Ray Edwards plans to skip mandatory minicamp

Don’t call Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards a holdout.

He’s one of the many unsigned restricted free agents out there, unhappy because the collective bargaining agreement kept him from hitting the open market.

Just don’t expect Edwards to be on the field for the Vikings anytime soon.  He’s expected to continue to skip voluntary work, and Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports Edwards won’t be at the team’s mandatory minicamp from June 11-13.  (Although it’s not really mandatory for him.)

The timing works out well for Edwards.  He needs to sign his tender by June 15 or the Vikings can reduce his offer to 110 percent of his 2009 salary.  Look for him to sign around June 14.

Since he’s unsigned, the Vikings also can’t fine him for skipping out.  The Vikings haven’t offered Edwards a long-term deal.

Well you can call me Ray, but you better cough up the hay, and ya doesnts have to call me holdout.
Ray is getting screwed this year, tough luck baby. Work on your own stay in shape a make all QBs pay in 2010 on your way to a Probowl and a huge paycheck next offseason. Your gonna need it because me and Oldbama are gonna raise taxes 25% this coming year to pay for all this free crap we keep telling you we’re giving to people who need it. Plus we’re gonna give Fannie May another 10 billion and we’re gonna charge everybody with a job for it. Unless you don’t have insurance of course.
I love Sweden, its just so fair.

He sucks! What is he thinking, because he finally got to 3 sacks in one game after 2 years with Jared Allen, Pat Williams and Kevin Williams recieving all the double and triple teams.

This isn’t his first work stoppage, he had an extended one the season he predicted he would break the single season sack record and came up short by a mere 15.5 sacks.
He is embraced by the Viking fan base who know something about making wild predictions (this is our year!, we are going to win the Superbowl) and then falling woefully short. But let’s give them both their due, like the circus, where we would be without the clowns?

Ray got victimized by the un-capped year, plain and simple. When you have turds like Johnny Jolly making more money than you, it tends to piss you off… he’s just voicing his discontent. Hopefully they give him a long term contract next year.

Hahah why I’ve never liked Ray Edwards. CONGRATULATIONS TO HIM THOUGH, he can get sacks on the QB every couple games. If I knew EVERY single snap I would be single covered, I gotta think I could beat the RT at least one time a game for a sack.
This is ridiculous. We can throw anyone in there and they’d do really well playing next to Allen and the Williams Wall. We should have traded him before the draft when his stock was slightly high. Brian Robison and Everson Griffin can do just as good a job as he can.

he forgets to mention how his team has been br a utter failure, unless you wanna call a sucessful season losing to the Cardinals….
should we list all of the packers failures?
bc unless i am mistaken winning a superbowl over 15 years ago isnt such a big deal, congrats on the trophy….its just 2 damn bad you guys wont be seeing another 1 anytime soon…
after all we all saw how bad erin rodgers choked. and punted the ball into the gut of a cardinals lineman

  32. HowIronic says: May 10, 2010 11:51 PM

This guy is such a mediocre loudmouth. Everyone talks up his game against the ‘Boys, like he did something special, but it seems like when he hurt his knee and Robison came in to spell him, he tore the place up just as well, given that he had less time on the field. The Cowboys O-Line just got overpowered that game, and a career day fell into Ray Edward’s lap. I wish he’d convert all this hot air into a head full of steam and actually play to the level of the guys to the right of him that are making him look good.

and that’s all true, except for one thing–we don’t talk about the titles because there AREN’T any.

Give me a break, that was over 30 years ago, to get with the times, it’s 0-5, the Vikings record in the last 5 NFC championship games.
The old Vikings choked in the Superbowl, the new Vikings aren’t quite as patient, they choke in the NFC championship game.
    There, that clears that up.

Dewey, counting the days until regular season.
Round about the 3rd week of September, you’ll disappear again.
Yep Jimmy, the “new ” Packers seem to be chokers too, what’s your point?
I guess they have to be better than the Vikes at that too?
They choke in the WC game and give up51! points.
600 total yards and 150 rushing yards to a horrible rushing offense!
Not to mention the “star” Qb not being able to see a rush up the gut and holding on to the ball too long, something he did all year.
Thats ok , clifton and tauscher are going to solve all the problems…..hpe they paly defense, Arizona exposed that over rated defense.
Dewey, Id trash talk the Bears, but really, what’s the point? They suck as much as you do, that is a hell of a lot.

    Didn’t think so.
When you have to resort to little sister put downs, You know you have lost the battle. Is that supposed to make me angry or something?
    Pathetic.
Nope the vikings haven’t win a title.
You got me there. Now what?
Keep dusting off the ancient trophies like they mean something. They don’t, they are nice to look at though aren’t they?
Let me know what A-Rod and the gang think of them. I’m sure they would prefer one of their own.
Those trophies are for morons like you that don’t have a life , or an argument.
Jimmy, the next time you have sex, will be the 1st time.
I’m willing to venture a guess that outside of your PC or a porno mag, you’ve never seen a grown woman naked.
You have nothing. It’s the same tired post day after day, with slight variations.
You are a freaking laughingstock on this site.
You and your buddy Bob Nelson, should probably take a hand in hand jump off of lovers’ leap.
