Michael Oher moves to the blind side

M. Oher.jpgThey probably won’t make a Blind Side sequel about Michael Oher’s one year struggle against all odds to overtake Jared Gaither at left tackle in Baltimore.

But if they did, Friday’s minicamp practice would be one of the turning points.

Oher lined up at left tackle Friday according to multiple reports on the scene, while Gaither was at right tackle.  The two men have flipped their roles from a year ago, which is no surprise.

Look for both players to get practice on the blind side, but it should be Oher’s job permanently before long.  The Ravens figure to open up the offense more this year with Anquan Boldin, Donte’ Stallworth, and two rookie tight ends added to the receiver mix.

  1. They should make that sequel. The first half of the movie could be Oher getting schooled on a regular basis by the likes James Harrison and Jared Allen. The previews could even show Allen doing his rodeo dance after beheading Joe Flacco.
Then, with the help of a plucky wise-cracking prostitute played by Megan Fox, he finds the inner strength he needs to become the best left tackle in the NFL.
    I’d watch it.

  2. I’m not really into older chicks, but boy did Sandra Bullock look great in that movie.

  3. Is there any way to trade Little Danny for Ozzie Newsome? We can throw in some barely used amusement parks, a few hamburger joints and crappy radio stations. Hail!

  4. They made him sound like a grown man with a 5 yr old mind in that movie. (Made him looked unintelligent)

    “Who cares?
Must really suck to have two studs that can play left tackle for the same team……

  6. This is actually a smart move along the O-Line for the Ravens. Gaither is better suited for Right Tackle, and with a line of…
Oher (LT), Ben Grubbs (LG), Matt Birk (C), Marshal Yanda (RG), and Gaither (RT)
that’s a difficult match up for a lot of defensive fronts. Also they have Chris Chester to back up either guard, plus center. Essentially they have 6 starting calibur players.
It’ll be interesting to see how the offense is this year with the addition of Boldin, Stallworth, and two rookie TEs behind Todd Heap.

  7. For the love of God, it’s enough with the Blind Side references already. Its bad enough that every announcer of every Ravens game mentions that atleast once a game thinking that it is clever, but it’s not. We ALL know he was in the movie so please give it a rest. This is getting to be as annyoing as all the Ray Lewis murder jokes that idiots still think are clever.

Was that supposed to be an oxymoron of a statement? It definintely ‘made you looked’ unintelligent if not.

Could try trading one, may get a 1st round pick or high second round. It is a good problem to have.

  11. Thats a mistake. Oher was overrated as a LT last year and was a downgrade from Gaither. I dont expect Oher to unseat Gaither as LT, he’s just not as good. My guess is this is a ploy by the coaching staff to light a fire under Gaither.

  12. I rec’d the Blind Side from Netflix & it continues to sit on my coffee table…I just cant bring myself to watch it. Even as a Ravens fan. Ill just wait for his book

  13. Ok, one, the Jets offensive line is easily better than the ravens, and two, Anquan Boldin is going to get about 3 catches for 23 yards on opening day monday night, while donte stallworth with be schooled completely by antonio Cromartie…
But i love Oher, and Gaither’s good as well, but its guaranteed they wont be on the same team for too long

  14. Opening MNF game, Jets vs. Ravens…, should be a great game. For the Ravens.., I see a steady diet of running the ball to open up the passing attack. Probably won’t see many big yardage throws, but I’ll bet they sneak a big play or two by Cromartie. He’s shockingly over-rated. The Jets will try to throw on the weak CB’s, but will fail when the DE’s chase down and/or crush Sanchez in the backfield. Jets have an average running game.., Ravens win in what will probably be a thriller start to the MNF season.

Yes Genious that was the point!!!!
You must be a RatBird fan.

  16. RhinoSteel56- And you must be an imbred snaggle-toothed pitt piece of trash. Ok, Ok, maybe that is mean… maybe then just your moms.

  17. Most people were kind of shocked that Rice outright won the starting RB job last season, but that didn’t last long. Oher could very easily be better than Gaither at this point, and I wouldn’t be too surprised by the move. Newsome doesn’t just have a knack for talent, but OLinemen seem to be some of his smarter picks. As for Jets vs. Ravens, Faneca could leave a much bigger hole then they planned.

Ozzie has hit one some pretty good lineman lately but to say he has a knack for it is an overstatement. He’s hit on as many as he wiffs on.
    Adam Terry
    Chris Chester
    Tony Pashos
Dave Hale has done nothing to this point
Oneil Cousins looked atrocious last year when he was challenged with a good pashrush
Terry and Chester were both early picks and neither of them ever could solidify a starting spot on that OL, like they were expected to.
