Who’s denying? Steroids were legal in the 70s. Some of our offensive players took them. So did a few players on every other team. The result: even playing field.
Now the rules are different and steroids are on the banned substance list. That’s why Cushing was suspended.

Some of your opinions from afar are hilarious.
Merriman tested positive 3 months before the season started in 2006. He had 17 sacks in 12 games and wasn’t on the juice for any of them. He passed all his drug tests his rookie year in 2005 and all of them since.
Even though his sack numbers were down in 2007 (12) it was his best overall year. Ted Cottrell used him differently than Wade Phillips had and he dropped back into coverage more.
His career has been derailed by a serious knee injury. He isn’t any smaller and he isn’t breaking down.
I would expect Merriman to be back to his old self now that the surgery is aother year behind him.

@Deb–There’s no magic food/nutrition out there. any pill would be either a precursor or outright PED. Your frame determines how much muscular size one can put on. You can’t increase in size or strenghthen your tendons & ligaments. If you hear about guys ripping muscles off bones its a good bet steroids are invoved Brian Bosworth was exhibit A–too big for his frame
