Rex Ryan challenges players to weight loss competition

They are calling it “The Bigger Winner.”

Rex Ryan will take on defensive tackle Kris Jenkins and offensive tackle Damien Woody in a weight loss competition that will continue through July 30, the start of training camp.

The three men currently combine to weigh roughly half a ton.

“I would say something like ‘Get your popcorn ready,’ but we don’t need to be eating popcorn for this,” Woody told the Jets’ website. “I don’t have any trash-talking right now. This is an idea that Coach Ryan thought about and it’s a great idea. We’re going to see who the best man is.”

Ryan’s gastric bypass seems like the equivalent to a PED in a weight loss competition, but it could hurt him. He’s already lost 37 pounds, which don’t count in the contest. Before the surgery, Ryan was close to 350 pounds, around Jenkins’ playing weight.

We can only hope the final weigh-in is televised, with gigantic scales and awkward outfits.
