Barron welcomes trade to Cowboys

We mentioned Thursday that Rams tackle Alex Barron has to sign his restricted free agent tender before any trade to the Cowboys for linebacker Bobby Carpenter is completed.

A few of you asked: What if Barron doesn’t want to go and refuses to sign?

That won’t be a problem.  The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Barron welcomes a change of scenery and is looking forward to joining a playoff-caliber team.

So the possible trade that PFT first reported on Thursday should happen.  One sticking point in the meantime could be in Carpenter’s contract.  Carpenter is due a $1.9 million incentive in his current deal based on playing time.

It’s believed Carpenter will start in St. Louis at weakside linebacker, making that incentive easy to achieve.  The Rams could be trying to renegotiate his contract before finalizing the trade.

Dumb question posed by dumb people. Why wouldn’t he want to go?

Who questioned if a player wouldn’t want to go from St louis to Dallas????? You bunch of idiots.

the move makes sense for both teams, giving both 1st round flops to revive their careers

As someone who hates the Cowfags, I’m sorry to see you go Carpenter. You were a bullet in my anti-cowboys arsenal.

You should probably mention this in several other stories since 90% or more of what PFT does uses items originated by other organizations. Always carefully cited of course, what else would you expect from an ex-lawyer and the reason why Florio goes bonkers when he is not listed as the source for the stories that PFT “breaks”.

Rams management florking up again. A weak point for years has been the OL. Now they are in a position to have a backup-quality tackle, and they trade him away, leaving the team doomed when an injury comes up. Then, they are so shallow at LB, they are trying to hire a starter, but are balking at paying starter money. Why are these men so clueless? There’s no salary cap. As far as I can tell, the Rams should just go out and trade every draft pick they have for the foreseeable future for players who can play, because they certainly can’t draft them.

  9. Drat says: May 7, 2010 11:24 AM

For all the criticism both players — Barron and Carpenter — have received, the fact is that Barron is better at his position than Carpenter is at his. And O tackles are harder to find than WLB. So the Rams get fleeced again. Fire Devaney, he’s proving to be as bad as Zygmunt (but to his credit, not as much of an a-hole).

In 3 games last year vs. Dallas, Trent Cole had a dominating ONE sack. (and ZERO wins)
you are just a moron who calls out Trent Cole’s name whenever you get the chance. Is he the only player on the team you know?????
    SUCK IT PHILLY!!!!!

  15. AmishCowboy says: May 7, 2010 11:34 AM

Hey Ben R, Don’t you have some underage Girls to Rape?, and as far as a speed bump for Trent Cole, I didn’t see him do to much in those 3 Texas Style Ass whippins you received last year!

  16. Florio-is-a-tool says: May 7, 2010 11:37 AM

Technically the Cowboys are a playoff caliber team but they haven’t done much since Clinton was president.

  17. QB1 says: May 7, 2010 11:41 AM

Hey Philly Cheese, apparently you did not watch the 3 games last season where Cole was a non-factor. Can’t wait to see your post when a real defense sacks and intercepts the heck out of your unproven QB.

  18. JoeSchmoe says: May 7, 2010 11:43 AM

    A) Who wouldn’t want to be traded from the Rams?
    B) Why would the Rams want “Barbie” Carpenter? (and that’s coming from a Buckeye fan)

  19. QB1 says: May 7, 2010 11:44 AM

I’m pretty certain any one of the cowboys backup DE’s could replace Cole as a starter in Philly. He’s only so coveted there because the rest of their talent sucks. In contrast, I’m not sure any of the eagles starting front 7 could start on Dallas. Heck some would not make the 53 man roster.

  20. boysroll says: May 7, 2010 11:54 AM

I love at the haters. People who hate like this know they are up against one of the strongest teams in the league and wish their org was this talented.
We are adding a potential starter or seasoned backup to an already talented team. If we do not have many injuries we are going to be there at the end no question about it. 6 wins in the NFC East easily as that div blows and I predect 12-4 overall for a SB run Mther Fers….Hater this!!! LMFAO.
    HOW BOUT THOSE COWBOYS!!!!!

  21. East Bay Ray says: May 7, 2010 11:56 AM

Like a mailman, neither rain nor sleet nor dead of night will stop Cowboy-hating trolls from posting nonsense on any Cowboys story here. Eagles fans, really? We beat you down 3 times last year, and then you held a fire sale for your “franchise” QB. Yeah, talk trash, you clowns.
As for this trade, it’s pretty inconsequential. Both teams unload disappointments that they have given up on, and take on players they hope will provide needed depth. Probably low reward, but virtually no risk. If the Cowboys can’t trade Carpenter, they’ll likely cut him.

Eagle fans are truly amazingly stupid.
I will say this for eagle fans, for a team who frankly has never accomplished anything they are very supportive.
Oh who am I kidding, they are not supportive at all. They want to boot out Reid who has probably done more for that team then anyone. They were against McNabb the day they drafted him yet he is the best QB in their history. And lets face it, as soon as Kolb struggles, and like all young QB’s he will, they will want him out also.
What a joke they are….and for Philly Cheese and Trent Cole, pleassseeeeee……Cole is simply average on any good team.

  24. Philly Cheese says: May 7, 2010 12:43 PM

It’s not hate, cowpies, its confidence. I’m aware of what happened last year, just as you are of the way the previous season ended. New season, new qb, another run of NFC Championship games. Book it.

    ===================================
The above comments are just dipped in “stupid”. First of all AB’s contract is up so why would the Rams resign an unproductive former 1st rd player for depth? They already have journeymen backup OT’s that are lower cost and as productive as Barron. Second the current regime didn’t draft Barron and he longer figures in the long term plans. So why keep him around? Lastly why would a rebuilding team “trade every draft pick for a forseeable future”? You build throught the draft and fill holes with FA’s and the occasional trade.
Devaney is not responsible for the draft mistakes made before last year.

  32. troll_aikman8 says: May 7, 2010 1:31 PM

Trent Cole kind of sucks. Look at every Felix Jones 40yd+ run in the 3 losses against Dallas … You can see Cole getting abused in each big play.

to Rickah8888 and any other posters repeating the R. Lee Ermey line from Full Metal Jacket:
Append the ‘steers & queers’ line to include that the Dallas Cowboys & their fans are the representative ‘queers’ here.
It’s not fair to assume that the rest of us Texans [i.e. Houston fans] are gay or bovine, like fat & gay Dallas fans. I’d also like to submit that with the influx of Mexicans across Texas’ southern border, the Cowboys’ are now Mexico’s team. My lawn maintenance crew sure seems to like the ‘Vaqueros’.
To reiterate: Cowboys fans cutting my lawn, Texans fan sitting in the air conditioning and enjoying TV & a beer last Saturday afternoon.
That ‘steers & queers’ line is real original, by the way. In fact, you’re the first since Ermey to ever utter it! Why are you wasting your originality blogging? You could write for profootballtalk.com!

Wrong. Only time in the past decade would be the 2008 season after they went 13-3 and added more talent.
Each year the San Diego Chokers are given that distinction…..hence the name….Chokers.
