During the draft, a strong rumor emerged that the Minnesota Vikings were in hot pursuit of Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Ultimately, no deal was struck, either with the Vikings or any other team.
But the matter is hardly dead. Haynesworth continues to boycott offseason workouts in D.C., and the Vikings may be down two starting defensive tackles for four games — or one for eight.
Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN.com reports, citing unnamed NFL sources, that Haynesworth is interested in joining the Vikings.
The question becomes whether the Vikings are still interested, whether the Redskins are willing to move him, and whether the two sides can strike a mutually acceptable deal.
Hmmmmm. Fat Albert Haynesworth will cost a lot of money! Even then, who knows how long he’s going to stay motivated to perform.

Pat Williams only has a year left. So this would really make sense. However the price will need to be lower than what the skins paid for him. The Vikes need to save up for when they need to resign Adrian.

This would be a steal if the Vikings sign him. The big chunk of his contract was paid to him already so it would be a bargain if they sign him for what’s left on his contract. The only thing that would make this not work out is if the skins want 1st round picks. The Vikings front office is one of the best in the business if not THE best so I don’t think they’d go for that.

Haynesworth, a career underacheiver and general problem child, has a big, big season when his contract is up and signs a record deal with the team that never met a big name guy it wouldn’t overpay. Before the ink is dry he is no longer as dominant and after one season they’re looking to bail on the guy.

Evidently ol’ Fat Albert heard about Minnesota’s new “Take Training Camp Off” program that was put into effect last year.

I don’t see it. The Vikings have taken calculated risks with players such as Fred Evans, Jared Allen, and Percy Harvin, but Haynesworth is in another class. You could argue that Evans et al. committed youthful indiscretions and, in the right environment, have thrived. Haynesworth has at various times been a turd, lazy, and now a malcontent. It might be tempting, at the right price, but Haynesworth’s record of misbehaving is too long.
Almost every 4-3 DT in the league wants to go to Minnesota or any other team in contention that needs one.

Haynesworth and Kevin Williams are the two best DT’s in the league. Jared Allen is the best DE in the league. This would be the official re-birth of the Purple People Eaters.

I watched him play last year for the skins, and this guys when hes in there is about as disruptive as it gets on the inside. And when with the Titans was one of the best defensive players in all the NFL. You pair him with Kevin Will, and you have easily the best foursome of dt’s in the league. With Pat Williams and Jimmy Kennedy being reserves who could spell Kevin and Albert this would be scary. It would completely eliminate whatever run game already exists agains the Vikes and makes a scary pass rush better. They need to get this done at all costs, especially with a likely suspension coming for the Williams boys.
Maybe they can try him at RB and see if he can hold the ball tighter that my 90 year old grandmother.

everything always depends on the circumstances. if the vikings were able to sign fat albert for the right price i see no reason not to go for it. obviously no deal like the stupid skins gave him, but pay the man for what he is…a top DT in the league. even without the suspensions to the wall, haynseworth has to be an attractive option to an already dominant DL.
Skins should fine Fat Alert for every timeout caused by not getting his out-of-breath ass off the field.

In my personal opinion the Vikings can’t afford him. They still have 12 mil waiting for favre to make a choice.
