle accident five months after the big game. He wasn’t wearing a helmet, slammed into a car and broke his jaw.
That might have been forgiven, if he hadn’t continued to ride without head protection. According to SI, a local TV station filmed him riding helmetless. The station never broadcast the footage, for fear that it would damage their relationship with the only team that really matters in Steeltown. The TV station now goes so far as to deny the footage ever existed.
The article goes on to paint a picture of Roethlisberger as a privileged and petulant narcissist who revels in humiliating waitstaff and doormen.
According to multiple sources interviewed by SI, Roethlisberger travels with an enabling entourage and likes throwing his 240 lbs. around.
“Even peripheral interview subjects would, with no solicitation, disparage the man once considered the flesh-and-blood symbol of a town built on raging rivers and hot metal,” writes SI’s Jack McCallum.
One Nevada waiter is suing Roethlisberger because he says he was fired after asking a woman in the football player’s posse for I.D. before serving her liquor. The waiter claims Roethlisberger asked for his head, and management complied.
Another Nevada service worker, Andrea McNulty, claims Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her when she was sent to his hotel room to repair a TV. No charges were pressed, but a civil lawsuit is still pending.
In March of this year, Roethlisberger went on a pub crawl in the college town of Milledgeville, a few dozen kilometres from his off-season home. Among his entourage were two bodyguards, both off-duty police officers.
Roethlisberger quickly gathered a crowd of young women wherever they went. At one club, one of the Roethlisberger’s security ushered a young, obviously drunk woman into a bathroom with the quarterback. He claims they had consensual sex. She later claimed she was assaulted. The subsequent police investigation appears to have been tainted by the fannish proclivities of the main investigating officer.
One of Roethlisberger’s own bodyguards, Anthony Barravecchio, later told police that the officer who arrived, one Sgt. Jerry Blash, referred to the accuser as “this drunken bitch.” Blash has since quit the force. Roethlisberger was never charged.
But the details of the investigation – including the fact that Roethlisberger removed his penis from his pants before he entered the bathroom – have proved a massive embarrassment to the NFL. The league has slapped Roethlisberger with a six-game suspension and forced him into therapy.
The Milledgeville incident was the tipping point. Generally, the media shy away from reporting an athlete’s indiscretions, unless they involve the police. The widespread sense that Roethlisberger had gotten away with it – maybe for the second time – prompted outrage. The SI cover is a result of that.
Interestingly, the article points out that Pittsburgh has already embraced an alternate to Roethlisberger – Penguins centre and Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia-native Sidney Crosby.
It also points out that Roethlisberger could be one, deep playoff run from winning back his fans. But the damage may already be done.
Peppi’s Olde Tyme Sandwich Shop still sells a RoethlisBerger, proprietor Lou Bosser told SI. But purchases rarely pass without comment.
“You get the bad comments,” Bosser said. “Like you got to eat it in the bathroom.”
    End of article……..
LMFAO. He’s DONE. Another ring won’t EVEN work. Mr. I threw two interceptions in SB XL. The only TD was Randle-El for those who have alzheimers.

It’s really sad what’s going on with Pittsburgh fans.
They are making up lies, trying to rewrite history, and excusing every single fact in a lame attempt to cover for the rapist that is their QB.
If they had an ounce of decency they’d say “let’s first get him off the streets so he doesn’t rape anyone else and then we can try to get him help”.
Instead it’s, “let’s get him behind center and let’s slander the victims to help him cover up his crimes”.
Once could be a false accusation.
Twice is a rapist. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
They apparently couldn’t care less if they had Osama Bin Laden as QB if he could throw a football.

Frank Burns never said Ben did not have sex with or rape the girl. What he said was the evidence that exists is far from adequate to prove that he did either. His point is that anyone who comments under the assumption that he is a rapist is drawing conclusions that are not based on the actual facts that have been documented in the case.

