Barron-for-Carpenter trade inching closer

PFT first reported this afternoon that the Rams were close to a deal that would send tackle Alex Barron to the Cowboys for linebacker Bobby Carpenter.

Since our report, there have been other indications a deal is imminent.  ESPN’s Adam Schefter said a deal was likely, and Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch writes a deal will happen.

Before the trade can be official, Barron needs to sign his restricted free agent tender.  The earliest that could happen now is Friday.  The two players will also have to pass physicals.

Cut that stupid ponytail-bun thing, Carpenter.
You’re an NFL linebacker, not a guitarist in a Poison cover band.

Barbie Carpenter…Who would trade a tackle one whom has started 58-60 games. For the biggest pansy in the NFL. Oh yeah the Rams. Same idiots that drafted Sam Bradford. They will never be good again. They are going to be the Lions of this decade. I know Barron has been a big penalty guy over his career but hasn’t been a bad tackle in the league. I think this move makes absolutely no sense.

  4. IKnowEverything says: May 6, 2010 6:27 PM

I’m sorry I misspoke, he has started 74 games. Barron that is.

what if Barron doesn’t sign it then what? does he get to stay in STL

  6. Chapnasty2 says: May 6, 2010 6:29 PM

Bobby Carpenter is a waste, the Rams can have him, the ‘boys don’t need anything in return

Please please get rid of Barbie Carpenter.

good trade for Dallas, Carpenter wasn’t going to make the roster this year with the drafting of Lee and Barron fills the veteran swing backup roll at tackle dallas needs…

  9. ShootahCowboy says: May 6, 2010 6:44 PM

I think we should’ve traded Barbie for a bag of footballs.
Definitely send a message as to what a bust he was…

Good deal for both teams if it happens. Neither team is getting a better player really, but neither guy is a big part of their current teams plans.
They can provide good depth at their new homes for one season and then hit the open market.
    Seems like a simple win-win.

  11. BigD88 says: May 6, 2010 6:57 PM

I don’t know how Carpenter would be depth. And I don’t want to hear about how he “doesn’t fit a 3-4″ and “would be better in a 4-3″ either.
He simply can’t tackle. Literally, he looks like a drunken co-ed whenever he has to make a tackle. If you can’t tackle, you don’t fit in any scheme.

I would not give a food stamp for Bobby Crapenter

Barron is a bad tackle even if you take away all the penalties. Check out a video on youtube called “In Defense of the Rams’ QBs” and you will see. Him starting all those games is why the Rams were so bad the last 3 years.

The Lions are the Lions of this decade.

I love angsty, blowhard, retarded football fans.
I’d also love to see them talk their smack to any of these guy’s faces.
Carpenter would turn you fat slobs into a pile of whimpering goo.
Then your pansy asses would sue him.

Sorry, I thought the Rams were trying to get better? Why on earth would they pick up Joe Dirt? OSU doesn’t produce great NFL talent anymore…… Why doesn’t the NFL see this? Spags must be smoking some dope. Probably dealt to him from Dez Bryant’s mother after he got a BJ. Dallass sucks and will continue to.
    HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!!

“This is AWESOME!!! T.Cole will love this!!”
Yeah, maybe he can get his first sack against Dallas. Probably not though. Because if this guy plays at all, it will be because the Cowboys are ahead by 30 pts in the 4th qtr.

GET to stay in ST. LOUIS?????? Instead of going to Dallas? Are you retarded? What player in his right mind would turn down a contender for the Rams. I hope that was very dry sarcasm that just wasn’t funny. Or you are the biggest tool to ever post something on this site.
