In an odd report from the Associated Press coming from a charity event Friday night, Patriots wideout Wes Welker indicated that he tore “just the ACL” at the end of last season.
As Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald points out, this conflicts with many previous reports that indicated Welker also tore his MCL. Welker himself even admitted back in January that his surgery was delayed because his MCL first had to heal.
Perhaps this is just a case of semantics, but it’s strange because Welker was apparently asked about tearing both ligaments and corrected the reporter.
It’s hard to know whether to make anything out of this. If he really never tore his MCL, Welker’s recovery could be a little faster.
Being a Patriot, surely there’s videotape to prove this.
No surprise here folks. Just another example of lies and cheating that emit from the classy Belicheat organization.
Now we can read posts from the whining, arrogant, bandwagon “fans” of this asterisk team.
Bengal ass kicking coming up in week 1…..enjoy it child
I don’t believe any reports issued on status of any player. When they’re on the field in uniform, they’re back. Until then, we’ll never hear the true story regardless of what player/team is making the statement.
Child_Please, who do you pull for?
No it means that the MCL was probably only partially torn or severely sprained. Allowing it to heal and not having to repair it as well as the ACL would greatly aid in recovery / rehab time.
Is it too early for Italian Army Guy to reply or is he making posters for the Spygate Payback #2!
I think cunn9305 nailed it. The MCL probably was either partially torn or severely stretched, compromising its ability to compensate for the torn ACL.
Bad news for Jests fans and all the jealous haters of the team of the decade. There must of been at least 100+ posts about the Welkerless Pats demise. And lets not forget how TB has lost focus.
Childplease, your an idiot! The Patriots never did make a statement as to what the exact level was Welkers injury was. It was only speculated by the media. By the way clown, enjoyed being on the bandwagon for over 25 years
As most people know our “arrogant”Hall of Fame head coach and team PR never comments about injuries.
Keep the posts coming, envy and jealousy must be a very difficult thing to live with every day of your sorry lives !!
Season can’t start soon enough ! Time to make space for our next Lombardi at 1 Patriots Place
I’m a lofelong Dolphins fan and understand and agree with all the cheating comments directed towards the Patsies.
But I hope for a quick and full recovery for Wes. He’s a good guy who has earned everything he’s accomplished. (and I wish we never traded him away, what stupidity!)
Cunn9305 is correct – the MCL probably did tear but the only surgery needed was to the ACL. theMCL healed with time. I’m not a doctor but I do live a few doors down from one…
Good, I hope this is true, Wes is one of the most rugged players in the game.
Sorry haters, Pats will win 10+ games again this year and win another AFC East title in 2010.
“Being a Patriot, surely there’s videotape to prove this.”
^^^^^
You are not funny, original or relevant.
Fail
Wes Welker is bad mofo.
A little confusing, but irrelevant none the less. Everyone knows an MCL takes 4-6 weeks to heal. No surgery unless it’s entirely torn from the bone. Get well, Wes.

======================
Goodell already destroyed it, along with Matt Walsh, Eric Mangini, and the Patsie’s stadium scoreboard operator, all in a huge bonfire. Bostonians came out by the thousands to roast marshmallows and sing campfire songs to the melodious screams of the victims
By the way – Nice Job Bruins!! I was feeling bad about my Penguins for about 5 minutes there, until the Bruins performed the Greatest Meltdown in Sporting History. When the Federal Court strips your Super Bowl titles, you’ll at least still have this year’s Bruins to look back on fondly
I thought Boston was Asterisk City – I didn’t know it was also Choke City. But, between the 2007 Patsies and the 2010 Bruins, you guys have pretty well cornered the market!!
I agree with Fins. Don’t like the Patriots at all, but I have nothing against Wes Welker. The guy is a tough player and excellent WR who has done a great job with the opportunity given to him when he left Miami. Hope he heals up to make the AFC even more competitive this year. Should be fun to watch!
GO FLYERS!!!
Child_Please! = total jealous moron………
@ampats – this isn’t bad news for the Jets. They’ve got such a good secondary right now that for the Patriots to put a dent in it they need Welker back in full form.
@pat patriot – it wont be good to be a pats fan this year when the Jets stomp the Pats out twice this season. There’s no run game in New England. This makes them a very one dimensional passing offense against the best pass D in the league. I wouldn’t bet the house on them beating the Jets this year. Especially because Brady’s got his head up Gisele Bundchen’s ass rather than Belicheat’s these days.
