Barry Cofield signs his RFA tender

After almost being traded to the Saints last month, defensive tackle Barry Cofield has signed his restricted free agent tender with the Giants, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.

As a result, Cofield is now under contract for 2010, at a base salary of $1.759 million.

Cofield couldn’t have been traded without signing his tender.  But now that he has signed his tender, don’t look for a trade to happen.  Per Vacchiano, Cofield has been told that he’s in the team’s plans for the coming season.

Next stop for Cofield… some other team. He’s a decent DT who wants elite money. Not many fools are willing to do that.
