Tim Tebow already leads the league in something

T. Tebow.jpgNo, the headline isn’t referring to dollars per autograph.

Tim Tebow is already generating big dollars for the NFL in jersey sales. He was the most sold jersey by far on the NFL’s website in April, despite not actually being the league for most of the month.

Among veterans, it’s no surprise Ben Roethlisberger has dropped out of the top 25.  Donovan McNabb’s new jersey for the Redskins was the second best seller, while McNabb’s replacement Kevin Kolb jumped all the way to No. 12.

In related news, McNabb had the best selling jersey last month at Philadelphia garage sales.

UPDATE: Here’s the complete top twenty: Tim Tebow, Donovan McNabb, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, LaDainian Tomlinson, Tony Romo, Ndamakong Suh, Sam Bradford, Troy Polamalu, Mark Sanchez, Kevin Kolb, Eli Manning, Reggie Bush, DeSean Jackson, Tom Brady, Miles Austin, Eric Berry, Aaron Rodgers, and Jeremy Shockey.

  1. why would anyone want the 4th string qb’s jersey? I can’t wait to see his embarrassing “jump pass” in the nfl.

  2. In other news, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has offered the Broncos an automatic 10-0 lead every game they start Tim Tebow at quarterback.

  3. Ahhh….Florio style.
End every article with a lame joke or insult.
    Zing!

  4. I hope Tebow does well, though I don’t think he will..
as an aside, these idiots in DC will be any XXXL jersey to support the Deadskins.. you should see all the Haynseworth jerseys, what a waste of space. Shannahan was only successful when he had Elway and Terrel Davis
I hate this franchise, and wish my Chiefs could play them – and beat them – again this year..
They will be 8-8 at best and miss the playoffs yet again.

  5. ……………………wha wha whaaaaaaaaaaaa…… On a side note, you can See Florio and the gang at City Walk in Holywood for some comedy acts!!
Dont be late… Get ur tickets before heading to the Crack Center at 1.800.corn-bal

  6. I never understood the need of grown men to walk around town wearing a shirt with another man’s name on the back. It’s really kind of gay…not that there’s anything wrong with that!

  7. You would think #7 Pittsburgh jerseys with a blank name bar would do well. Then you could add your own fun name.

  8. You mean McNabb’s Philly jersey outsold Campbell’s RedButt jersey at garage sales? Oh, Philly garage sales. Ok, for once you’re right Greg.
Yeah, the Southern Baptist Convention ‘s board and members ALL want Tebow jerseys. I’ll bet the majority of the sales were NOT in Denvah.

  9. What in the hell is Brandon Graham’s pro number, and where is his jersey?
    Can’t find it on nfl.com or philadelphiaeagles.com

  10. I hope Tebow has a Hall Of Fame Career and when he accepts his Mustard Jacket in Canton he gets to the podium he tells all his critics to go frake themselves.

  11. Actually, something pretty funny is happening out here. There’s been a big run on Brandon Marshall jerseys (No. 15, same as Tebow), which can be found for less than $10. Well, an embroiderer, for $20, will take the Marshall jersey and put “TEBOW” on the back for $20. Viola! A jersey that would cost $80 can be had for $30. Though I’m still surprised Tebow didn’t take jersey No. 316, since it was available.

    GO TEBOW. SILENCE THE HATERS.

  13. In related news, there will be a lot of Tebow jerseys available for purchase in garage sales in three years.

  14. I bought 3 Tebow jerseys: the home, away, and the Bronco orange home alternate!

  15. After he gets injured halfway into this season they’ll also be a lot of McNabb Redskin jerseys in Washington garage sales.

  16. Also in the news NY Jets jerseys with the names “Big Tony” and “Fat Vito” lead sales for customized jerseys.

  17. “In related news, McNabb had the best selling jersey last month at Philadelphia garage sales. ” – PRICELESS!!
My friend is selling his now, an autographed, framed one…….
good luck being knocked around Donnie, ya loser deadksin!

  18. I saw the ‘Drink like a Champion’ shirt in Black and Gold (Actually yellow but they call it gold). I
t wasn’t in that color before, just saying.

How do you have a close parentheses without an open parentheses?
Your editing is terrible and doesn’t ever seem to improve. Why don’t you hire someone with some of that NBC money to make sure you articles don’t have these random errors? Tools like me don’t have to correct you then…

  20. From the article:
“His Denver Broncos No. 15 was by far the most popular on the NFL’s website for April. His celebrity clearly trumps the debate over whether he’ll ever make it as an NFL quarterback after winning the Heisman Trophy and two national championships at Florida.”
I though he was number 10?? If he is #10, those people that bought the #15 wasted a ton of $$$!!
Te(bag)bow sucks. He’ll last 4 years (2 years too long) in the NFL because of his name and that’s it!!

