Doug Williams is out in Tampa

Several media outlets report that former NFL quarterback Doug Williams, the MVP of Super Bowl XXII, has left the Buccaneers. He has served most recently as director of pro personnel.

The news comes both from Steve Duemig of WDAE and PewterReport.com. Per Duemig, the Bucs are in the process of restructuring the front office.

Williams previously served as head coach at Grambling from 1998 through 2003. He reportedly interviewed at Southern University and South Florida before opting to stay with the team at least through the 2010 draft.

UPDATE: The Bucs have announced the move. "[G.M.] Mark [Dominik] and I have sat down and talked about my future,” Williams said in a team-issued release. “After a lot of thought, I felt that it was the right time for me to look at new options. I wish nothing but the best for the Buccaneers.”