From the Herald article: “It’s just a snippet of a quote, and it’s tough to tell context”
But you’ll try anyways, right Ian? Continue building those bridges of integrity started by your well loved predecessor, the irreverent douche of all douches, John “jackass” Tomase. Maybe you’ll finally put that rag of a newspaper out of business for good.
classy guy, classy team. took the fall for everyone in 07. should be applauded.
trut.
Got to love taunting a team who has an owner named after an erection.
Joe Namath: career passing rating of 65.5 and a W-L record of: 62-63-4
220 interceptions, 173 touchdowns – and that’s the best they’ve ever had.
Whenever Welker gets back the Patriots will be a better team – but he’s not the only weapon on the Pats.
Is real hard to read anything a jet fan says…considering they have been the doormats of the AFC East for a long long time..like 41 years.
jet fans chirping..usually comes sometime between March and September..
I cannot imagine rooting for a team that hasn’t won 1/4 of the playoff games that Buffalo has..
But jets and their fans will ALWAYS lead the league w/their mouths…including the women.
@ItalianArmyGuy
Ha Ha, the Federal Courts……I’m sure they have nothing better to do than worry about some totally pointless and irrelevant tapes of defensive signals and cheerleader’s asses.
Worry about your own team, asshole.
The November 14th beatdown of the Steelers can’t come soon enough.
Voxy Moron,
Although the Flyers comment stings like hell…..I have to give you props for an OUTSTANDING forum name!!! That’s BRILLIANT!! No sarcasm here……I wish I had that creativity!!!
Now, back to all the stupid “Brady’s a gay, henpecked, cheating videographer and his coach wears a hoodie” rhetoric!!
Another thing….could the lot of you that instinctively come on here to troll at least take a few moments to APPRECIATE some of the genius that occurs on this blog? You’re all too busy spewing hate to recognize some of your site brethren’s very clever posts. We are a community here, even though some of our community members suck real bad…..but they are OUR sucky, real bad members!!! Howsabout spreading a little love along with the vitriol?
WHERE’S THE LOVE???
Jests fans are legendary for their douchebaggery and for being knuckle-dragging Steamers.
The only thing that is good about the Jests is Mo Lewis. Thanks Mo.
Namath sucked. He only got in the HoF because he was drunk poolside and spouted off (like any typical Jets douchebag) that “we’ll win the game”). When the Jests luckily did win the game, NY, the central toilet of worldwide marketing made sure he’d get in the Hall over many other more deserving QB’s. It’s a freakin’ travesty.
Hey, Pats* “fans” (and I use that term for you bandagonistas loosely, considering you had 19,000 season ticket holders 18 years ago, in one of the largest cities in America, mind you), for all your braggadocio, remember how last season ended?
“Nothin’ is sweetah, than a beatdown of the Cheatahs*”–truer words were never spoken.
The way you guys talk, you’d think you’re coming off winning your tenth Lombardi in a row, rather than coming off a blowout home playoff loss, with an aging and increasingly nonchalant, disengaged QB, ancient RB’s (although, as you all in NE* know, “HGH is a helluva’ drug!”), an aging O-line, a 33 year old Randy Moss and a 34 year old Torry Holt at wideout (despite this article, we all know Welker ain’t back before November and may never be the same again) and a sorry D that really didn’t add anyone from last year’s disappointing season.
I’m not a Jets fan, but they are going to absolutely annihilate you guys next year. Full strength, this is maybe an 11-5 if you’re lucky or 10-6 team, but with a key injury or two (say, to Wilfork, Brady or Moss) and you guys are an 8-8 team at best……
He was crying like his leg fell off
To pull a Slick Willie, it also matters how he’s using the term “tore”… is it in layman’s terms or medical because tearing the MCL typically is what most of us would consider as spraining the MCL.
There’s many other factors in knee injuries – bone contusions need to heal before they’re drilled for any allograft or petallar graft, etc.
Wes Welker indicated that he tore “just the ACL” at the end of last season = cover story for his HGH assisted rehab (Rodney just left it laying around… right Wes?)
ItalianArmyGuy,
Not funny. Pathetic. Non-original. And the “Federal Court” thing…. You just hit an all-time high of stupidity. And cheeseball, for you, that’s going somewhere.