  21. So did you copy and paste ESPN and move words around, or did they copy you again?

  23. ESPN posted almost the exact same story 17 minutes before you, making comments ‘coincidentally’ on all of the same players about the same things. Looks like you owe them an apology now?

  24. One month later from Brandon Marshall’s trade and he still does not have a number….

I wouldn’t be so sure. No one know’s what Tony Romo’s been up to this offseason.

  29. So there are going to be alot of redskins fans in mcnabb jerseys wondering “how did an ‘elite’ qb could get so bad in one year?” The answer is, he’s not an elite qb, just an overrated one. Once they get to see him play a season (if he doesnt get injured before that), that myth will be dispelled, for them at least.

  30. To all the Tebow haters out there:
You are sooooo jeolous of him! He had nothing but success in college and he has a winning attitude! He will be great in the NFL. I think the haters are so stupid to judge someone before they even take a snap. How dumb is that? Has it ever crossed your mind that maybe, just maybe, he will be very good???!! Boy, you will feel REALLY stupid if he ends up being a very good QB. I hope you can eat your words when it happens. I got my Jersey!!! 🙂

  31. What, nobody wants an alleged rapist’s jersey?
    That’s crazy…
I own all of the top NFL criminal’s jerseys.
    Rae Carruth? Framed.
    Ray Lewis? You got it.
Marvin Harrison? Every one of em.
    Pacman Jones? nahhhh

  32. Tebow’s jersey sales can only be attributed to the religious element in this country coming out to support him. Let’s be honest and grown up about this, there is no other reason. The man hasn’t played a single down in the NFL and there is a big question on if he will or can play with the big boys. Time will tell.

  33. I haven’t bought a jersey since my #28 Warrick Dunn in 1997. Who the hell can afford those things? Even the replicas are now teetering close to $100. The official jerseys are insanely priced.

  34. When Steve Buerlien was released by the Jaguars after the 1995 season, a bunch of his jerseys wound up on the backs of guys in the local homeless community.
I’m waiting to see some squeegie guy at an intersection wearing a Tebow jersey.

  35. This report is dead wrong, McNabb’s jersey was not the best selling one in Philadelphia Garage Sales . . . it did lead the way as the most offered in Philly Garage Sales . . . but there were no buyers to be found.
Westbrook and Dawkins both out sold McNabb.

Hmm, when did Jesus and Satan start playing (rooting) for the same team???? Kidding aside, I agree Go Tebow- kick some bootie, baby.

  38. Just shows how mired in superstition and religion our country still is. How sad.
He hasn’t even played a down yet. I hope he crashes and burns, although it won’t make any christian zombies regret the purchase any, I’d wager.

  39. why is Favre’s jersey up there? A one year QB that leaves his franchise hanging on whether or not he’ll be their starting quarterback after he carelessly threw away the game in the NFC Championship game has high jersey sales?
I understand the jersey sales for when he was at Green Bay where he was a Superbowl winner but there are no Superbowl champion Minnesota Vikings players in the history of that franchise.

    ————————————————–
You wouldn’t happen to wear jeans that has that man Levi Strauss’s name on the back, would you? They are touching your butt. By any chance, you don’t drive a car or truck with that man Ford’s name on it, do you? Just curious: do you drink any beer that has a man’s name on it?
You can always make a conscious decision to *not* use or wear any of those products with men’s names on them, ’cause, you know- it might be gay- not that there’s anything wrong with that.

  41. rush- what’s really sad is some pompous ass going on a message board whining about the people in his country’s religious views because he thinks it’s cool and hip to be anti-religious.
i’m not overly religious myself, but last time i checked there was this little thing called freedom of religion and i’d certainly rather see someone like tim and his inherent positivity than someone like ben and his inherent stupidity.

  42. And the Lord said to his flock. “Go forth and buyeth a Tebow jersey. Home and away…the throwback is optional.” And then the Lord said to the one true Tebow. “I have granted thee great riches. Spend it on TV commercials for the religious right.”

  43. “I never understood the need of grown men to walk around town wearing a shirt with another man’s name on the back. It’s really kind of gay…not that there’s anything wrong with that!”
I’ll never understand grown men talking about other grown men’s fashion choices. It’s really kind of gay… Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

  44. Who in the hell is buying Shockey jerseys?
I can think of at least 10 players on that Saints team I’d rather have jerseys of.

  45. i can see it now, 10 years from now there will be a rash of tebow jerseys in second hand clothing shops

  46. This is why the Broncos picked Tebow. The NFL is business. Denver knew when they picked him that every bible banger that likes football would flock to buy his jersey. This just proves that it is not all about winning games. It’s about the $$$!

