Rams rookie Gilyard robbed at gunpoint

St. Louis Rams rookie receiver Mardy Gilyard, a fourth-round pick out of the University of Cincinnati, was robbed at gunpoint near the Cincinnati campus Monday night.

WLWT reports that Gilyard was walking with another man just after 9:30 p.m. when two men approached, one holding a gun. Gilyard had a $500 necklace and $90 in cash taken from him.

Police have made no arrests, and no one was injured. There’s no word on whether Gilyard, who was a star player for the Bearcats, was specifically targeted in the robbery.

Sorry you got robbed, Mardy. Don’t wear jewelry. It makes you less of a target for robbers….and it’s kinda gay for a dude to wear jewelry.

Before the anti-firearms patrol flocks to this post let me say this:
If firearms were banned in America……this guy (robber) would just have bought it online from another country. You cannot keep guns out of the hands of the bad guys and off the streets.
That is why you should allow the good guys to carry guns as well.

  5. robert ethen says: May 18, 2010 11:44 AM

If those idiot robbers would follow PFT they would have known Gilyard hadn’t signed his contract yet. If they waited a few weeks, the take would have been $50,000 in bling and $9,000 in cash.

How long before we hear that Gilyard violated some conduct code by being outside after 9:00PM, as though random street crime doesn’t happen all the time?

That’s what you get for wearing a $500 necklace in plain site at night. Throw in Cincinnati and it all makes sense. Tuck it in buddy, pull it back out when you get to the party.

  11. hitdog042 says: May 18, 2010 11:48 AM

that’s a bad part of town to be walking around it, for those of you who have never been outside of campus. It’s the hood. He should have known better than to be wearing that and walking around there with it on.

UC’s campus is surrounded by crime ridden neighborhoods. I wouldn’t want my kid living there. Chances are, he was not targeted. Just happen to be the first person to walk by these idiots when they decided to jack someone. It could have just as easily been a poor freshman with $20.00 on him and the same thing would have happened.

  21. RedDMV says: May 18, 2010 12:00 PM

Yeah, because there is nothing that says “Don’t Rob Me” more than wearing a $500 chain around your neck.

as for nohio, UC’s campus is actually in a decent neighborhood called clifton, next to a not-so-nice neighborhood called coryville. OTR is not really that close.
and steveincinci– i lived walking distance from the campus, frequently walking to and from campus for the 2+ years i was there and never had any problems. get your sheltered ass out of the suburbs and learn something about the real world.

But I guess none of you were ever young before? You never wore any jewelry at all? And even if he did, that gives NO ONE the right to rob him!!
IDIOTS…most of you are! Judgemental muthaF’s who were most likely the BIGGEST PUNKS in your school so you hate on pro athletes bc they were the ones kicking ur ass back then! LOL…

Wonder if it was Sam Bradford getting car jacked for his Benz or Lexus, if the same jackasses would be here condemning him for doing what he wants to do with his own money without worrying about getting jacked. Because you know, the Cincinnati campus is this rough and tumble place where you shouldn’t be walking around with, gasp, a $500 necklace and $90 in your pocket. Some of you clowns are hilarious. Sad state of affairs in America where the victim gets blamed if he doesn’t fit what you think a victim should look like.

    —————————————————-
You make a very valid point (And you are being civil about it too) but will that keep them from getting the guns? If they have to pay more to get them would they just give up….or would they just rob more people or commit bigger crimes because of the higher price and pain in the ass they have to deal wit to get said gun?
Also if none of the good guys carry guns, the risk of committing crimes goes down exponentially since the likely-hood that a store/home owner has a gun is around zero.
I have no issue with gun laws to try and prevent these people getting guns, I just think that banning gun sales in America is not the way to go about it.