    Spot on ambientnoise.
This is especially sad for those apologist female fans. Really makes me sick to my stomach that they’d so stridently defend a rapist. A RAPIST!
    Wow.
    Really, really sad.
    ——————————-
No, what’s sad is that there are morons like you and your bud ambient who are so in love with the idea of a guy being guilty of a crime, they’ll accuse him without there being any evidence to to do so.
What “making up of lies” have I committed? I’ve posted only DOCUMENTED FACTS, linked when possible. I’ve used the words of people involved, and experts who’ve looked at the case — I’m afraid in this case YOU’RE the liar here.
If you had an “ounce of decency” you’d get your head out of your ass long enough to see there’s another side to the tale of woe told by these sorority girls. And that there’s more than a hole or two in their story. Don’t give me this “Pittsburgh apologist” crap you sanctimonious know-it-all. YOU are the one who can’t face facts.
See, the difference is, I don’t pretend to know for certain what happened. YOU morons are arrogant enough to think you do.
“Twice is a rapist”? Why don’t you bother to read the links another poster put up about the first case, and the emails and whatnot. See just how credible the first accuser is — moron.
And one more thing — you’re only an “apologist” if there’s something proven to apologize for. In this case, there is nothing proven. If Ben had been, say, even charged and we were defending him, then you might have a point. But since he wasn’t — you’re just dumb.
    Stupid arrogant know-it-all jerks.

    @ambientnoise …
    ————————————————
Yes, Deb, and I quoted Dr. Wecht who pretty much said the same thing. But of course, the great medical genius ambientnoise knows more than someone like Cyril Wecht – ha ha ha!
And let me finish with this: what’s DISGUSTING is how guys around here are all pretending such concern for some poor young woman in Georgia and justice and all that — PRETENDING this isn’t about their own fanhood and hatred of the Steelers. THAT is just sick! As IF they’d give even a crap about this story if it didn’t involve Roethlisberger. Gimmee a break.
Yeah, keep on pretending boys that this is about your concern for women and justice — you sick little scumbags.

The game as I’m sure you have found out through your crap team is played on the field. Where we dominate. Don’t mention one season, you have to look at the whole.
All your posts are boring and unoriginal and you never mention who your team is, wonder why that is? Having 6 rings DOES make us better than any other team in the NFL. Super Bowls measure greatness. I couldn’t be prouder of my team (yes, even Ben), and am sorry you don’t or can’t feel the same way.

Having just returned from an expedition on the Lawrence Taylor thread, we now have some valuable insight to share on the Ben hater crowd.
ampats — ripped Ben something fierce even though Ben wasn’t even CHARGED — now urging everyone to “save the jokes” and show some compassion for LT, who, after all — awww — was trying to turn his life around.
ambientnoise — far from showing compassion for the poor FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD GIRL, is trying to rip Roethlisberger now via the race card. Uh huh.
You see how easy it is to expose these clowns? They’re not about truth, justice and concern for victims — they’re all about which teams they hate. Frankly, I’m going back and forth between laughing and throwing up a little in my mouth reading their slimy comments.
Exposed. Oh how exposed they are.

  273. Deb says: May 6, 2010 12:59 PM

So the “men” of PFT care about women?
I’ve repeatedly said No! No! No! Roethlisberger is NOT a good person. He’s a jackass. His lifestyle is appalling. He deserves his suspension. But the evidence shows he didn’t rape these women. It’s not either/or. The women are jackasses, too.
But you Big Brave Caring Men have ignored my protests. You’ve called me c–t, whore, ridiculed my rape history, created vulgar user names based on mine, said I’ve got Ben’s pole shoved in my mouth, said I want to lie on a piss-stained floor and have an 8-man, said I want to have Ben’s baby, said I want Ben to put his penis in all my orifices, said you hope I get raped (again), said you hope I get bent over and raped anally.
And when you’re finished, you just zip up and walk away, feeling really good about yourselves.
Funny, I know you guys. Met one just like you a long time ago. Take a long hard look in the mirror, boys. You are exactly the abuser you claim Roethlisberger is. Only you’re too stupid to see it.

