The rivalry thing comes and goes, when one of the teams sucks for any length of time the rivalry kinda disappears.
When I first started watching football, (74) Vikes didnt have a good division rivalry. They all sucked! I considered them all sorry because none of em were good for any length of time.
The Bears came up in the 80's and changed that. Then Favre came along and made the Pack relevant, up until then tho I never thought much of them.

How come Aaron Rodgers head is bigger than it used to be?
I mean it quite literally. His head looks bigger. His arm is certainly stronger. Those injury issues disappeared.
Say it ain't so, Aaron. And for the sake of all of us cheering for your beloved 12 championship team, PLEASE DON'T GET CAUGHT!

"...the bears for the most part have sucked since the mid 80's- i'm not arguing that the Bears arent a longer rival- thats obvious but to compare the Vikings Packers games to the Lions packers games is RIDICULOUS!!!!..."
Why is it ridiculous? It's a divisional rivalry. Very important to win those.
But ask any Packer or Bears fan: Which games to the gear up for the most? vikings are a distant 2nd.

The pulse of the smart Vikings fans out there (yeah, okay, SMART Vikings fans... people will have fun with that) will tell you that they would much rather have any of the other QBs in the division, for the long term.
Rodgers is a stud.
Cutler can be elite if he quits being such a douche and has weapons.
Stafford is a stud, and will make the Lions relevant.
With all of that said, and knowing that I loathed the jersey Favre wore for all those years, last season sure was a fun ride. Thanks Brett, it was worth every minute (until the last couple!)
Maybe next year.
and will everyone please settle down on here? people get pretty mouthy when they have their big keyboard to hide behind.

# Fan of Football says: May 15, 2010 11:22 AM
About 50% of the sacks this year were on AR, not the line.
-------
Two publications dispute your estimation. Neither the ESPN NFC North blog nor the Journal Sentinel came close to this percentage of blame laid at Rodgers feet. One had his responsible for 23% and the other just under 30% and both were based on film near the halfway point of the season. Each number is much closer to typical for QBs, esp. young starters.
Everything on the line settled down once Clifton was healthy enough to start (and Colledge went back to guard) and Tauscher was resigned. McCarthy also altered the offense (starting with the Cowboys game) putting more options and protections under Rodgers control at the LOS. Neither fact backs up you contention that Rodgers was the difference.

Over the past 4 years GB is 5-3 over the Queens and yet somehow the Queen fans think they got the best of GB?
How bout those L.A. Vikings!!
Ok- since we are micro-analyzing recent stats- the Aaron Rodgers led Packers are 1-3 vs the Vikings

I'll say it again: Packers-vikings is a divisional rivalry. It's on par with the Packers-Lions rivalry. Divisional games are always big.
But it's not as big....again not as big.... as the rivalry history between the Packers and the Bears. I'm talking the entire history. Not one isolated year
the bears for the most part have sucked since the mid 80's- i'm not arguing that the Bears arent a longer rival- thats obvious but to compare the Vikings Packers games to the Lions packers games is RIDICULOUS!!!!

"REALLY?????? They've only played each other twice for the past 50 years...LOL And their records against each other are close to even- so what constitutes a rivalry in your opinion then???
Ron White is correct in saying that you can't fix stupid!! LOL"

The games against the Bears have much more intensity for teh Packer fans than the games against the Lions and vikings. One more time.... Lions and vikings import, but the dates on the calendar against the Bears get circled in bright red.
Clear enough?

To all the Viking fans (Mr Humble, etc) who think that Rodgers isn't any good because he hasn't won a Superbowl yet.
What does that say of the history of your beloved Vikings?
He's been a starter for 2 years. How long have the Vikings been in the league?
I wasn't going to respond to such an asinine comparison, goes from BF and AR to AR and Vikings organization......and then on top of it, what is the point of the comparison? AR has not won anything yet so your point is....?????? Also, I never said AR wasn't any good, far from it my friend. All I said is he can't be compared to the likes of BF, Montana, Young, Brady, Manning etc., QB's who have all accomplished many goals, awards, records and SB's. Get your freakin' facts straight before you try to utter your nonsense. Only thing I can think of is that Jeph Queer is an obvious Sconie who is drunk on cheap beer and mad at his wife who also happens to be his first cousin. His argument is like saying that AR can't be any good because he hasn't won a World Series yet......apples and oranges my friend.

You're right, he does make it look so easy. The sky's the limit for him, he has so much raw natural talent. The criticism or abuse he gets for a SECOND YEAR STARTER WHO HAS THROWN FOR 8000 YARDS IN TWO SEASONS IS LAUGHABLE!!
I haven't seen enough of Stafford to make an accurate statement as far as arm strength. Not sure he could throw a ball 70 yards in the air though. As for Cutler, his arm is overrated IMO, and so is his overall play. Bad Attitude, Pussy, (Hates getting Hit), led the league in red zone picks last year and finally, he has the Brent Favre syndrome. When he gets flushed, he throws late over the middle every time resulting in picks.

"...and if some McCarthy can call more than five running plays per game, or if Ted can pull off two consecutive respectable drafts, or pick up even one decent O-Lineman that wasn't a Sherman pick, or sign a decent free agent once in a, well, ever..

1200 yard rusher.....that's a ground game.
All Ted's drafts have been respectable. Some losers, some winners, about like everyone else.
Josh Sitton.........graded out as best lineman in '09.
Decent free agent? How about Charles Woodson!

"And finally to Fan of Football, Queens fans and the rest of the non-believers. Watch .52 seconds in, 70 YARDS IN THE AIR!! Put this in your pipe and smoke it!! What the rest of the league and you haters will be dealing with for the next decade!! LMFAO!! "
That was an awesome throw. He makes those throws look so easy too, like it's just a flick of the wrist. BF has to wind up and contort his body like he's throwing a javelin to throw the ball downfield. I'd say that maybe only Cutler or possibly Stafford have stronger arms right now than Rodgers, of course they don't have his accuracy though.

@ bbulldog,
You obviously have never been to Minnesota. Even though there is 4 pro teams in the state, and as good as the Twins are, this is the Vikings state, always has been. Thats why the team will never leave.
@ PackFaninPackLand,
You may be the one and only Packer fan with any common sense. Very good post.
And finally, Rodgers is a very good QB, but he will never be or do what Favre has done, so comparing them is useless.
