I hope the AP voters take Smith’s statement to heart. THere is a sense of entitlement among some of them: they feel no responsiblity to make a statement about cheating with their vote. Don Banks @ SI.com is being an absolute a z z about the revote, and brags that he will vote for Cushing again inspite of his cheating. That sends an irresponsible message to HS and college athletes, who can get the impression that Just Win, Baby! is all that matters at the next level.

logically the NFLPA should be more interested in eliminating steroids and the like than anyone else.
It is their members who will have to sacrifice their health to compete in a league where steroids are tolerated.
Management might actually benefit from ‘roided up athletes to entertain fans with, maybe even a home run record race to bring them back to the stadium.

I think you are misinterpreting the quote. The fact that Cushing’s name is no where to be found leads me to believe he is not calling Cushing anything. Furthermore, the important part of that is the reference to that fact that the matter will be addressed in the next CBA. If he agrees with process, why would it need to be addressed? That sounds more like he doesn’t agree with the current program, and if the statement was made in relation to the Cushing suspension, then I would conclude that he doesn’t agree with it.

All you people saying the drug testing process is a unreliable, etc need to read the policy. This is not your piss in a cup truck driver test.
NFL players have to be naked from knees up when they provide the sample. Nothing hiding in their shirt.
After he failed it, they tested a second sample of his taken at the same time as the first. Results from that confirmed the first test.
In order to fail a test he must have been significantly outside the normal range. But that’s not all. Once the urine test fails, it is just the start.
Then they give him a complete physical, including an MRI of his balls (checking for testicular cancer).
Why do you think it took six months to officially fail?

I dont think there’s any semblance of “a sense of unity” amongst the NFLPA ranks.
Both sides need to get this overwith. It’s not just a work stoppage that’s bad for the game. This process is under a microscope and the fans HATE it, no matter what side they’re on.

I understand the point that cheating is bad but isn’t there a difference between steriods and star caps? One is over the counter and the other is prescription based. I say stop suspending players for taking chemicals that are on sale everywhere. Suspend them if they break a law.

I didn’t see Cushing’s name anywhere in that quote. I assume if it was in the statement, you’d have quoted it. I’m certainly not clicking on a link to the NFLPA site.
So what’s your point? I’ve got hCg in me, it’s in seminal fluid. Every man has it unless they’re shooting blanks. Plus, there are many reasons for false positive hCg tests. Maybe he cheated, but they certainly haven’t proven it. Stop being so ignorant, Florio.
A few years ago, you didn’t carry other people’s water. So why now? And why for D Smith? He’s a hack.
