Rex Ryan is the best thing that happened to the Jets since Joe Namath and Weeb and Probably to the NFL in the last 30 yrs. as far as head coaches go. Im so sick of watching head coaches Tip-Toe through interviews and press confrences,so damn scared to say the wrong thing or offened anyone. They all have to walk this line in order for the franchise that they work for to appear so clean and politicly correct.New York knew exactly what they were getting when they hired Rex. He is a guy who says what he means and doest care what you think of him ...alot of these haters out there wish they had the stones to do the same. You can come up with all the stupid shallow fat jokes you want....Real loosers always go after something thats easy to moch...And you know it alls out there who know how his career is going to be.....Just SHUT UP and lets see what happens. GO JETS!!!....God Bless REX!!

I honestly don't get why so many people hate Rex Ryan.
Is it because he's everything a coach should be?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
You ARE kidding, right? I know it is typical of a fan to think no wrong of their new coach, but if you can not see why Rex is not great head coach material you have serious issues in objectivity. The man is talented, but is better suited to a coaching role where there is someone to keep him in check. This year could be disastrous for the Jets. They have recently acquired a number of players that are prima donnas, and you need a head coach that can keep all the egos on this team in check. Look at the Chargers with LT and Norv Turner. They had what was probably the most talented team in the NFL, but Norv couldn't keep the egos in check. You have LT and Rivers, and Merriman starting out the season talking their heads off about how talented the team is, and talking like the SB is basically a foregone conclusion. They start believing their own hype, so when things start going badly they start the blame game, since the problem obviously couldn't be them since they are so great, Then they start really falling apart when they need to be functioning as a unit.
Rex needs to keep them in check, or the same thing will happen to them as it happened to the Chargers, and the Ravens. Problem is that the coach has the same problem, and can't stop talking about how great he and his team are. His mouth will add to these egos, and the fall will be ugly. They have very little chance of functioning as a team when they will be most needed. And while a weight loss program and/or challenge is a great idea, you do not challenge your players to a competition with you AFTER you have been given a decidedly unfair advantage! The players might lose a bit initially, but i would imagine that the end result will be resentment, and maybe weight GAIN. Rex will win because of his advantage, and I doubt he will miss an opportunity to gloat, either in public or to the players. The players will be resentful because their coach is gloating after having an unfair advantage, and they will either bow out of the contest, or simply stop trying. Worse, if they try to win, they will likely not be in great shape for football, since they will have to diet in an unhealthy manner if they wish to keep up with a man who has had weight loss surgery.

Empire Jones says: I was just quoting the article's facts, FOOL. You Mr. T??? Or just share the same lame haircut
The article points out that he 'already' lost close to 40 lbs. which I would think that a brained person who doesn't even know anything about the situation would infer meant he had the surgery fairly recently. Plus, why comment on the situation if you obviously don't know anything about it? That's how I drew the conclusion of fool. And no, I'm not Mr. T and don't have a mohawk but the thought does make me laugh.
==================
Okay, you want to talk facts, but you don't really use them.
Ryan had surgery two months ago (March 13).
That's 8 1/2 weeks. So he hasn't even lost 5 pounds a week. Your first week after should see at leas 10-15 pound weight loss.
That's not a good number for a guy that is on his feet all day and walking around a field evaluating players.
That's not a good number for a guy that has access to healthy food all day at team buffets that would serve chicken, fruits, vegetables.
That's not a good number period. Not even for a guy that works a desk job and has none of the advantages Rex Ryan does.
Most fat guys can lose the same 4-5 lbs a week by just cutting fat and calories. If you know anyone thathas had any type of procedure done, guys will lose 5-10 pounds a week easy. Ryan is easily 150-200 lbs overweight and the pounds should be dropping much faster at this initial start.
And actually, the whole point of my posts is to point out that a guy so out of control with his own physical being shouldn't be the guy trying to motivate his players. When they see his lack of self-control, his words fall on deaf ears.

Always concerned about other people's overweightness.

I'm a little surprised they want Jenkins to lose weight though, his size helps him dominate his gaps. I wont presume to know more about defense than Rex Ryan though. Damien Woody can probably use a bit of weight just because he's the run blocking tackle, it wouldn't hurt to have a bit of athleticism in him so he can possibly slide off his man and make a second block when possible. I think his age might prevent that from happening altogether though.

Jets fans are easily the most delusional, ridiculous, and abrasive fan base in football. If you don't believe read all of the "everybody else is jealous posts" on here; jealous of what? All of those Super Bowls? Being the second most popular football team in New York City? Anyway, I digress, because I absolutely love Rex. He is so good for football. In the AFC East, you have two coaches in Belichick and Sparano who play it dry and close to the cuff, almost as if they are professionals or something, you have the Bills that don't really matter, and now you have Rex Ryan giving awesome soundbite after awesome soundbite. It's great on two levels; one, Ryan is god damn likable, a sort of bloated Howard Stern, saying whatever he feels and not giving a damn who gets mad, secondly, it gets Jets fans all riled up, to the point that they forget about not winning a Super Bowl since gas cost 35 cents a gallon. The Jets are the redheaded foster child of the NFL, but Rex is their new social worker. Love it. Rex Ryan is one of the best things that has happened to the NFL in the last few years.

yawnflorio
... while the Jests made it all the way to the AFCCG. Trading on titles that were won by cheating.
since spygate
2007-AFC Champions
2009- AFC East Champions
By the way how is that Jets cameraman doing that was thrown out of Gillette Stadium in 2006???
The problem with Jests fans is they talk very big but never back it up.
What did the Jests win last year? Every team gets lucky under certain circunstances and your luck was when the Colts pulled their starters and laid down. And what happened when you played them again with PM?
Could be a promising season ahead for the red headed stepchild from NY but you don't win anything in the offseason and the Jests have not won anything in 41 years.
The only thing the Jests have won are the biggest talkers with nothing to show.
Typical !!!!
When you actuallly win something, please let us all know .
Anyone ever wonder why Rex Ryan was passed over for the Ravens HC position??
Just asking??????????

The fact that Rex Ryan is going to participate is a bonus motivation factor for them (besides the possibility of losing their jobs). In no way would they want to lose to Rex Ryan in a weight loss contest. They'd never hear the end of it.