No, you sad little boy, DNA and semen are not synonymous. DNA is the genetic material found in most living things. Semen is the thick, white liquid produced when men ejaculate. DNA can be found in hair, saliva, fingernails, skin, blood, semen, and other substances. Techs need only a teeny tiny bit of DNA to make an identification. The amount found on the accuser was too small to even bother testing.
Your post simply makes evident that you’ve never had sex. When men ejaculate, they produce more than a teeny tiny speck of DNA. Even if they withdrew before ejaculating, they would produce more than the amount of DNA found on the accuser. When you’re old enough to borrow your mom’s Victoria’s Secret catalogue and spend a little private time in the bathroom, you’ll understand.

When the dust finally settles, all this whole thing really does is give us Steeler fans something to be excited about heading into the regular season.
You see, we, unlike so many other NFL fan bases, generally go into every season reasonably confident we’ll win the division, or at minimum be a Wild Card, and challenge for yet another Lombardi. [Playing in 14 AFCCGs (7-7) and 7 SBs (6-1) in 44 years causes such confidence.)
But this year the league imposed a(n arguably undue) handicap on us that gives us pause to question the outcome of the regular season.
That’s fresh and exciting for us. And we trust, fresh and exciting for our team, who like most teams, ocasionally need a unifying cause or purpose to motivate them to greatness.
So we accept the challenge and very much look forward to the immense satifaction that tucking away #7 this year will bring.
Be honest, with or without Big Ben, do you really think your team is anxious to line up against us this season?
    If so, think again.

Let’s get it right. You were playing verbal volleyball, nitpicking about women who refer to themselves as “rape survivors” rather than “rape victims.” You were having a high old time making a game of intellectualizing semantics on a subject that is extremely serious and deeply personal to me. And since I’m not made of stone, I said: “I don’t normally wish harm on people, but right now I wouldn’t mind knowing you were spending a few moments being slammed by an unwanted penis so we could discuss from a common point of reference the effects of rape.”
Somehow I don’t think that’s comparable to people that I’m not conversing with posting to me out of the clear blue:
“Just because your idea of the perfect night out is having pigpen shove his pee stick into your exhaust pipe doesn’t mean it’s every girl’s dream.” Or “Your gagging on Ben Rapistbergers pole in the bar bathroom.” Or “The attack you say you had was a lie. You wanted to be the one in the bathroom with Ben doing whatever he wanted to you and with a bodyguard blocking the way. You LOVE that helpless feeling”
But no doubt you find those two scenarios equal and the behavior of the animals posting here not only justified, but admirable. All’s fair in football blogging, right?

  307. Deb says: May 8, 2010 1:02 PM

    @RebaT
Yes, I know they found male DNA–that does not prove intercourse in the given time frame.
The vaginal exam showed a “superficial laceration, bruising, and slight bleeding” in the genital area. The doctor could not say if these were or were not caused by sexual assault. All could have been caused by assault, consensual sex, or hand manipulation by Roethlisberger or by sex prior to her encounter with Roethlisberger. When he was asked if the accuser had sex with anyone else that day, the DA refused to comment, citing her medical privacy.
But the rape kit “found no evidence of semen or discharge.” The GBI found only a speck of male DNA on ONE of the many swabs taken during the exam.
DNA is not semen; semen contains DNA. So does blood, skin, hair, urine, saliva, etc. Only a tiny speck of DNA is needed to determine identity. The speck of DNA found on the swab was so infinitesimal it could not be tested. If she’d had intercourse, there would have been at least a drop of semen–even if he’d withdrawn.
Since there was no semen and no evidence of a condom, the exam seems to indicate there was no intercourse.
I think they were fooling around, he was using his hands, and for whatever reason, they stopped. She said he just left without saying anything. (Maybe little Ben wasn’t cooperating.)
Witnesses say she was out of sight only 10 minutes. Her statement said she went to the bathroom, came out, met him in the hallway, they started fooling around, wound up on the floor, she got up, went into the bathroom, he followed, locked the door, she protested, he ignored her, they disrobed enough to have sex, he raped her, they re-robed, he left, and she followed. All within 10 minutes? And if the bodyguard was outside the door, where was he standing when they were on the floor in the hallway??
He’s a dog RebaT. You’re right about that. But he’s just a run-of-the-mill dog, not a rapist dog.
The DA said there was plenty of blame to go around to both of them. I know something about that DA. He’s a good man. He wouldn’t have said that if he really believed that girl was a victim.