  47. “Tim Tebow is already generating big dollars for the NFL in jersey sales. He was the most sold jersey by far on the NFL’s website in April, despite not actually being the league for most of the month.”
This tool assumes you mean “despite not actually being in the league for most of the month.” Seriously, gregg with 3G’s , make an effort and clean up your basic grammar. Here, maybe this will help:
    http://www.grammarly.com/?q=grammar&gclid=CNj1wdWAvKECFaEN5QodUhSsDw
PLEASE hire a proof reader or just do it yourself. It’s become a huge issue and it is distracting from the good work you guys do. I mean seriously, you guys had less typos and grammatical errors before all the corporate sponsorship.

  48. I have a black Hines Ward and a white Hines Ward and that’s all I need.

  49. Why does it have to be religious people? My parents are very religous and watch football, and neither one thought about buying a jersey based on a dudes ideals. Do all rapists buy Big Ben jerseys? There are a ton of Gator fans that would buy them. Besides, a jersey of a rookie seems like a reasonable bet as the highest selling jersey right after the draft.

  50. I don’t really care one way or the other about Tebow I do however have a question. Why is it so many thank God when they win a championship but no one blames God when they lose? After all it’s logical to conclude that if God picked one team to win he choose the other to lose.
Then again if there is a God I would hope that he is too busy worrying about famin, war, economic hardship and about a million other messes we have gotten ourselves into to even bother with what at the end if the day ends up being a very entertaining yet meaningless game.

Someone should be selling these jerseys with “DTF” on the back. Those would fly off the shelves.

  52. I can’t believe anyone would buy an Eli Manning jersey let alone him being in the top twenty! Really?

  53. So do people hate Tebow because he is a Christian or because he is one of the greatest college players in history? Really I am confused by all the hatred towards him.

  54. Then again if there is a God I would hope that he is too busy worrying about famin, war, economic hardship and about a million other messes we have gotten ourselves into
Why would God ‘worry’ about problems man has caused for himself?

  55. I can proudly say I’ve never bought or worn an athletes jersey. If you are over the age of 16, you should not wear a jersey.

  56. Trickbunny-
That was weak and don’t try to compare apples to peaches………….Walking around with another mans name on your back is kind of gay…….if not its at least ridiculous especially since the player will never where your name on his back! FYI driving a FORD truck makes you man, bitch! Man up!

    ==================================
Unless of course you are wearing Randall Gay’s jersey. Now thats killer.

  58. I don’t get it, they could be giving tebow jerseys away and I still don’t understand why anyone would want one.

  59. “So do people hate Tebow because he is a Christian or because he is one of the greatest college players in history? Really I am confused by all the hatred towards him.”
Well Rick let me spell it out for you……Teablow is one of many in a very long list of Heismen winning QB’s that will not make it in the NFL….yet some of the so called “experts” like to drool over his man hood or lack there of……we all like his “little engine that could” attitude and some are rooting for him (then there are others like myself who want to see him do a face plant) but the fact that he is a Christian makes him so goddamn annoying I cant stand listening to him talk……and then the media like to talk about him incessantly and that makes us all WANT TO PUKE!!!!!!
    Do you get it now?

  60. Rick, they hate him because he is everything they are not nor ever will be. A Christian and a damn good QB, good enough to be picked in the first round of the NFL. Having said that, some of the posters on this site are hilariously funny.

  61. I think the owner of this board shoul require a note to name your skin color so we can determine what posts are serious and what posts are racist. It seems like a lot of racists positions reach this board in one form or another.

  62. Just because the “media” or “draft hype” he received doesn’t mean he is a bad person, but yet just overly publicized. Man, I would have never thought so many people would spend so much of their own efforts hating and rooting against one other person… Chill out, smoke one and stand for something instead acting like a bashing haterade drinking idiot.
I hope he silences all of his critics once again. Jacksonville Nease HS went 2-8 the year he arrived, and then went on to win a FHSAA 4A State Championship, averaging 47 points per game along the ride in the ’05 playoffs. He broke a state title record for the most TD’s in a the title game by one player. Since then, we don’t need to bring up how he embarrassed your favorite teams over the past few years, or just flat out seemed to outrank them in the BCS. Don’t forget to mention breaking the statistical records he holds in the SEC (can’t be stopped right now). Passing Efficiency (#1 all-time in SEC), Rushing TD’s (#1 all-time in SEC.).
Fellas it’s official, this guy is a damn beast with some nasty wheels and has a feel for the game that is impeccable & tougher than nails. These type of guys do not come around often in my eyes. Also, I’ll be sure to make a list for the hardcore “Tebow Haters” to get your cheeks flushed when you’re still bashing and he’s stomping it again.