Never going to live down the “sexual assault” thing for Lurch. He’s one more concussion away from the cuckoo’s nest. Hopefully it comes soon. I’ll LMAO.
Real bad year coming for the Stealers.
Murabma, no you’re not a Jets fan, you’re a Ravens fan. A team of gang- affiliated low life’s. The head OG on that team (Ray Ray) is a scumbag murderer.
Speaking of Ray Ray, there’s nothing more f-upped that the Ray Ray dance. Jumping around like a f-in idiot. That murderous self-centered prick.
Your town is a bunch of crack whores. Every time I turn on TV I gotta watch some show like “The Wire”, or “Homicide: Life on the Streets”. Hmmm, I wonder why those shows are all set in BMore? Because it’s a criminally infested- toilet, that’s why!
Oh, and don’t forget that your team is really the Indianapolis Colts.
“Only tore his ACL” ? Jesus Rosenthal , you’re a clown if you think that’s a good deal. Done ‘em both, and it’s the worst knee injury you can have.
You’re a complete moron if any of you truly believe HGH and PED’s aren’t on every team in the NFL. They just cover it up better than anyone else.
People in Italy must have a tough time sleeping knowing that they’re being “defended” by an “Army Guy” who is completely and clinically obsessed by the Patriots.
Switzerland’s going to invade and this guy will be busilly typing the same old rant at PFT while they waltz by.
If the Steelers were REALLY better than the Patriots, ItalianArmyKid wouldn’t bother protesting so much.
So even HE knows his team is pathetic.
“Just”
Joe Six Pack,
Italian Army Guy’s screen name is for Franco’s Italian Army during the Steelers SB years in the 70′s as most on this site do not seem to know.
I think 1/2 the people who post are about 14 years old, especially the Jests fans
He is obsessed because we always beat the Steelers in the playoffs
FYI fellow Pats fan, I enjoy your posts. Keep it up !
@JOE SIX PACK
YOU SAID IT. I know the pats are the most hated team on the planet but they will always be #1 with me. Also i have no problem with anyone supporting there team. I have many italian friends and i feel sorry for them that this momo whould call himself by that name.
Uhh, Ralphie boy, not sure where you got the idea that I was a Ravens fan–nope, nice try, though. I must admit that I did root for them to annihilate the Cheats* and it looked like it worked. That was a butt-kicking to remember, at home no less. The shape of things to come for y’all, as karma comes full circle in 2010 and beyond…..
The last fan that should be tossing stones is a Steeler fan…Your owner had to write a letter to the fans apologizing for your deviant QB! The guy thinks he can accost any female within eye shot. No too picky either, hotel personel and a college girl. Hell even the NFL sent this guy in for evaluation. I suppose you’re very proud? Pea brain.
Enjoy taking shots at the Pats, hell half the DB’s on this site do it on a regular basis.
Ravens did whoop the Pats! The Colts did what the always do to you! To set the record straight, the Ravens were the Browns and the Colts snuck out of town at midnight. I grew up in Baldimore. They cleaned up the inner Harbour and built condo’s for the Yuppies…Now, the crack ho’s etc, were forced into Balto. County.
Ozzie worked for BB, which is why your team drafts well. Notice I said I’m from Baltimore, was glad to get away.
Yeah, the outcome of a professional sporting event was determined by who one (or many, in this case) particular person(s) rooted for … okay, whatever you say. As for karma, if it was as real and all powerful as so many message board posters seem to wish or believe it is, wouldn’t it be busy working its magic on the world’s real life villains who commit truly heinous acts of violence?
“Karma is a word…like love!” Matrix Revolutions
“Instant Karma going to get you” John Lennon
I wonder if it’s Joey from the Northend???
Murabma, you’re right, my bad, I thought you were “Marimba” the asshat Ravens fan.
You’re “Murabma”, the retarded Bills fan who lives down in Mommy’s basement in suburban Buffalo. 0-4 – you have so much to be proud of. No wonder you’re a miserable prick. What’s gonna happen when your beloved “Nils” (as in 0-4) move to Toronto? You’re gonna go full retard then.
By the way, big time QB’s like Brady carry teams on their backs. Trent Edwards carries the Bills in his uterus.
Wes walker is done. JUST LIKE THE PATRIOTS
49ers you should know what it feels like to be done. You felt that about 10 years ago.