  308. Deb says: May 8, 2010 2:56 PM

Yes, the fact that an adult woman is aware that boys masturbate means she can’t possibly be female. You’ve found me out.
As a rape survivor who’s spent time with dozens of other rape survivors I’m aware that rape is about power and control. Oh but wait, I’m lying about being a rape survivor, isn’t that right? Of course! Any man pretending to be a woman making up a rape story would come up with: I was working as a writer in a war zone overseas and stuck for the night in a nightmare neighborhood, trying to sleep in a tiny child’s bed in my street clothes in a place with no electricity when a guy I just met broke into my room and I tried desperately to fight him off but he was a lot bigger and stronger.
Yep, that’s a pretty typical rape story for a guy pretending to be a woman to pull out of thin air.
And my stupidity and lack of education are obvious from the detail in my posts.
My goodness … you are just a genius for cracking this case, aren’t you?
Roethlisberger is a pretty sorry excuse for a man, but the evidence says he hasn’t raped anyone. That’s why he’s not in jail. It’s not rocket science.
But while you’re so busy posturing that I lack human decency and am “apologizing” for his crimes and am a man inventing my own rape history … you KNOW the whole time none of that is true. Like I posted before, TL. You are exactly the abuser you claim he is, ramming it to a woman who won’t bend to your tantrums.
Okay, you’ve had yours for the day. Now you can zip up, tell me again that I’m pathetic, that I asked for it, and walk away congratulating yourself on what a big man you are.

    @Deb
Why would anyone believe you’ve been raped when you state ad nauseum that women lie about being raped all the time?
(Although in your defense, you can’t show actual examples of all these false accusations you insist are as plentiful as the number of words in your long winded and quite inane posts.)
And comparing being exposed as a less than intelligent apologist on a blog to being raped certainly demonstrates you’re much more familiar with the former than the latter.

  310. Deb says: May 9, 2010 1:55 PM

    @TL …
Didn’t compare your comments about my intelligence to being raped. My analogy was about sexually abusive comments directed toward me but not toward men posting similar things. Don’t need your validation of my intelligence, nor do I care whether you believe I was raped. My life is what it is. If I survived living it, I can survive the doubts of football bloggers.
You assume I immediately decided Roethlisberger was innocent because he’s Roethlisberger. Not true. For years, I believed any woman alleging sexual assault. My eyes-wide-open understanding of criminal justice didn’t apply to these issues. My brother, a criminal defense attorney, said I was the last person he’d want on a jury because I couldn’t see past my bias for the accuser. It wasn’t until he had a case in which the accuser admitted she’d made up the rape accusation for a trivial reason that I finally realized a woman could lie about such a thing. After that, I started researching and was stunned to learn it’s not uncommon. I’ve known so many real victims. The idea that someone could make it up blows my mind.
When McNulty accused Roethlisberger, as usual, my bias was for her. I reviewed her complaint and asked my brother to do the same because he’s represented both the accused and victims. Then we compared notes. From his expertise, he felt Ben’s case was stronger. From my expertise, as someone who’s had experience with many rape victims, I found a lot of holes in her story. At that point, I had reasonable doubt. But it wasn’t until the defense produced her own text messages contradicting her story–and I finally learned the previously unpublished amount of the damages she was seeking ($3 million)–that I felt certain her story was a fabrication. I’ve never known a rape victim who wanted to be paid for what happened to her.
Because the evidence showed McNulty was lying, I was a little skeptical of the Georgia accusation. It’s the reverse of the smoke/fire thing. Once someone has been accused of a crime, he’s more vulnerable to additional accusations. But I was still concerned because the circumstances were different. I have a close friend who is an assistance prosecutor in Fred Bright’s office, so I know Bright is a thorough and ethical man who would not be influenced by Roethlisberger’s fame. And I know the reputation of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. It was a matter of waiting until the investigation was concluded and trusting the results.
The results are not ambiguous. Bright said there was not enough evidence to produce probable cause for an arrest. That means ALL they had was an unsubstantiated accusation and nothing to back it. More telling was his comment that there was plenty of blame to go around to them both. Longtime prosecutors have a victim bias. He would never have said that if he thought there was a ghost of a chance that girl had been raped. And I wouldn’t have argued with such vehemence if I thought there was a ghost of a chance that girl had been raped.
I’ve discovered through this process that Roethlisberger isn’t much of a person. I pray this has been a wakeup call and he’ll make a genuine effort to change his life. But he’s not a criminal. I also pray she’ll change hers before she gets into a situation that has a truly tragic ending.

