You guys do realize, no matter how hurtful your comments try to be, every single one HELPS this website. Most of you should be shoving your feet in your damn mouth for coming here every day just to hate for no reason.
As for Smith, he parlayed a few good years and one great one into a big contract, will never get another one because he’s an ass who punches his teammates, doesn’t give the effort or produce the stats anymore, and is shorter than my grandmother, and frankly there are few football players I like less, and this is coming from an Eagles fan…

Everyone loves the action here on PFT until:
A. Your favorite player turns out to be a serial rapist;
B. Florio weighs in on something legal;
C. Someone mistakes this plus-sized message board for something akin to actual journalism
Face it folks, the only reason this place still exists as a football blog is that its easy to register and most of the comments aren’t edited or filtered much.
Relax, Stevie…Clausen will know if you think he’s a punk by how you treat him, not by what some blogger says on his page.
Florio is half lawyer, half football fan, and all blogger…while he does us all a favor by rounding up the tidbits of football crap every day (or hour), I don’t think his efforts are getting him the Pulitzer anytime soon.

I will be laughingly surprised if my first response gets released for viewing, doubt it…lol
But seen another thing in this article that just makes me laugh out loud.
Panthers receiver Steve Smith has not reacted favorably to our report from Thursday regarding the locker-room reaction to rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen’s initial minicamp.
“OUR”, gutless once again, can’t even put “MY” report.
Now to see if both of these show up in responses. Doubt it though. GUTLESS people don’t like to be called on their comments.

I didn’t follow the Walsh situation as closely as I have some others, but that doesn’t surprise me. What passes for journalism now wouldn’t have met any reasonable libel standard a few decades ago. If you read up on it, the Washington Post editors undertook a painstaking vetting process before printing each article in the Watergate series. Woodward and Bernstein were required to have multiple sources for their material. People were willing to go to prison to protect their sources because livelihoods and sometimes lives were at stake.
I’m not trying to impugn Florio’s integrity, but today’s bloggers work without any editorial training or supervision. They can say anything they want about anyone, it goes viral, and supposedly legitimate news outlets quote them without question. Even IF the subject of their commentary is capable of refuting the information, it’s too late. Damage done.

One last thing Florio. If Smith actually said this, he would know to whom he said it. So your excuse of “he wants to ask me who my unnamed source is and I have to protect that source” just doesn’t hold any water. If this statement from Smith was true, Smith would know who the source is, so there would be NO need to protect the unnamed source. Sorry, but by logic, you are caught in your own lie.
Also, your coverage of some small markets, and especially the Panthers is very lame. Here’s just a few examples:
Steve Smith fakes injury to get a contract extension (it was proved he did have an injury and returned to the team when healthy WITHOUT a contract extension)
Steve Smith to be traded (um, he’s still with the Panthers, another swing and a miss)
Steve Smith tells Delhomme “You are not my QB anymore” (although this statement is true, you conveniently left out that Smith was joking with Delhomme at the time he said it, trying to cheer Delhomme up after an INT)
Marty Hurney lame duck G.M. (Hurney has had a contract extension on the table for almost a year)
Face it Florio, you Carolina “sources” suck ass. I’ve been coming to this site from almost the day you started it. I’ve defended you many of times. But not any more.
The fact that the 180+ comments (and many of these comments are from fans of the other 31 teams) are calling you out for your cowardness just goes to show that the fans of this site (you know, the ones who generate the “hits” you can show to advertisers so that you can put food on your table for Mrs. Florio and Florio Jr.) are pretty much fed up with BS reporting on your part.
I’m glad Smith called you out on your BS. And I hope you learn two valuable lessons from this:
1) Just because one “unnamed source” says something, try to verify it with someone else that may not have an agenda. Unless you don’t really care if your credibility continues it’s downward path in the crappy.
2) For Pete’s sake, get some reliable sources in Charlotte and other small markets. Your track record in Charlotte alone sucks ass.

The way someone talks doesn’t have that much to do with how smart they are anyway…and I say that as an English major. One can speak in a certain dialect and be smart as hell. Say whatever you want to about Smitty (and some of the “negatives” are true) but the guy is NOT dumb. I bet you when he is done playing, he will never be found down by the river in a van a few years later. He’s protecting his finances smartly like other players should. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Smitty and others think Clausen is a punk…for many many reasons. And I don’t blame them for not wanting that thought to escape the confines of their practice fields.
To Deb re: your comment on having two sources…this was Pats fans biggest problem with the whole Matt Walsh BS. Tomase had no corroboration from anyone and just ran with an EXTREMELY damaging rumor at a horrible time (right before the SB) from his one unnamed source. This resulted in Pats brass having to take time to respond to all that garbage the night before the SB. No truth to the story whatsoever and the turd kept his freaking job @ the Herald. His editors who allowed him to run with an uncorroborated story should have been removed as well. None of them lost their jobs for lying.

You have to laugh at all the guys who are posting that Florio has no source and just made this stuff up and how that’s what he always does is just print stuff that he makes up and what a douche he is. Either that or you try to spin what a guy said into something else and that right 5 stories about the about he said and meant even though he never said or meant any of it. Then you say because of that the guy is probably going to be traded. And if hes not traded you just say its because the market isnt their.
Anyone with a half a sack in the media would of went on the air and defended their story and would have just said you cant give your source. No one would try to explain why they cant give up their source. And certainly no one believes thats why you didnt go on the show. You just didnt go on the show because your afraid to make the same smart ass snarky comments when you dont have a computer screen in front of you and you knew everyone would see the persona you try to create online is really just an act and your really just a mouse. You also knew your story was garbage and you wouldnt have been able to hide it over the phone.
