T.J. Lang out after wrist surgery

As the Packers hope to improve their offensive line play after a dismal (at times) showing in 2009, one of the men on the depth chart will miss all of the offseason workouts.

Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel recently reported that guard T.J. Lang, a fourth-round pick in 2009, will miss all offseason practices after undergoing wrist surgery on April 5.

Lang, who appeared in every game last year and started three, is expected to return for training camp.  It’s possible, however, that he won’t be ready to go.

He fractured the scaphoid bone in his wrist during December.  After the injury didn’t heal properly in the offseason, surgery became necessary.

Lang is expected to compete with Daryn Colledge and Jason Spitz for playing time at left guard.

When I first read this I thought, ‘How could anyone write something so incoherent.’
Then I saw you were a Vikings “fan” and had my answer.

    ct,
Comprehension isn’t your strong point in reading skills I gather. “After the injury didn’t heal properly in the offseason (since the break in December, bone break that is), surgery became necessary.”
Florio, can you please include pictures for the idiot queen fans…you know, the ones that can’t tell goldilocks from the three bears without the horns on the head…..

  5. irishgary says: May 12, 2010 8:24 AM

    @ctvikingsfan
Did you read the entire article? Most atheletes would try to let something like this heal instead of going through surgery. Probably suggested by a Dr. Next time he will probably call you for advice……..

  6. Afternmath17 says: May 12, 2010 8:27 AM

Dang, I hate to see this guy miss out on the offseason. He’s got talent and could really use the practice. Florio, Lang is expected it backup Tauscher at RT.

  7. zangy says: May 12, 2010 8:30 AM

Pretty sure Lang is penciled in as the backup to Mark Tauscher and is not competing for a starting job at guard. Regardless of that, this is too bad, he is a promising young player. Hope he makes recovery in time for training camp.

  8. chickenragnarpartdeux says: May 12, 2010 8:32 AM

This guy is like a turnstile anyway.
Better that he isn’t there. Of the 3 mentioned, if 2 are still on the roster on opening week-end, the Packs OL is in trouble.
    This is TT’s last year!!

You are about as dumb as any Viking fan I’ve ever come across. That’s saying a lot!! It appears that reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit. Did you not read that it said AFTER it didn’t heal properly???

  13. Shalhoub66 says: May 12, 2010 9:31 AM

    Vikings fans are just talkin shit about last year becasue they aren’t sure if they will be good or not. meaning they don’t know if brett is coming back. that must suck;
your qb= old and busted OUR qb= new hotness lol

I heard Lang was just a diva and didn’t want to go through training camp. This just gives him a built-in excuse.
He’ll probably show up a couple weeks into camp, start, and everything will be just fine…

Hey, that would be great! Until the Packers beat the Vikings and/or get a sack, you’ll keep your mouth shut? Terrific! So we won’t hear from you again until sometime late into the season (if at all?) Wonderful! Thanks for playing.

I hope this isn’t a botched attempt to try to compare the two situations. Like trying to say that Favre gets too much scrutiny from rival fans and the media? I like to see the good in people, so I think you’re not that dumb, DC.
By the way, Lang could end up being a nice player. I’d have no problem with him succeeding Tauscher at right tackle for the long term. Hopefully he’s not needed early on this year.

thats funny all you puckers fans take shots at vikings fans and there intelligence.but never try to correct us when we cut on your team.hey dumb dumb ambrose now iam going to act like you.i was talking to love boat about the shutting of the mouth.thats funny you guys talk about brett being over the hill and in the same statement you say that we dont know how good we eill be because we dont know if bretts coming back.i guarentee that if he doesnt come back all you pucker fans are going to say that our season is over with.did all you pucker fans still have all your favre shirts and merchandise?

  21. danphxariz says: May 12, 2010 12:06 PM

Lang is supposed to play right tackle, not guard as you say. He was possibly going to back up Clifton at left tackle, but when the team drafted Bulaga, he’s envisioned at RT as the eventual starter there.

  22. DCViking says: May 12, 2010 12:16 PM

    1) It was meant tongue in cheek — the situations are obviously not the same for many reasons.

Not to be a grammar nazi and all, but a little spacing would do you wonders.
And yes, we still have our Favre stuff. Mostly because it took a severe decline in value when he joined the Vikings so we couldn’t sell it.
Truth is you have no idea how good you will be with or without Favre. You’re making the large assumption he’s going to be able to repeat last season’s performance should he opt to come back. While it’s certainly possible he does, the opposite is also true. You look at his historical record and you’ll not he completely out performed himself. It’s possible last season was merely an anomaly and this season he’ll go right back to normal, or worse.

  25. PackAttackBackMan says: May 12, 2010 1:22 PM

No big deal…….Lang is not a rookie and will be prepared for training camp. Look for him to be starting by week 8. Only people making a big deal out of this is those loser Queen fans. Get a grip ladies….

Dude, you are golden. Exactly what is a “pucker”? And I see you used “fudge packer” as well. Neat. I’m sure when you reach puberty you’ll graduate to more clever barbs, like “Karen Rodgers”.

  27. nerd says: May 12, 2010 2:51 PM

Lang was going to back up Tauscher as his primary responsibility. MM also wants him to compete at the left guard spot. Although the rookie Newhouse should be getting some time there too.
Lang is the future RT, long term.

50 some sacks on the year?
There are no good players on that OL.
Now you are going to say they got it fixed with Tausch and Clifton, right?
What happened in the WC game then, what, was that 5 or 6 sacks given up there?
Along with 51! points nearly 6oo total yards and 150 of that on the ground to one of the bottom half rushing teams.
Yet, you are all on here bragging how the Pack is going to dominate?!?!
Oh yeah, that’s your typical moron, um , er, packer fan.

  29. TheBaySay says: May 12, 2010 5:33 PM

CR2, when you’re playing from two or three scores down much of the game, you’re likely to give up some sacks, especially on the road. Somehow I think you know that. The OLine didn’t give up the points and rushing yards. Somehow I think you know that too. With the likes of ctvike, packerhater28, and a couple of others who occasionally take a break here from their porn fishing, you shouldn’t be so quick to call Pack fans morons either. As, again, you know. We all have our crosses to bear.

the vikings dont have the top oline in football themselves do they?? I mean, like, the whole world watched favre take it up his country ass from the saints dline which isn’t really all that good. Lang is halfway decent, and he’s young. Im not worried. Ahh, its nice to have a quarterback though.

This Msg is ment for ctvikingsfan…. Like once said before by someone els and I thought I would tell it to you.
The Vike’s reign in the North will be short lived. You still don’t have an answer for QB. You think you do, but for how long? How were those Vike’s doing when the Jets were getting our sloppy seconds. And now you are getting sloppy thirds. INT to lose the Championship game. Bottom line…”your” team did not win the big one. Check the score board..Division champ doesn’t mean S#$T. I don’t care how many roadside billboards you losers purchase, you’ll still be on the outside looking in come time for the only game that matters in February. Viking fans are the worst, not quite as obnoxious as Raider fans, but at least the Raiders have won the big game before.

  38. chickenragnarpartdeux says: May 14, 2010 8:33 AM

you’ll still be on the outside looking in come time for the only game that matters in February.
Uh oh, better cancel the season, some internet butt plug said the Vikes aren’t going to make it.
And now you are getting sloppy thirds

Why does every Viking ‘fan’ think that the Vikings are dominating the Packers? Last time I checked ,the Packers are 5-3 against the Vikings since 2006. Sorry but that is not being dominating.