I must give you credit and career advice. You should seriously consider politics. I’ve not met many who can prattle on at such length without ever actually addressing the core issue.
    Bravo.
And The Seattle Weekly as your source? Really?
I didn’t say that there has never been a false rape allegation levied by a woman.
What I’ve said over and over – and what you and yours still insist on side stepping – is that it’s not common for one person to be accused multiple times by multiple women without the allegations having merit.
And once again your response, as verbose as it may be, is yet to show the purported plethora of examples that prove me wrong.
    Wonder why that is?

  312. Deb says: May 9, 2010 4:54 PM

    @TL …
What you fail to understand is that I’ve never been trying to prove you wrong because that wouldn’t be possible. If I said the sky is purple, how could you prove me wrong? You could provide links to thousands of references to blue skies, but if I were determined to believe the sky was purple it wouldn’t matter. I’d still come back with some inane response that the sky was purple.
Of course, it’s uncommon for one man to be accused twice of rape. That’s obvious and should go without saying. It’s uncommon for four passenger planes to be hijacked on the same day and for three of them to be deliberately flown into buildings filled with people. It’s uncommon for three hurricanes to hit the same area in Florida within a few weeks of one another.
It’s uncommon for people to experience multiple car accidents. But the likelihood of that is increased if the people drive like maniacs. The likelihood of Ben Roethlisberger being accused twice of rape increased because after the first accusation, he chose to engage in extreme high-risk behavior. Apparently, he was rude and crude with women, engaged in indiscriminate sex with women he didn’t know well, then tossed them aside–which wouldn’t leave them feeling kindly toward him. According to the police investigation, one of the drunken sorority women in the VIP room that night began raggin him about McNulty. He personally banished her from the party and the bodyguard refused to let her back in.
That was woman and her friend are the ones who dragged the accuser to the police and said Ben had raped her when she said he hadn’t. That woman and her friend are the ones who took her to the police the next day when she changed her story. That woman and her friend are the only ones who claimed in their statements that the bodyguard was blocking the bathroom. This really isn’t all that complicated if you’re willing and able to read and be open-minded. Ben has not treated people well. He’s made enemies. Some women can be very vindictive. I feel sorry for the accuser; I think she was dragged into this mess by people who had their own agendas.
It doesn’t matter that the accusations are uncommon. What matters in an adult discussion is the evidence in each case.
I provided the link to the article because it’s a good article and informative on the subject–for anyone who’s truly interested in the subject.
As I said, I wasn’t trying to prove you wrong because I can’t. I was trying to tap your humanity in terms of how you’ve behaved toward a woman you don’t know who did nothing more than post an opinion on a blog that you didn’t agree with.
Whatever you think of Ben Roethlisberger or the case against him, you should be able to have a civil disagreement with someone over a subject that most certainly is not in any way as personal to you as it is to me without resorting to that level of abusiveness. You can continue post sarcastic and superior comebacks. But you have not done yourself proud. And if it were your sister, your girlfriend, or your wife, you’d be appalled that someone was speaking to her as you have just because she took a position they didn’t like.

