Vince Young works on throwing to his left

Rick Mirer couldn’t throw to his left.

Vince Young isn’t quite as bad.  But he’s working to improve.
Young completed only 46.6 percent of his passes to the left sideline last year.  His mechanics got sloppy on throws across his body, and he missed some open receivers.
“Sometimes I let my hips open up too much and I kind of fling the ball instead of being more balanced and having a good base and good frame in making a better throw to the left,” described Young.  “So that is one of the main things I am working on, keeping the ball higher and not getting too relaxed.

  1. Bigbear, your comment might’ve been funnier had there been much of a grain of truth to it, but it was a nice attempt.
All plays on which Vince’s primary read is to the left shall henceforth be prefaced with “magnum” in the playbook.

  2. That’s fine and dandy for minicamp and OTAs, or for a kid in HS, but in the case of a 27 year old QB entering his fifth season in the NFL, I’m guessing that under fire, he will revert to whatever habits got him to this point.

  3. George? Zoolander? Obama? You guys are in great form this Sunday!!!!
As for Vince Young, he is really growing up. Sometimes it takes longer for boys to become men. Looks like he’s on the right track.

Good luck with Asomugha in the Left side in wk1

I’m sure he’ll have fun with the rest of the defense though.

I wouldn’t be so sure. But we’ll see.

  6. What Vince needs to learn is how to deal with negativity.
He is terrible at it and it has shown throughout his football career. He can’t handle when things go bad and starts acting like a spoiled brat.

  7. Uh, he should work on throwing to his right as well. Maybe to the flat, to the middle, deep, short, in, out, ………