    Now you can zip up,
I wouldn’t mind knowing you were spending a few moments being slammed by an unwanted penis
    ==================================
    Pot meet kettle.
I guess I’d be appalled if my sister, girlfriend or wife was talking like this in a pathetic attempt to protect a rapist on the hope he can throw a few TD passes come next season.
I’d also be appalled if talked like you do and then tried to play the victim.

Once again your logic – or better, lack thereof – is impeccable.
Now Ben being accused is somehow tragic like 9/11 or people losing their lives to hurricanes?
    Pathetic.
Again, tell us the other athletes who have been accused multiple times.
You’ve repeated endlessly they are gold-diggers and how common that is.
    Fill us in.

  315. Deb says: May 9, 2010 10:29 PM

    @TL ….
My conversation with jimicos played out over days on another thread. You know nothing about the content of that discussion or the things that were said to me, but you’ve pulled one line of it out of context and tried to make a character judgment. But you’re desperately hunting for anything to justify yourself.
And in predictable fashion, you’ve deliberately distorted a comment about unlikely occurrences to say I’m comparing Ben Roethlisberger to the tragedies of 9/11 or hurricanes. That’s beyond obscene. Grow up.
I have NEVER repeatedly said anything about gold-diggers. That’s your obsession. Most false rape allegations have nothing to do with money. Andrea McNulty has a financial incentive for her false rape allegation. But nothing in the material I’ve posted to you indicates I believe there’s a financial motive behind the Georgia accusation–I don’t. You claimed an interest in the subject of false allegations (another ruse) so I provided an article on the subject that discussed the variety of puzzling motivations in these cases. Obviously you didn’t bother to read it or you wouldn’t still be blathering about gold-diggers.
This nonsense about athletes and multiple accusations is also your bizarre obsession. It doesn’t matter if a man is accused of a crime one time or 20. What matters is the evidence. The evidence in the McNulty case is clearcut. The evidence in the Georgia case was nonexistent. That is why no arrest was made and no charges were filed.
Now you can throw all the ALL CAPS tantrums you like. You can scream to the heavens about smoke and fire and the rarity of multiple accusations. You can call me a man and every filthy name in the book and rant to your heart’s content about the unfairness of life. And at the end of it all, the result will be the same: No criminal charges will be filed against Ben Roethlisberger in these two cases. No matter what you think, from a criminal perspective, he remains innocent of these allegations. That is reality whether you like it or not. Being able to accept reality is a sign of rational adulthood.
For me accepting reality means accepting that whatever mature decency I was trying to tap in you does not exist. I’ve never asked you to accept Ben Roethlisberger’s innocence. I’ve only asked you to accept that it’s possible for a sincere person to make a rational judgment different from yours based on the evidence–and that you have no reason to treat that person as you’ve treated me. But that is more than you can wrap your tiny brain around.
Rant on without me, you poor little soul. I have wasted more than too much time on this childishness.

I understand if you look at all the studies, Pittsburgh simply doesn’t have the number of educated people that many big cities have.
I understand you’re a bit backwards and in a city such as yours, football is about all you have to look forward to.
But please, at least don’t flaunt your ignorance.
    ———————————————
Bullshit call: show me these “studies” to which you’re referring. I want links and attributions, not “oh it’s common knowledge” kind of garbage.
Let’s see you produce them, coward.
Meanwhile, I’ll show you the latest Forbes Liveable City ranking, where Pittsburgh — again — topped the list. Care to know one of the main reasons? Abundance of educational sources.
Pittsburgh is a gold mine of universities and think tanks — seriously chump, you have no idea what you’re talking about. And the number of locals with advanced degrees is well above the mean (I’ll be glad to explain the meaning of that, of course.)
I’d venture to guess that Pittsburgh towers — educationally speaking — over whichever inbred part of the country you call home.
Obviously you are as uneducated and dumb as the morons who swallow sorority girls’ tales like the puppets they are.

I see, so in your case it’s justified. If anyone else does it, it’s mean and depserate.
Kind of like your whole argument trying to justify rape.
In his case it was justified or didn’t happen.
